Dog came back in a very good condition, not traumatized and calm. The incision is minimal compared to my previous dog’s experience, should heal fast.

They remember all my dogs names and greet them everytime as soon we walk in the door. They even give a free nail trimming when you bring your pet in for a check-up. I highly recommend this place for your pet, they will give your pet the proper care and respect they deserve!

Canyon Veterinary Hospital
20897 Redwood Rd, Castro ValleyIt's Dr. Barrett. I wish we would have met him a long time ago. Trixie had some issues with her teeth and found Canyon. As with any veterinarian clinic, it costs extra for "emergency" visits. Thankfully we were not in that mode. We made a 1st time appointment brought her in and the teeth were cleaned and a tooth was removed. Dr. Barrett explained the whole thing up front. No B.S. and a very nice "bedside manners". Thank you Dr. Barrett again for our 3rd visit just to pick up meds for 4th of July anxiety. My dogs do not like fireworks. They shake, require holding and comforting for several hours while the population attempts to light off every firework that came off off the largest container ships that came into the Port. After the meds, Lola's stress reduced by 97% while Trixie was at least 90% until our neighbors started launching mortars in the street out front, bringing the experience to a whole new level. We didn't call em, but somebody did. And the show ended prematurely, and that was ok with us. We adopted Lola a few months ago. She going to get a cleaning soon. Dr. Barrett did a super job on Trixe, and after 3 visits (it actually only took one) if someone asks me where to go? Easy, Canyon Veterinarian Hospital!

Boulevard Pet Hospital
3489 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro ValleyI had a problem with my cat. In the morning I saw him limping. I called my regular vet they could see him for 3 weeks. I called another vet they couldn't see me for a month. They both said go to emergency vet well that would be 300.00 just to walk in. Boulevard vet took me at 3pm that day they took care of him. He's all better now after a few days. So when I was there I made appt for my other cat. For shots. Great friendly people. This will be my regular vet now.

Groveway Veterinary Hospital
2423 Grove Way, Castro ValleyI recently discovered Groveway Pet Hospital, and I'm grateful that I did. My initial visit was to have my male Standard Poodle euthanized, and Dr. Powell and Erica spoiled and pampered him, helping him gracefully and peacefully leave. Throughout the experience, I was treated with compassion and understanding. My second visit was with my 6-month-old Standard Poodle puppy, who needed immediate care. Dr. Powell and Erica, again, to the rescue! The Clinic's drop-off option worked beautifully for them to see her, diagnose her condition, and initiate treatment. My puppy made a mess of their floors on the way in, and everyone was extremely gracious about not only mopping up after her, but also giving her a cleaning. Dr. Powell called, thoroughly discussed the problem and provided clear steps on what to do for my puppy to heal. The team was extremely efficient, kind, and conscientious. I can tell you that my puppy, who'd only been to this clinic with the euthanizing of the other dog, ran straight for the front door, so this team is also Standard Poodle approved!

22222 Redwood Rd, Castro ValleyThis small family-owned business is big on customer service and features the most excellent coffee and empanadas you can buy. There are coffee and tea options galore, but my personal favorites are the cappuccino and the specialty latte drinks. You haven’t lived until the cinnamon latte has touched your lips! You can order in advance and get it to go, but you are missing out if you do that. Order ahead or order there and let them know it’s “for here” and it will be served in a beautiful ceramic cup with a unique design on top of the frothy milk. There are also many cold coffee creations, teas and other drinks available including a few great beers or tap. But don’t stop with just a drink in hand. Their empanadas are genuine Argentina style, perfect creations in a number of mouth-watering flavors. My personal favorites are the mushroom and the fugazetta (caramelized onion, mozzarella cheese, oregano), but there are at least 10 other types to choose from. They have a chimichurri sauce available that I think goes perfectly with many of their empanadas, especially the fugazetta. You can get these to go in a box or you can eat them in the cafe from a serving basket. Maybe get a Greek salad on the side to round out the meal. Add an Alfajor cookie or two for dessert! While you eat, you can admire the artwork exhibited on the walls, listen to the music, or maybe catch a tune from a local piano player. Oh, and the owners and staff are great - friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. So good you’ll like them as much as the coffee and empanadas! This is a ‘must try’ place - I’m hooked forever and come at least once a week for a couple of empanadas and a cappuccino or latte to go with that. OK, may be an Alfajor cookie, too. Too good to pass up!

17007 Redwood Rd, Castro ValleyI really wanted to get away for lunch at a quiet restaurant with a view. I found this place on Yelp. The weather was beautiful and so was the view on their patio. This place is located on an older golf course in the hills of Castro Valley. I noticed walking trails outside the perimeter of the parking lot. Must explore that next time. We had to drive around the back for parking and then enter the building that way. The bar and grill is right across from the driving range. Once inside, the bar/server gal was very friendly. You place your order with her and then she brings it out to you on the patio. Our sandwiches included a choice of either chips, fries or salad. We both chose a salad. It was $16 but all was prepared with fresh bread and ingredients. They also serve mixed drinks and beer inside. We really enjoyed sitting outside at the shaded, umbrella tables. I wish the metal chairs had cushions on them since after a short time, we were uncomfortable. A small price to pay for the beautiful views here looking out at the golf course while eating a delicious lunch! We'll be back.
