There are a few products that are cheaper here than at other stores but overall the quality of the products is scary. I purchased $9.00 of ice cream that turned out to be totally rancid, spoiled and literally had ridges and chunks of water turned ice due to the product having been repeatedly thawed then re-frozen. It stunk. Disgusting. I had to toss it. Found my receipt. Went back to the store, and they refused to make good on the product despite having the receipt in hand. No notice in the store requires the return of disgusting, stinky product. Why would I hold on to filth in my car for a couple of days since I don't live next door to the store. I went back as soon as I could. Judy is a nasty racist manager. This store ripped me off because I don't have the right skin color. I want nothing to do with Smart & Final. They only rip you off. Thieves.

My wife and I were in Carpinteria for a few weeks in the summer of 2023 and this grocery store was a half mile walk from the place we were staying. It had a great selection of everything we needed including beer and soda and produce like celery. I learned a new dip combination too. Fat free Greek Yogurt and salsa from those big 1/3 gallon jugs. Cur up some celery and you are in business for a healthy and crunchy snack. The had Crystal Light packages for the pitchers, which I made often to cool off from our four mile walks on the Carpinteria Beach. Great service, the bathroom does have a lock that you need to find an employee to open, but that was about the only downside. Beer was expensive but that seems to be the case all over California grocery stores. Great local grocery store in a small town.

Smart & Final Extra is recently remodeled and looks brighter, larger and nicer than ever and I really like it. Prices are good and checkout is generally faster than Albertsons. While I might not find all of my favorite grocery items, I can get a lot of my favorites here. Produce department is excellent ?. Certainly good for household paper products and cleaning supplies. New expanded wine and liquor department now with the remodel!

Too nad they cant get tjeir prices right. Im not shopping there again. I dont have time to dilly dally at the register wjen they cant get their prices right. Wjy do they hire imbiciles as cadhiets and gamgsters as managers?

So I came to this place & was initially happy with my purchases until I got to my car, unloaded & found a $2.50 item missing. I walk back in to see if it was left on the counter by the bagger by mistake. The manager says she had to look at the tape. Well, I've never had a manager say that. I was taken aback but I waited, cuz I had searched my bags & car thoroughly before going back to the store. After waiting like 10 minutes, which at this point I felt like saying f-it & leaving, She comes back to say the item was placed in one of my bags. I didn't argue cuz I was fed up by this point. I went back to my car drove home, unpacked & NEVER found that item that was supposedly bagged. I guess I won't be shopping at this Smart N Finale when I'm in the area.

They have done away with the bakery. The produce is hit or miss. Staff is unfriendly. Parking lot is small. ?

Good store with good prices and great location with great parking. Too bad it's not used more and I can't figure out why. Many their selection is not as good as Albertsons but....
