“Huge toy store, old-timey & whimsical, with every little doodad & gadget that make little my GenX heart flutter in nostalgia, & also offering local touristy souvenirs &, perplexingly, a large selection of high-quality Hawaiian shirts‽ Very friendly staff. A joy to visit, for kids ages 1-99!
Bonus: the National Yo-Yo Museum sits unassumingly in the very back! Tiny altar to the humble yoyo, embedded & almost seemingly forgotten in the back of a huge old-timey toy store, Bird in Hand, with an impressive collection showing off the evolution of the toy—including the gigantic 256-lbs wooden monster that was twirled off a construction crane!
I especially appreciate the focus on the Filipino roots of the phenomenon & the name. Pinoy representation!”
“I go here every couple months and it is a very good store. They have a load of books spanning lots of subjects. They also have collectable items, board games, toys, puzzles, and more. My go to bookstore”
“Seriously, great selection of books, cheap too. I got 3 hard cover books for $17. They had a section with $1 hardcover books, too. They have an abundance of paperbacks, too.
Honestly, I love how they don't really have it neatly set up and all that, I think it really creates the vibe of intelligence, and definitely attributes to the idea of finding something you didn't know you needed.”
“Clean, organized, fun store to visit! As members of the community, we consider the Wildcat store, yet another choice when looking for gifts, cards, books, CSUC clothing, and especially art supplies and electronics!”
“Great collections! The owner makes you feel welcome! He helped me and my friends look up some books and we were stoled to find some Kevin Starr’s books on California! We will definitely stop in next time.”
