Great updated classic historic hotel! They upgraded my room type when the original room was unavailable, for no charge.Walkability: Heart of town. Walk to shoppes and great steak restaurant.Close to campus too!

This was my third time staying here and this was my least favorite trip. It’s the smallest room I’ve had here. The furniture is all janky and majorly knicked up so much it looks like crap. The door on the cabinet where the refrigerator is located does not stay shut and the knob is loose. The pillows were so thick I could not sleep on them. I ended up sleeping on the hard decorative bed pillow.When I checked in, the lovely gentleman at the front desk said the room they had for me was not ready so they were giving me another and nicer room. I’m wondering now what the first room was like.The hotel charges insane prices for massages that one would find in a big city. They also charge if you want an early or late checkout. I’ve never heard of such a thing in all my years of traveling around the world.Restaurant and bar are separate owners. We were here for a Valentine’s Day event in Chico and only had cocktails in the bar, which the hotel provided two $15.00 vouchers. Each cocktail was $15.00 - very pricy for Chico.Both bar and hotel staff are very friendly. The Hotel Diamond needs a come to Jesus moment and realize Chico is not a big city and price gouging is not very welcoming.

On January 25, 2023 we stayed at this hotels in a king room on our 60th anniversary in Chico; however, we will not book into Diamond hotel again because the bed we slept in a year ago was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever experienced, not even a 1 Star hotel could compare to the disappointing, hard, lumpy, mattress we tried to sleep on. This year we are booking in to Hampton Inn and Suites in Chico for 2 nights because we know we will receive excellent care and a comfortable bed. No referrals to Diamond Hotel from us ever. Too bad, the location is perfect and we would have been booked there at least five times since January 2023 if they had a decent mattress in the king room we were booked into. Just sayin.Noteworthy details: Crappy mattress in our king room...not a luxury or romantic at all.

I don't know anything about the rooms cause. I haven't stayed there, but I've gone into the grill area and have eaten there. And gotten drinks and have had excellent service. When I was there Cory was my bar tender and he did excellent drinks.

We loved staying at the Hotel Diamond. The room was cozy and well appointed, and the location was great. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere overall. The only complaint I have (otherwise it would be 5 stars) is that they give a free breakfast to two guests per room even if you have booked the larger room for 4 guests and are paying extra fees on top of that to have 4 guests, they then charge those two additional guests for breakfast. It seems like all paying guests staying at the hotel should have the same benefits. It’s a small but slight miss in service. The breakfast was simple and delicious and I would say is a definite plus when considering this hotel over another.

My husband made a reservation for us to stay at this hotel for our 41st anniversary. A week before our stay he found out that the restaurant and bar were closed on Sunday and Monday. So he changed the reservation to Tuesday. The night before our stay he called the hotel to make a reservation for dinner. We received a confirmation for that dinner. Then a couple hours later we received a phone call that the restaurant and bar were closed for the entire week of Thanksgiving. What kind of hotel closes their restaurant and bar for an entire week and doesn’t inform their staff? Totally ruined our anniversary!

The ambiance, location, and staff are all amazing. We had about 20 people there for a business event in October and it went very well. Everyone—from the waitress for our group dinner at The Grill to the desk clerks to the event manager—was very helpful and friendly.Food & drinks: The Grill is incredible. The menu is unique and interesting with so many incredible options. I had the salmon and it was probably the best I’ve ever had!

Super fat pillows and a rather jiggly bed made for a somewhat hellish night's sleep I have to say.Also the view: straight at a brick wall about six feet away. Ask for a room with a good view !!! A nice place otherwise.

Could not have asked for a better place to spend my birthday. Everything was so close within walking distance and then we enjoyed dinner and brunch at the hotel with never having to leave.

This hotel is the best place to stay in Chico. The people at the front desk are very helpful and nice and the rooms are spacious, lovely and very clean. We truly enjoy staying at this hotel and highly recommend it!

Had dinner in the restaurant. The gentleman who waited on us did an amazing job. Joey, maybe. I ordered medium, received well and happily ate it anyway. The flavor made up for it. The cocktails are phenomenal. Two berry tart worth trying...and I am not a cocktail person! All in all I will definitely be returning. I've eaten at many nice places in the bay and the restaurant here could easily compare.
