Awesome dojo! Looking forward to taking another BJJ class soon. The coach was so professional and knowledgeable, most importantly has a valuable perspective. I travel a lot and feel lucky to have stumbled upon this high class facility for only a 15 dollar drop in fee. I wish I took some pictures like a class photo because my training partners were so warm and welcoming totally felt at home in the gi class. Oss.

About the Cash, not the KidsI looked at the Standalone website, spoke with the staff several times, and visited the gym before I enrolled my 2 kids. We started in the middle of the month, on the 13th. Happy to have found an activity the kids enjoyed, I proceeded to enroll them for two more months, paid in advance, through our charter funds. After the first week, the staff was telling my husband that they increased their fees by $11/mo and that we needed to make this change through our charter. My husband assured the staff that this task is not something we can do on our end, but something only they can do. By the second week, the issue was still unresolved. We were told to fix it, but we can't. My husband tried speaking with the owner, Jason, but Jason deferred my husband back to the front desk. At that point the front desk person told my husband that we could not come back to the gym until this issue was resolved. This was on a Friday. Over the weekend I left a message asking to speak directly with Jason. On Monday, 10 minutes after the kids class began, I get a call from a staff member saying we can come in. But we live 30 min away, so we were not going to make it on time. Furthermore, I explained the situation and asked to speak directly with Jason. It has now been just over two weeks and I have not received a call from Jason.Changing the quoted pricing is not our responsibility. In fact, I would have happily resubmitted my payments for April and May once they fixed it in the system. And we could have called March even since we paid in full (minus $11) while starting mid month. This way the kids could have stayed in class while they worked on pricing. At this point, Jason will not refund us for March which I am ok with. The sad part is that he is telling my charter that he also wants the payment of $11.Hey Jason, if you see this post, give me a call and I will happily come by and pay the $11. I am also happy to pay another gym out-of-pocket for the care and courtesy they have shown to our family and most especially, to our children. This other gym also has a better teacher to student ratio, keeping the kids much more safe. For the fact that you approved the directive that my kids could not come back tells me Standalone is not about the kids. For that, you get the least number of stars possible.

My son recently joined Stand Alone MMA to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while attending college! He was welcomed the second he walked thru the door and later chatted with the owner who also gave him a warm welcome! He wasn’t sure if he was ready to join when he walked in but very quickly recognized that Stand Alone had everything he was hoping for: a sense of community; excellent BJJ instructors; a place that welcomes beginners along with the opportunity to advance to your goals; opportunities for other martial arts and boxing classes; and close to Chico campus. As a mom, I left feeling like he had enrolled in a program that had his best interests in mind! Since joining, my son has enjoyed many classes with different black belt instructors and continues to look forward to his next BJJ and No-Gi classes!!

What an outstanding gym! I came here while I lived up north for a time and season in 2021 and went to their Fit to Fight Strength and Conditioning class with their trainer Efren. I was blown away at the consistency and dedication everyone in this gym had and felt very comfortable coming here and being trained by Efren. I was bummed to hear he had to leave training there for another job he had lined up and it actually coincided with me moving back to Southern California. There was an issue with their billing after I moved and the class was suspended and they refunded the mistake without any issues! If you're looking for a solid gym with integrity and passion, please come here! Next time I'm in Northern California for any length of time, I will definitely be renewing my membership! Thank you guys again!

**This review is based solely on the BJJ class and my observations about the facility for their night classes** I was in Chico for a week due to work. I had messaged this gym on my interest in doing a drop in for a day or two. I received a response back with no issues. The place was easy to find and had parking around the perimeter. I walked in and was greeted by Jason (the owner) and Valerie. They were both very welcoming and all smiles. After the waiver, Jason took me on a quick tour of the facility. The upstairs was like a recreational room with a TV and a couch, with some locker rooms. I noticed it was very clean and well kept. You can over look the gym from upstairs. Downstairs, after passing a hall way with more locker rooms, you arrived at the main training room. One giant room to fit a boxing ring, a large area of mats (where we did our BJJ class), and a workout room of free weights and a large rig for pull-ups and squats. Brandon is their black belt instructor and he was very welcoming and enthusiastic when he teaches and talks. Great energy even though he taught a Muay Thai class just prior to BJJ class. A standard BJJ class on warm ups, followed up with instruction and positional rolling, with live rolling. I did noticed that Brandon goes around the class as he assist and watches his students drill the move of the day. I had no issues with rolling with any of his students or him. Everyone had great attitudes. *Observations of the gym* I did noticed there were times that Valerie would walk around to clean equipment or windows. This shows that they care for the gym and members. I'm not sure if they have showers. This gym does have a nice 'family' vibe to it, but I did not see any kids or know the policy of having kids around. Overall, great place to visit or to become a member.

Hey, I come from the bay, I used to go to a muay thai gym, I went there for like a year and 2 months then I came here. My questions are, what are the prices for an adult. And what information do u guys need for me to join? Thanks!

This is a great Muay Thai gym in Chico. I train in the Bay Area and was in town for business and wanted to do a class. Very nice facility. I really liked the teachers who were friendly and supportive. I learned some cool techniques and got good feedback on things I needed to pay attention to. Students were friendly too.
