UPDATE: we just got home and he was left in the carrier long enough to where he peed himself and the vet told us nothing. Please do not bring your pets here.Original Post: If I could give this place zero stars I would. First, if you love your fur baby please do not bring them here. Our baby has extreme anxiety and they would not answer our calls when we checked to see if he was ready for pick up. We called over 20 times with no answer and decided to show up because they were closing soon. Not only was he ready for over an hour but they lied about tying to contact us and said we never called. I had a feeling they weren’t being honest so I called their phone in the lobby only to find out it was on silent. Very disappointing, we will not be coming back and our cat is now even more anxious than ever.

The grooming spa is amazing! The store, either someone who answers has an attitude or seems like you are interrupting them with your question.

Here 4 minutes before closing there's a worker at the door waving to me that they are closed!!! You close at 7p on Sundays not whatever time you feel like?!?!

I drove forty minutes to this vetco because I had a great experience the first time. But the second time I came, it was closed on a Sunday even though I was able to book an appointment online. For someone who's extremely busy like me, it was a huge waste of time and my poor pets had to sit through two hours of traffic. My cat also has asthma and I was counting on this appointment to help him as the asthma has been getting terrible. This was one of the only times I could make time to bring him to a vet so I hope he will last another week. When I left, there was another woman who had brought her two pets who said she also got a text confirmation so we both found this odd. It's extremely rude and unprofessional, definitely won't be coming back here again.

Awful experience as a first time visitor to their Vetco. Don't ever be late to your appointment or the vet will refuse to see you, they do not care about your pet. To make matters worse, the receptionist is just terrible. I called ahead to get some help with finding the location and she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and gave me an insulting sloppy half response that made no sense. Then she called me back to tell me that she "forgot" to mention their very strict appointment rules and that I could stay and wait until the next appointment slot. When I arrived, she didn't greet me and instead rudely laughed in my face then actually yelled at me and said I would need to reschedule for another day! I'm shocked at the unprofessionalism and disrespect. Even her coworkers appeared uncomfortable with her attitude and just walked away. Disgusting.

I've been grooming my dog for year's because different groomer have cut and burned my dog. I decided to give this place a try. I explained my past experience to the groomer and that my dog is afraid because of the trauma. I ask to not shave or cut her tummy because that is where they then to burn her. I was assured by them. My day has been here about 5 times or more, I can't remember but this last time was bad. I didn't notice she was burn until 2-3 days later because she kept licking. I'm going to show you pictures from day 3 and today, how bad they burned my baby. Do they NOT use cutting guards or check periodically to see if the clippers are hot? I think her groomer name is Allyssa

