My boys (8 and 6 years old) recently had haircut at SmartStyle Hair Salon and we had great experience. Ms. Isabel was very nice, professional and patient. My youngest had an amazing haircut time. But my older son was tired after school and gave her hard times but she handled 100%.
As a result my boys have great haircuts - exactly what I was asking.
Everyone is happy;))

This is the first time I’ve tried getting highlights from this salon, and although a bit pricey, it came out pretty good! I love the mocha tinted highlights that go with my dark brown hair. Great color refresh! Isabel was professional and friendly, and shared a few hair color tips.

I had just arrived in San Diego and wanted to get my hair done before beginning my new job. I saw that the salon was opened so I decided to try it out. They scheduled me for the next day with stylist Heather. I gave her a description of what I wanted, along with a similar photo. She recommended the most expensive styling they had but I decided to go for it! Bad decision.
I asked to have gray covered. It wasn't adequately done. I asked to have color brought back to life. It ended up being a mixture of several weird colors. She suggested a trim and I agreed. She butchered my hair. To be honest, she was able to disguise the botched job on that day. However, less than a week later, my hair was falling out and the discoloring was apparent. It was a mess. I wish I could post the pics. I do not recommend using Heather for anything other than a shampoo. I would not recommend that you have her style, cut, or color your hair. It was so bad that the salon manager personally redid my hair to repair the damage to the greatest extent possible.
This is the first time I’ve ever written a negative review about anything. It’s disheartening but I feel obligated to warn others.

I went to Isabel for color correction after going to another hair stylist in town. The previous stylist left me with an orange brazzy color. The fact that Isabel was able to correct it without knowing what chemical the other stylist used is nothing short of amazing. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted and she totally nailed it. She also removed the vast majority of all craziness. I am so thankful and highly recommend Isabel for any color needs.

Requested style: Purple & pink balayage on point.
It was my daughter’s first time dying her hair. I was a bit nervous but her stylist did amazing. She guided me through the whole process. Even my little one saw her big sister getting her hair done, & asked if she can get a haircut, without hesitation, the stylist said yes and made both my girls feel extremely comfortable.

Denice is fabulous! Very considerate and sweet. I got a great cut and style. She would get 10 stars if that was available. As for the shop, they get 3 stars because their phone system is TERRIBLE! Their voice mail is full. The staff can’t access the voicemails and the phone does not ring! If I hadn’t already received a great haircut, a few weeks ago, from Denice I would not bother going to this shop.
I don’t like the changes on the website. I wasn’t able to change my appointment. The site says to call to make changes. Really? How dumb is that? Since the phone system is down and has been down for at least a week. Fix your phone system and make the website more user friendly!
