“Creed Strength & Fitness isn’t just a gym—it’s a community.
After going through multiple leg surgeries (including Achilles lengthening), limited mobility, a stroke, and even lung cancer, I needed a trainer who truly understood the body. Taylor Catrett, the owner, was exactly what I needed.
He’s helped me stay active and strong with smart, safe modifications every step of the way. Taylor knew how to adapt each workout to fit my needs and encouraged me even when I didn’t think I could keep going.
With a Master's degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength & Conditioning and certifications like CSCS, USA Weightlifting Level I, and NASM Corrective Exercise, Taylor has the expertise to design effective programs for individuals with all kinds of physical challenges.
What makes Creed even more special is the atmosphere Taylor has created. My 5:30 am crew has become my gym family, always there to cheer each other on and celebrate every bit of progress.
If you’re in Chico and looking for a personalized, supportive training experience from someone who knows the body and genuinely cares about your progress, I can’t recommend Creed Strength & Fitness enough. Bonus, it’s veteran owned and operated!”

“I am very happy with the care and encouragement I receive at Basis Gym. They have options for all ability levels. The trainers promote good health. India has great ideas and is leading my journey. I can count on Noel and Andrew to lend knowledgeable support.”
“I came here March 2022 and this barbell club is for everyone. From kids to adults, novice and advanced athletes, this is the place to be. Reach out to Coach Mike and he will guide you to become stronger and reach your potential as a lifter and an athlete.”
“Started working out here 6 months ago and now a true part of my weekly routine. Small workout group with consistent training by motivating and attentive trainer(s). Ian, Vanessa and Vito have made my morning workout very fulfilling, fun, challenging and have helped me reach my goal. The goal to make working out fun and fulfilling…. I’m working out in a group of 3/4 people with individual workout plans for every workout. There is a great community feel here. Where the trainers listen and work towards your requests. Thanks again Ian and WBF for getting to this first goal.”

“Nsfitness is now Lions Den. The new owners have done a great job with the renovations and badly needed updates. They have some new equipment and have made aesthetic improvements. They have created a room geared towards *leg day* and I think it's a good little circuit. Thanks for the upgrades and updates Lions Den.”
“Nice size gym for a smaller town. Plenty of seating for everyone, bleachers on one side with seat backs on the other side. They sell concessions at all ticketed sporting events. Only downsides are, limited parking depending on weekday or weekend event and there us no A/C inside the gym. There is A/C in the lobby, but unfortunately not in the gym itself. They have large swamp coolers inside the gym to circulate air.”

“I wish I had found this gym years ago. The one on one attention to my body ergonomics and old injuries helped me out immediately. Zak's knowledge, interest and level of expertise made for a great work out without injury or undue soreness. He insures there is a lot of stretching in between stations. He fine tunes excercises for injuries and pushes me to just the right limits. Everything about this gym is excellent.”

“The best decision of my adult life was to join Alpha Strong gym! There are many reasons to love this place but my top 3: the workouts are different every single day, you get training the entire time and it’s woman owned and woman run! The best way to start my day!”

“Went for my second visit today and so far so good. I go in off times so it's not that busy and other gym goers are fairly friendly. The guy who checked me in first day was super nice and explained everything. Only issue today I put my Adidas Zip up in a locker for 30 minutes, kept my valuables but figured a light jacket was safe. Came back to an empty locker so make sure to lock the lockers. Front desk didn't care at all which was disheartening. It's my own fault but frustrating. Bring a combo lock.”

“Love coming here to exercise . The instructors are so much fun! I have been coming here for about 15 months now and have met some wonderful, amazing people. It truly is great to dance my way to good health!”
“As a Chico State student, having access to the Wildcat Recreation Center, or WREC, is an absolute game-changer. It's not just a gym; it's a vibrant hub of activity and an invaluable resource that significantly enhances the student experience, especially since it's entirely free for enrolled students! This is a huge benefit, making health and wellness truly accessible to everyone on campus.
First and foremost, the WREC is consistently spotlessly clean. From the locker rooms (which even have dryers for your swimsuits, a thoughtful touch!) to the cardio machines and weight areas, the staff does an excellent job of maintaining a hygienic and welcoming environment. You rarely see equipment left unwiped, which speaks volumes about both the staff's dedication and the general respect students have for the facility.
Beyond its cleanliness, the sheer variety of activities and classes offered at the WREC is truly impressive. Whether you're into traditional weightlifting or cardio, you'll find top-of-the-line equipment. But it goes far beyond that. There are numerous group exercise classes, from high-energy spin and dance fitness to more calming yoga and Pilates sessions. They even have unique offerings like SUP Yoga and Log Rolling in their enormous pool! For those who prefer team sports, there are multiple basketball courts, a multi-purpose court, and intramural sports leagues. The three-story climbing wall and bouldering area are fantastic for adventure seekers, and the indoor running track provides a great option for any weather.
The WREC also offers things like personal training, aquatics programs, and even safety courses like CPR and First Aid. And if you're looking to explore the outdoors, their Adventure Outings program, based out of the WREC, offers everything from backpacking trips to equipment rentals.
In short, the WREC at Chico State is an exceptional facility. Its cleanliness, diverse range of activities and classes, and the fact that it's free for students make it an indispensable part of campus life. It's truly a fantastic resource that empowers students to stay active, reduce stress, and connect with their peers outside of the classroom.”

“I enjoy lifting weights and I feel that the wait time isn't very bad for machines. They also have a good amount of yoga classes and the teachers are great. The gym is clean and they have been making a lot of updates since I've joined. My only request would be to have better hours at the childcare. There have been times where they are closing early or not open at all (during normal childcare hours).”
“Julio always takes great care of this place gyms always clean and welcoming I appreciate this place while im in chico i could probably eat off the floor honestly”
“Love it here. I have gone to 3 rhythm and ride classes so far. The instructors are amazing. Staff are kind, encouraging, and welcoming. I love the cool off cloth at the end of each session with the essential oil on it, it's a great addition. I look forward to participating in more classes!”
