I honestly am at the end of my loan with about 4 payments left and I have never had an issue. I make automatic payments from my bank so payments are never late. I have had nothing but great customer service when I have had to call. Which thankfully was only once to change my mailing address. Over all, no issues with them in the last 5 years

Honestly dealing with this company has been a nightmare. Between the unkind service “professionals” who work for this company, or the $9 fee extra they receive it is an all around downer. The way the company representatives talk to their customers as if they are in authority over them. I think these people need to be investigated because the way the treat and handle people and go about things is no possible way legal. With threats of repossession of vehicle for late payment, there is not much help due to unfortunate circumstances. These people give you a hard time rather than help you maintain your loan without any issues. My car broke down twice and repairs costs me over $1200. After explaining I was told that I needed to “ call someone to borrow the money” because it was not anything they were going to do other that repo my vehicle. Totally unfair!!! I pray to God for these mean spirited people including the vice president Mike as well. God bless

Im tired of this company. They always send my bill late super late, so late that I need always to make the phone call which it cost $9 why? I don’t get the part. I didn’t understand why my account it was sold to this company. What I did to avoid the fee. I advanced one payment to be able to send my payment by mail. To avoid the charge.Life circumstances I fall back the regular month and again I’m paying the service fee and my bill always late 2 days or 3 before due ?.And the problem is the phone number doesn’t work all the time.I’m glad that I’m almost finish. If I ever hear about this company and my future I rather will not do any business. Thanks Balboa Thrift. And do not bother to reply. That doesn’t fix anything just do what’s right for next poor people. BBB should review this company.

They really think we are ignorant, payoff on my auto $26000 @ $8 and change monthly intrest. Lady at office stated I would be saving $8 or so monthly intrest, @ 48 months or so left I should have received a little over $400, I received $60.,I feel a little bit frustrated and I rather not say how I really feel! Never again Balboa

They have helped me out alot over the years. Covid hit. I was the only source of income in a house of 6. I kept them updated and made small payments. Then placed a 600.00 payment and the next 2 weeks my car was out for repo AFTER I was told we see payments are being made and everything. Yes I was late BUT if I just gave you 750.00 this month I was behind 2 1/2 months carnote is 420.00 I'm only down less than a month a you repo my car??

By what I can read I’m not the only one who’s affected by this companies horrible customer service ! The collectors are trash ! They are rude and insensitive. Guess the owner doesn’t care about loyalty or just simple customer service to his clients. Worst finance company out there !! I regret getting a loan here

I haven’t had a problem with them everytime i walk in they are all friendly and welcoming. They gave me a chance with my credit so I don’t think their is nothing negative to say. I saw some negative comments that say (they just want your money) of course they do they loaned you that money. It wasn’t a gift from grandma. Pay up and stop the hate.

I've been with Balboa Thrift & Loan since 2/2020. I appreciate them giving me a loan, but their customer service is very disappointing and atrocious. I ran into some financial hardship this month due to some unexpected mechanical repairs and asked Balboa for some assistance with my July payment. Yes, they have helped me out in the past (the last extension was 10/2021 due to a similar situation since the vehicle is a 2006). I keep up with my vehicle and necessary maintenance, but I am unable to predict when the vehicle is going to require something major like my radiator going out. I spoke with Angela Jordan about my situation and she said she would need to have my representative named Paula take care of my account but proceeded to charge me an extension fee of $29+$9 processing fee for a total of $38 (Not sure why but we will get into that later). I then spoke with Paula and she told me that I would have to cover the July payment 1st before they can assist me which means it will be for the August payment?. I advised her I would not be able to do that until 8/15/22 which means my account would be 32 DPD and it might affect my credit which is what I am trying to avoid. I asked her if I could speak to her supervisor hoping that someone else could help me, so she transferred me to Christine and I told her the same thing regarding my financial hardship/current circumstance and she also made be aware that their policy does not allow a loan modification until 9 payments have been made since the last extension/loan modification. I asked for this one exception since I've been a good paying customer and my maturity date is 4/13/23? but to no avail, I then requested to speak with her superior.I spoke with the VP. Mike Bordwell (sorry if I am miss spelling any names) I made him aware of my current circumstance and financial hardship. He stated that he will not make any exception for my account and proceeded to belittle me by stating: "what the previous reps told you was not good enough, so now you have to hear it for me and it's the same thing" I made him aware that I also work for a finance company and exceptions can be made? He acknowledged that exceptions can be made but he would not make one for my account due to their company policy. I then asked; why would your representative take an "extension fee" payment from me? He did not give me a direct answer but said it will be voided and the $$ will be refunded back to me? He also stated that people that write these negative reviews have been repod or they are bad paying customers. Well I have not been repod and I am not a bad paying customer, I'm just in a tough financial situation and it's unfortunate that Balboa Thrift & Loans cannot accommodate a good paying customer. As I stated at the beginning, I appreciate Balboa Thrift & Loan giving me a loan but it's very displeasing that they have this type of customer service.I also agree with some of the comments on here about their $9 processing fee? It's outrageous!

Their website is horrible. You can’t access payment history, it’s $9.00 to make a payment online, you can’t see payoff. It’s Mayberry except Sarah was nice when you called.
