A place where you get treated like a thief once you walk in the store. And it's not a surplus. Everything in the store is full price. You can get everything they have cheaper online. Will never go back to this place. A horrible experience.

Meh. Have to agree on other reviews about the vibe. It' feels somewhat cold and off, though the owner has never hesitated to offer help and has been polite. The prices are on the good side of fair. Shopped here regularly before. Busted a hump to get to the store for a quick purchase, only to get a disingenuous "sorry" as they closed up early and the door literally got locked in my face by the second employee - the first just stood in the doorway and stared blankly back at me tongue tied, physically blocking me at the entrance as I tried to go in. As if I was supposed to be psychic and just understand I wasn't welcome even though it wasn't closing time. It was weird.

Anytime I need to dress our Employee's for the weather, Gates is there to help. They help with fittings or located the sizes I need. Always great service over the phone and pricing. Really enjoy working with the staff.

I've been doing business with Gates Resale since the late 70's, and for good reason - local store, local employees, jobs for students, etc. ...
But mostly because they have great customer service and they stock what I'm shopping for. I bought a pair of boots from them and after a month or so a place hook fell off. I took them back and they told me to get them repaired and they would pay for it. They didn't manufacture the boots but they valued my business. Now *that's customer service!*
I highly recommend Gates Resale for work wear, Carhartt, Kleen Kanteen, camping gear, pawnshop items and more.
