Highly recommend. Dropped in to town on business for three days and my legs will never be the same. Ryan and Nava are great coaches, knowledgeable and considerate they made me feel welcome immediately. The 0600hrs group GETS DOWN. It was a lot of fun and I’m hoping to visit again.

My second home! Even though I'm a little older than several of the other members, age doesn't define me! I always feel supported and encouraged to push myself to my potential

I participated in the 6 week challenge, and I could not recommend it enough! The coaches were all extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive. With the right motivation anyone could succeed!

I was a challenger. I completed the challenge successfully in 6 weeks. The trainers were awesome the entire time. I had never lifted weights before in my life and I was very nervous. I've learned so much and transformed my body in such a short time. All of my friends and family have noticed and I guess it's time to buy new clothes!

Upper Park CrossFit is a great space to work out with motivating trainers. The people, the feel of the space, it all makes for a fabulous workout! Highly recommend Upper Park Cross Fit!

We trained at UPCF for close to 2 years during our stay in Chico. We had a great experience there, enjoyed the other members, and the coaches/owners. In our time there they added/bought more equipment and improved the facility in other ways I don't want to get into. So these guys are actually putting money back into the gym. They also have a Senior Barbell Club which is a tremendous service to their community. I wish my mom had a place like this to go to learn movement patterns and get stronger! I would only give them constructive criticism: be harder on the community. Demand more from the members. The guys *always* emphasized good position and form during warm-ups and pre-training brief, but these guys are absolute sweethearts and I think they need to dish out a little more bitter medicine to help people get better during lifting sessions. Thank you UPCF we'll miss you.

I was looking for a new crossfit gym in chico and dropped into upper park with really high hopes. I was met at the door by the owner saying I couldn't drop in and try it out. And to put it lightly I felt shoved out the door. First off, for a crossfit gym to be so unwelcoming to someone new is something I've never seen before. And to not allow a potential new member to try out a class and see their coaching style shocked me. But the owner told me I would have to come back and do their beginner "on ramp" program before I could do classes. I've been training hard for years and absolutely did not need an on ramp class so this was almost laughable. To try and force someone who understands the movements and how to move well into a beginner class is a waste of everyone's time. Regardless, I gave him my number to call me back in because I was really looking for a new box. He said he would call and we'd arrange a time. I never heard from him again. Was seriously disappointed by the whole experience. Search elsewhere for a crossfit gym because there are far more welcoming gyms in the area that don't shove new members out the door.

I have been going to Upper Park CrossFit for about 10 months now. This place is absolutely AMAZING! I had never been to a single CrossFit gym in my life (or any gym period), and I had all of those CrossFit "stereotypes" in my head of what it was going to be like: A bunch of bros working out and going as hard as they can until someone gets hurt. Not the case at all! This place is very newbie friendly and they are HUGE advocates on pacing yourself, proper safe posture, and working within your own limits of what you can handle. They will NEVER force you do something you are not comfortable with! I'll admit I was very intimidated of CrossFit in general at first (thought I was too out of shape), but coaches Ryan, Josh, and Nava took me in with open arms and showed me the ropes from scratch. They taught me the knowledge and skills I needed to feel comfortable doing Crossfit without worry, and for that I am so thankful! UP Crossfit does a new person training program that lasts anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months, and it focuses on learning all of the basic CrossFit movements, proper posture, getting the body used to working out again, and safe ways to bail out if the weight gets too heavy. They will spend as much time as it takes to make sure you are ready to do Crossfit; these guys are so dedicated and passionate about watching their members succeed! After my training sessions, I felt very prepared when I went to my official 1st class, and after 10 months I have not had a single injury due to the proper training the coaches have given me thus far. These guys are just so knowledgable on anything related to health and what the human body can do (without over doing it). One of the biggest reasons I also like this gym is there is a very eclectic group of people that go here, from all ages, genders, and walks of life. Yes there is cool equipment, yes it's pretty relatively affordable with a lot of class times, but the biggest thing I love is the people that go there (members and coaches alike). You will quickly be welcomed by the other members there, and within my first couple of workouts I immediately had some friends and some other members sharing tips with me. Upper Park Crossfit 10/10, hands down!!

I'm with Judy (Husband). We're with a seniors group. I'm 87 and enjoying workouts expressly designed for the needs of the older person. My Doctor is also pleased. Come on down, you're never too old!

Hands down the best crossfit gym in Chico! The first day I went, the people in the class were very friendly. At times, especially with females, they can be cliquey and just be judgy towards the "new girl", but the girls in the class totally weren't. They talked to me right away, and even encouraged me during the wod! I love how Josh is technical with the movements, and I love when Ryan gives compliments on my performance or lift, I actually believe him, he's not just saying it just to say. The wods are challenging for sure, but there's no judgment or pressure if you want/need to scale back, or if you want to Rx even harder. If during the wod, you get super tired and need to rest, they don't yell in your ear to "keep going!!" like a drill sergeant. What also makes them stand out is they are HUGE about recovery. At the end of the workout, they have it built in the class, 15 minutes of lead stretching. This is so awesome, because I typically just go home afterwards. This is the first time I've ever seen this at a Crossfit gym. The facility stays clean, it's just nice in general. There's plenty of equipment and space. Oh! and as a dog lover, I freakn love having Walter around. he's so damn cute, and just adds to the awesome morale they have going on. If you never done crossfit, and/or you're thinking about starting/trying it out, or have had bad luck with crossfit gyms in the past, I encourage you to not lose hope, and give this place a shot!

Great place. Love the box gym set up. Knowable and friendly trainers. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. I trained with Chris Nava and highly recommend him, he is dedicated to the success of his students and I appreciate that very much!

Ryan and Josh are excellent coaches! They give great explanations of the WOD and movements, are quick to listen to clients and they fix form on the spot. The mobility portion at the end of each class is an awesome way to cool down. This is my second CrossFit gym (1st one closed) and I'll be sticking around for a long time.
