Each doctor I spoke with was always willing to help me explain what was going on with my dog. After euthanasia was our final choice, the staff was super caring when my family said goodbye

They took great care of our pup who decided to eat something he shouldn’t have! They were able to get him into surgery and everything went smoothly. I appreciate the upfront estimate on cost for care as well, so we knew what to expect. Emergent care isn’t cheap, but they made it worth it!

I arrived at PESC with my pet who just had a seizure. The staff were attentive and helped me check-in right away. My dog was seen within 5 minutes of completing the check in process which only took a few minutes. The vet was caring and showed compassion for my situation. After testing and aftercare instructions all within the hour I was able to leave the pet hospital with my dog with peace of mind.

When we arrived with my cat in the two ladies in front were very compassionate and welcoming. However, when we were trying to figure out how to pay for this enormous hospital bill. We were addressed in a way as if we wouldn't qualify for carecredit, we simply asked which one of the options had better financing options and 0% APR for a lengthy time to be able to pick the best financial option for us. She immediately suggested applying for the worst option as if we wouldn't qualify for the other, which was not what we asked at all. I ended up getting my kitty the immediate care he needed and asked for him to be transferred to B street Veterinary hospital. When he arrived at B street he had a catheter still in. On my discharge papers they wrote that it was an easy process to unblock him. They did not mention the difficulty they had placing the catheter which led to complications from multiple attempts. Didn't know the severity of trauma caused until b street communicated with them on what they did since they couldn't get the catheder out from damaged cause and had to do an emergency surgery to save his life. I was highly dissapointed that this information was not relayed to the transferring hospital. All details should be included in the discharge papers especially any complications. The doctor who saw my cat was very nice but again I wish the discharge papers would have been very detailed for my cats care, especially when transferring care.

Horrible place!! Dr. Korten called me and said my bill was $1,321. That’s it !!! And said come pick up your dog !!! I had to ask her what was the high bill for !!!!!!!!! So disgusting. She didn’t want to go into detail at all just said that our dog would have seizures for the rest of her life . BS… she never had a seizure since that day !!!! Horrible place so sad .

sadly, i had to put down my family dog, and then a year later, my other family dog. it was a very sensitive situation and the staff was very caring for my pets and my family. its an emergency hospital, so the cost is understandable, its a service, and they explained everything thoroughly and were kind and gentle with my pets. i appreciate them very much! ❤️

If I could give zero stars I would. Our dog had a seizure for the first time and it was very scary. It happened after our regular vet was closed for the night so we went to this place. There was no one in the waiting room and the parking lot was pretty much empty. The so called receptionist could not have cared less. She could see we were very worried yet her monotone response was to tell us they “were at capacity and couldn’t take her”. She then pushed a paper across the counter that listed other emergency vet locations and walked away. The other two receptionists just sat there not making eye contact with at us. The lack of compassion not to mention professionalism was unbelievable. Horrible front desk staff. I’ve never heard of an emergency vet turning away an animal. And even if there is such a thing as being “at capacity” her rude and uncaring attitude was shameful.

I brought my fur baby in this hospital on 8/10 because I live around the area. My dog was getting weaker & they diagnosed him of Gastroenterocolitis. Prescribed with prebiotics & analgesic, but I didn’t see any progress. I told the vet my dog only vomitted one time & NO diarrhea. A few days after, while cleaning my dog’s face with wipes, I felt a big lump on his neck & when I checked further it was swollen, red, and causing him pain. There was no way I would go back to this place and trust them again regarding my dog’s health. I already spent a lot on my first visit & for what? Wrong diagnosis. All this time, it was his lymph nodes that are swollen and has an abscess. I drove my dog to Sorento Valley to Veterinary Specialty Hospital & they did awesome. The charge was fair unlike this place, just took my money away & did not care for my dog. I do not recommend this place at all.

Nice staff and vets. Very affectionate to the pets brought in and considerate of their pain and the humans who brought them.

Last night around 1900 my daughter and I found a dog on the side of the road. We stopped to see if he was still alive. He was not. My daughter and I decided we couldn’t leave him there so we picked him up and took him to this 24 hour emergency vet hoping they could check him for a chip and dispose of his body or return to the owners. When I walked in it was quiet and there were no customers. Neither of the girls seemed willing to help and treated me as if I were an annoyance. I explained the situation to them and they refused to do ANYTHING! I asked why they couldn’t take the dog and at least dispose of it, as I could not drive around with this dead dog in the bed of my pick up truck nor could I take it home, and they asked where I found it. I told them I found it on Otay Lakes Road and they stated they would not take it because Chula Vista owed them money for this sort of disposal! They are supposed to be there for the well being of animals dead or alive. I was appalled at the response or lack thereof that I received from these 2 girls who seemingly wanted to sit there and be paid to NOT help people. If I ever have an emergency with one of my animals I can guarantee I will not be taking them to this hospital!

They were not very helpful. They xrayed his back legs and said he had arthritis. He ended up dying 4 days later from congestive heart failure. A lot of thought was really put into his DX and care. I would never go there again!

The care team did well. It is an emergency center, so ensure you have an emergency or urgent care. If urgent care is the issue, emergencies are first. The support staff could of issued better updates on my urgent care progress and delays.

If you have the option, I would recommend seeking care elsewhere.
Yesterday afternoon, my 4-month-old Dachshund accidentally fell into the pool. I immediately took him to a vet in Tijuana, where he was given a diuretic to help remove any excess water. When we returned home, he was not acting like himself and even collapsed. We rushed him to the nearest Emergency Pet Hospital, which was the only one open at that time.
Upon arrival, they admitted him but refused to administer any oxygen or treatment until I signed a payment agreement, despite him having significant trouble breathing. Once inside the consultation room, Dr. Luzette Suau was notably pessimistic and uncommunicative. It was challenging to get detailed information from her, as she answered with brief, curt responses. When we asked for clarification, her tone was dismissive and condescending, making us feel like we were being unreasonable.
Dr. Suau informed us that Gordis’s condition was serious and that he would need to remain on oxygen until the following morning. We planned to transfer him to our trusted veterinarian in Tijuana the next day, but Dr. Suau made a disparaging remark about our vet, saying, "I don't want you to take your dog to Tijuana only for your veterinarian not to have an oxygen cage for dogs." This comment seemed unfair and classist, considering she only knew that our vet was in Tijuana.
We left feeling very concerned because Dr. Suau's demeanor was harsh and unkind, and we were uncomfortable leaving our puppy in her care overnight. However, the receptionist and nurses at the hospital were extremely kind and supportive. The receptionist, whose name I didn't catch, was exceptional—she was compassionate, understanding, and helped alleviate our stress during a very difficult time.
In the morning, we were greeted by Dr. Buchmann, who was fantastic. She answered all our questions in detail, remained patient with our concerns, provided clear instructions for our vet, and was both sympathetic and optimistic.
We took Gordis to our regular veterinarian, who placed him on oxygen and monitored him. Fortunately, his prognosis was very favorable, and he was sent home the same day. As of now, he is as good as new.