When I was actively searching for a bird, I visited about 10 different Petco/PetSmart stores (as well as mom-and-pop pet stores and specialty parrot stores). I saw tons of stores that just stuck their poor birds in white cages with horrible short smooth dowels. Their workers at times wouldn't even give me a passing glance or greeting even if they saw me obviously interested in their very expensive birds. Some may say that they intentionally keep their animals in poor conditions to elicit sympathy from their customers, in a bid to get them to buy the animal out of pity. I disagree - it absolutely killed any desire I had to drop over half a grand in their stores. I'm here to tell my story, and it's a simple one: this Petco location worked hard to provide great conditions for my new family member while he spent his time in their care, and they did it the right way. It took me around 2 months to finally decide to bring home my green cheek conure, and the reason I chose him out of all the other sweet and lonely birds I met in my journey was because this Petco had their sh*t together. They had him in a very large enclosure (width and height) with tons of perches and toys he could actually reach. He had a name (Avocado) and a bio (which must have been outdated because it said he was shy - he was a total charmer when I started visiting)! I visited him at least once a week before buying him, sometimes 2-3x a week. On around my 4th or so visit, the manager (Patty?) noticed my interest in him and approached me asking if I'd like to bring him home! She told me a little bit about his backstory: he was a transfer from a neighboring store and that he totally came out of his shell in their care. I could tell she truly cared about this bird, and it showed in the way other employees all had a little story about interacting with him when I made subsequent visits. I loved when I got a chance to chat with them, but I also liked that they gave me space to interact with him on my own and get to know his amazing personality! :D They were honest about the realities of parrot care, too. Some even mentioned that they had someone take a conure home and bring him back a week later because he was "too nippy," and warned me not to do the same! None of the workers were pushy or manipulative in their sales tactics. If anything, they just felt like their genuine selves to me. After much deliberation, I was finally ready to bring him home. the employee we spoke with said that we had to come back when the manager was working (the next morning) because he was a special case and she had to personally approve the home he went to. They even gave me a bunch of tips to prove we'd be a good fit for him, which showed me they weren't going to let just anybody take him home without having the proper set up and knowledge. It helped that it turned out the manager owned a Grey herself, and it showed me that a manager can really make or break a store's animal care. She seemed very moved when she collected him from his enclosure, and other patrons and workers came by to express their surprise that Avocado was finally going home! Months later he is so happy and healthy and a part of the family. I have these people to thank for his demeanor and they made my experience getting him an absolute treasure! :) There is a second manager here as well, I believe his name is Steven? He was also incredibly kind and helpful! About a month or so after purchasing my conure I came in to request a complicated and large transaction with multiple gift cards. He didn't even hesitate in accommodating me and was super patient throughout. It might just be my experience, but it seems that he and Patty are doing a great job running the store and keeping both customers and their workers happy. Before I took my conure home, I remember him sharing funny little stories about how he would hang out on their shoulders after store's closing. Just another testimony to how they show they care :) Other petcos, take notes please!

Unorganized location with an extremely rude manager. Save your time and go to a different store.

They canceled my appointment on the spot, because during a casual conversation, I revealed that my pup has a heart murmur. He had this for a while, and his cardiologist says he's doing okay. They said that I would need a doctor's note to get the grooming appointment, never mind that my dog has been groomed there since he was a pup and multiple times with the heart murmur. He loves to be groomed, but none of them know that because they got rid of their staff that's been there for years. All I know is that if they were so concerned about pets, they would have asked the necessary questions before giving me an appointment. I left during my lunch break all for nothing. My dog seemed disappointed, since he loves baths.

I often come to pet co to destress and cheer my self up today unfortunately, I was heartbroken to see the state of the Guinea pig and other rodent terrariums they were covered in p*** and had small flies inside. I can't believe how terrible the living situations is for these little guys perhaps they're short staffed or improperly trained but this is unacceptable anyone above the age of 10 can see when something is dirty and disgusting.

Often people write reviews when they are unhappy with the service, but they seldom do when they are happy with the service. I'd just like to commend a Cerritos Petco Team member (ALAN) who had helped me today. I had ordered a cat tree via online, and was going to pick up via curbside pick up. However, I hadn't yet received an email to inform me that it was ready, so I walked into the store to see it if was ready (I had ordered it 2.5 hrs prior and I had to leave the city soon). I walked into the store, and my item was ready. Alan was at the front counter and assisted me, he said that he had just brought the cat tree to the front. I asked if could inspect the cat tree first and also if he could help carry it to my car which he accommodated both requests. His interface with me is what superior customer service should be - courtesy, politeness, and accommodating. Keep up the great work Alan.

We've been coming to this Petco for grooming for about 8 months now. We started while we were living in Cerritos and always went with Vailili as our groomer. She's so gentle with our dog (Kona) and does a wonderful job every time. She pays attention to his needs and I super appreciate her patience with him. We moved to Tustin not too long ago so we thought we should try the Tustin location Petco just for the sake of distance, but will probably never go back there. My dog came back with three of his paws bleeding because they were nicked. Long story short, we decided that driving 30 min to the Cerritos Petco Grooming is worth it because they always do an amazing job. Highly recommend especially with the new renovations :) Tip: -we always get the Calm & Refresh here on top of the haircut (love this)
