“Carter Animal hospital is the best in the valley! The staff and doctors are amazing and they care about your pets. It's a family feeling yet professional. I've been going to Carter Animal hospital for well over 15 years, I have had two cats pass away, but the love and compassion that they extended to me during that time is what made the difference! I would highly recomend this facility, and I won't go anywhere else!”
“Can’t say enough positive things about this whole office!!! Front office staff and the veterinary techs are always SO friendly, helpful and wonderful. Dr. Pentoney, my pups’ veterinarian, is the kindest I’ve ever ever met. She is so caring, smart, thoughtful, thorough and patient. She always takes the time to answer all my questions and concerns, and even personally calls to deliver messages about important lab results and tests. Dr. Pentoney has been a godsend even more so recently as one of my dogs has a tumor indicating soft tissue sarcoma, which is terrifying. I am truly SO grateful to this office for their care and kind demeanor. You can tell how much they value their clients and love animals with everything they do.”
“We were new to the desert in 2023 and visited Country Club Animal Clinic for our dog and cat’s annual exams. We love them! We have never waited more than a couple of minutes, all of the staff is friendly and helpful and the vets and vet technicians are have taken very compassionate care of our 19-yr old cat and picky-eater dog! There is even a separate waiting area for cats so that they are not frightened by dogs. We came back just recently for their 2024 exams and experienced the same, high quality, friendly and efficient care. We highly recommend Country Club Animal Clinic for all of your vet needs!”
“My husband and I are so incredibly happy with and appreciative of this office. While all of our consults have been top notch, our most recent visit was particularly reflective of this phenomenal practice.
Our dog Bogey was worked-in on a Friday due to progressively worsening diarrhea and vomiting. They did a thorough work-up, gave him fluids and medication and he is now back to his normal happy self. Thank you a million!”
“From the initial phone call to the day of the appointment, the staff are simply amazing! We had to put to sleep our beloved Orangie. The Dr, was so comforting and soft spoken which made the process easier! Even when I picked his remains the staff were comforting and gave me a huge hug! I need it!!! Thank you for all your kindness and support!”
“I felt good about our appointment and am looking fwd to getting the pheromone atomizer for the house. I bet that will take care of my problem. I may pass on the urinalysis until after I see how the atomizer works. My decision is solely financially based.”
“We took a hamster for Esperanza's sanctuary in for her leg to be looked at and make sure she was healthy and the vet staff was fabulous with her and we were a part of the plan for treatment. The atmosphere was calm compared to other VCA facilities I have been in and the Dr.Horwitz was awesome with our patient and my small human who loves that hamster. She came highly recommended by another vet in the valley as well. Here she is taking her meds happily.”
“After trying to do the Snip Bus for weeks to no avail, I went to Animal Samaritans. This outfit was amazing. The clinic was clean, empathetic to animals, and very professional. Our cat is doing great and we are so happy we were able to get her spayed finally and at a reasonable price. Thank you Animal Samaritans! You live up to your name!”
“They got me in same day which I very much appreciated since my baby got sick on Christmas. They were up front about pricing and kind about the breakdown of costs. They didn't try and push loads onto us or make us feel guilty for what we couldn't afford. I don't know what's going to show up on my kitties bloodwork but the receptionist and doctor made me feel welcome and were attentive and kind. I do feel he's in good hands here and I appreciate the kindness while we navigate what could be wrong with my baby.”
“I was unable to find a 4 pound bag of a certain dog food anywhere. I stopped into this Petco (Palm Desert) I was able to speak to the manager Casey. She was very willing to help me she was able to lead me right to the dog food I was looking for. Casey also let me know that in the future if they didn't have the food in stock to let her know and she would order it for me. This store is very well stocked and very clean. All the employees were very polite and friendly paying a lot of attention to my dog and giving her plenty of cookies. I highly recommend this pet store.”

72453 CA-111, Palm Desert“We were visiting from out of town and this particular store seemed smaller and older. Very short staffed with 7 people waiting for one cashier although there were at least 4 other employees on the floor. After about 10 minutes, another cashier showed up. Of course I was the last person in line so the cashier was happy to get the crickets I needed.”
“I'm baffled by some of the bad reviews because I have had nothing but the best experience and service from VCA Desert Hospital. I'm not friends/family with anyone that works there so my experience and review is purely as a paying client.
My dog was into her senior years when I started coming to VCA and I enrolled her in the Care Club. I realize this may not be an option for some people, but it's such good preventative care and it amortizes costs which takes the sting out of routine pet visits since I paid a reasonable amount monthly. I truly saved money in the long run. It made dental care affordable and all the exams, blood work, x-rays, and vaccines are included.
When I had problems with a prescription I ordered through the mail order service (which is part of VCA corporate but isn't run by the pharmacy at the Desert Hospital) two different employees (sorry I don't remember your names) called me to help troubleshoot the issue and address my issue.
A couple of times when I needed to bring my dog in immediately, I was able to call ahead and they would call me if something opened up and it always did. They would squeeze me in same day. So sometimes when I had an appointment, and they had emergencies, I didn't mind waiting longer since I knew if it was my dog, I would get that priority treatment for an emergency as well.
I recently had to euthanize my dog and the care and compassion I received was wonderful. Also, I didn't know what expect when I chose a private cremation and the company they work with, Above & Beyond Pet Cremations, was beyond amazing (I wrote a review for them too). The whole presentation of my pet's remains was bespoke and lovely and VCA included a sweet handwritten card.
Overall, I find the staff to be warm, personable, attentive, and professional. They really do care about their patient animals. The facility is clean and well-maintained. They even name each of the examination rooms after a U.S. state. And I've never had an issue with not having my pet's needs met. It has been high quality care, through and through.
A huge thank you to Dr. Koodrich and the entire staff that took care of my dog over the last three-and-a-half years. You really did provide her with a better quality of life to the end. Thank you.”
“Put my poor Miss Thang to rest here. They handled the cremation and made it a wonderful and loving experience. Received her ashes in a beautiful box with a foot print and hand written card.”
“Hands down the most amazing vet I’ve been to. I took my cat Leo in due to a bladder obstruction. Doctor was very upfront about every part and knowing it could reobstruct. We decided to do treatment. We made it home after treatment and he’s on his new diet. Not only did I get a follow up from staff in the morning the next day. I received a call later from the doctor. Thank you for kindness! I can’t thank you guys enough. My animals are like my babies!”
“I truly do wish I could give you guys 10 stars. This place truly is one of a kind. Unfortunately my 13 week baby boy, Zee, swallowed cat litter what seems like right before we adopted him. He ended up getting extremely sick and needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately we are a low income family so this was scary. But with the help of a few different rescues, Mary Watkins over at Forgotten Felines being my biggest supporter, and Dr. Diaz who did everything to help us get him surgery, we were able to get the surgery for him. Dr. Diaz saved my baby’s life. We felt so heard and cared for, and like they truly cared more about the safety and well being of our animal, than anything else. We aren’t out of the dark quite yet, as Zee is still in recovery, but I know that with Dr. Diaz and all the staff over at The Cat Clinic, we will get through whatever is to come. Thank you guys so incredibly much. Your kindness and generosity will forever be remembered and cherished. ❤️”
