I can't speak more highly enough about our amazing experience here at Castro Valley's America's Best Contacts & Glasses. Pat was so knowle and beyond helpful due to our situation (we lost everything in the Lāhaina/Maui 8.8.23 fires - including our glasses). We will be customers for life.

I tried this office for the first time because I have Davis Vision and they are one of the few that take it near me. About me: I have been a glasses/contacts wearer for decades. I had LASIK in the early 90s and now need readers (1.5) and have some difficulty with night driving.I called, and they were able to get me an evening appointment (+)The office staff was friendly and I didn't have to wait long. (+)The doctor was nice, but kept talking to me like it was my first time at an eye appointment and explained EVERY machine and step. It was a little disconcerting, but not a deal breaker (?)The selection of glasses frames is excellent. I found several that I liked, and decided on Calvin Klein. (+)The technician clearly explained the costs for different options and what my insurance would cover for each one. (+)My glasses were ready in a week! (+)I wondered if I would wear them since I never wore the last pair of bifocals from another provider... But I do, and I love them. (++)In short, great office, great selection, great value and I will be back again!

I went in Feb to get a contact lens RX. It has been some years since I've had contacts, so after my exam they suggested that I go on trial runs to try different brands. I was told I would get a phone call in a week to pick up my trials because my RX was not in stock and it needed to be ordered. It's now April and I never got that call. I want to take my business elsewhere, but the RX form that was filled out was only filled out on the glasses portion and not the contacts portion so other places are telling me it's not valid for contacts. I paid for a contacts exam not glasses, I should be given that RX.

This place is easy to make an appointment online for the same week you are trying to be seen. Wasn't a long wait in the store either. The first time I came to the store to browse. The associate tells you about the deals and the color coded tags. They have many 2 for 1 deals. Grab two in the same color sequence and get a discount on the frames. They have 3 options for lenses to protect from glares. They have plans for those using insurance and those that do not. They are not a direct VSP vendors (out of network) so you have to submit a claim. However that is the best bang for your buck if you are double covered. They were on time for my appointment and efficient. They bring you to two different exam rooms and provided a trial for my contacts. The Dr was even able to answer a question about my 7 month old daughter which was very helpful. What I loved most about their program here is they have an annual test package for 3 year plus their glasses automatically come with a warranty. I'm not sure why I was ever going to target optical. They charge $100 per glasses for a warranty and I never used it . I'll be back for sure to America's best.

We came here for an appointment after Kaiser cancelled my son's eye appointment. We were faced with a broken pair of glasses for a school-aged boy who depends on them on a daily basis.The appointment was efficient! The staff was very helpful and kind. I think we will be coming here from now on for all our eyeglasses needs

I did my exam for an eyeglass prescription in December with optometrist Adam Glover. Soon, I felt like something was wrong with the lens and I had a headache the entire time. I had to redo it again at Costco. This doctor is incompetence to do his job, I would rather call him America’s worst optometrist.

So frustrating. I will not be back. Staff tries but doesn't seem to be trained with any specifics about the industry. All questions need to go back to the overwhelmed eye doctor. My prescription appeared to be wrong, I couldn't talk to the doctor, the staff sent me in circles trying to help but had to rely on the doctor. After a few days of stating I have the wrong prescription they said let's just wait two weeks until in comes in a see. Finally cancelled the order and ordered online with someone else. Looks like "my" version was right. You may save a few bucks, but odds are you will be frustrated and take a few tries to get things right...maybe. I feel bad for the staff, they are setup to fail and the environment is depressing. A good example of what goes wrong in healthcare when big companies take over.

I've been shopping at America's Best for 4 years. Great place to come if you have no insurance $50 vision test and two pairs for $130.00. I love the Ray Ban options that they have for prescription. I also love the Sean John glasses, which I've probably bought 4 pairs of that collection alone. I see reviews saying "cheap glasses", which maybe you should pick something of better quality because they do have it available, so maybe stop being CHEAP. They do have insurance for scratches and breaks. I've scratched my blue coated Ray ban sun glasses, and I've never had an issue with them fixing them. On the other hand they done a great job. The girls here are always professional, and the doctors do a great job. I have diabetes and am losing vision in my left eye, they've been able to help my vision get better! I have seen great improve in my eyes with the help of America Best! I am truly grateful for all the help. I am a tougher customer to please because I'm picky about the glasses that I pick, but they always have options for high end and cheaper versions if that's what you seek. Thank you to the staff. I worked customer service for 20 years. Some people can never be pleased, as you can clearly see from some of the impatient comments that I read. I apologize on behalf of those impatient, needy, and less understanding human beings. This staff is great and should be applauded for the fast pace customer service that the provide.
