Terrible vet. I should have known to avoid this place when I saw the giant mountain lion statue peering down over their waiting area. I’m sure a giant lifelike predator makes the animals feel very comfortable. My experience as the owner was also very unpleasant. I called to ask if I needed an appointment to get my dog more flea meds. They said no, I could come by any time to get my dog weighed and get more meds as long as she’s been seen in the last year. It’s been about 6 months since her last visit with them. I called again right before coming to double check and a second time was told I didn’t need an appointment. Guess what they said when I drove across town. I need a visit and to pay for blood tests because she is almost a year. Even though she has been seen recently. And they couldn’t get her in that day for the blood tests so we left with no medicine and in a bad mood. Thanks for wasting my time. I will find another vet that cares more about their patients and their owners.

This clinic is great! Dr. Bulkeley recommended a new arthritis medication for my senior dog and now my dog is acting like a puppy again. I really appreciated the time and care offered by this clinic and all of its staff- I highly recommend bringing your pets here.

One week ago my beloved dog died acutely because of Dr. Yuh's failure to a) identify a sick dog and b) provide a diagnosis that made sense given her signs and symptoms. My sweet girl was diagnosed with an ear infection when she had a set of symptoms that did not correlate with this diagnosis: she had foul pus draining from her mouth, smelled of ketones and infection, and had stopped eating and drinking water. I was told that she had a NEW HEART MURMUR. I was given topical antibiotics for an ear infection. I was not given any instruction for when to seek emergency care. The next morning, I called my own dog in oral antibiotics and gave her subcutaneous fluid. She continued to worsen so I took her to the emergency veterinarians. She was admitted to ICU with sepsis and ultimately died of endocarditis. This failure at diagnosis on the part of Dr. Yuh is infuriating and heartbreaking to me and my friend is forever gone. I can't speak to Dr. Yuh's ability to provide primary care, but I can say that he failed to identify a sick dog and failed to diagnose a dental infection. As a medical provider, I routinely have to answer for my own errors in diagnosis. In this situation, my dog is gone and I can never get her back and I trusted this office with her. Dr. Bamford is a very good clinician.

I used to love this VCA but unfortunately there have been several issues that we truly cannot overlook since we don't feel like our dogs health and well-being is valued here.We had gotten our dog examined a few months ago and our prescriptions updated. A few weeks ago I noticed one of my dog's anxiety medication was not refilling correctly as he was supposed to get 2 pills a day, not 1 pill a day so we weren't getting enough pills. I contacted the center to let them know it was put wrong and to see if they can update it to give back to our pharmacy. They give me a call to say it's ready for pickup and I drive all the way over only to notice it's the same prescription. I told the receptionist it was not actually updated to which the receptionist said the dosage of the medication is considered a mild overdose for our dog so the vet would not give the original prescription (the same prescription he's been on for 2 years which she could have told us during our exam a few months ago was not appropriate). So we were told to go down by HALF of this medication without being able to talk to the vet because she conveniently was not in the office at that time. Our dogs behaviors drastically changed and we called to let them know of all the issues we were seeing and to see if we could speak to the vet. We go back and forth for weeks being told the vet would call us (she only called once in this whole ordeal and left a VM once, every other time was a receptionist/technician).At one point, which really was the biggest red flag, we were told by the technician over the phone that we could give him a dosage amount in the middle by "cutting open one of the capsules, making 3 equal piles of the powder, re-filling them into a capsule, and giving our dog the meds"...to which we said no since we don't have any "d" dealing skills that would make us feel confident about doing that accurately. The last icing on the cake was being told AGAIN the vet was going to call us a few days ago and she never did. No one told us to just make another appointment, no one cared about how all of this medication changes is affecting our dog, and no one seems competent after all this. There are other VCAs who charge a much less exam fee and are far better at follow ups than this VCA. We warn all of our family and friends to avoid this VCA and would suggest you do the same.

Felt a strong compassionate, professional atmosphere. You can tell that they all love animals like you do.A little pricey for me but how can you put a price on trust, loyalty and love.Thank you to all who took care of my little Luah today.

Thank you thank you thank you VCA staff and vets! The hardest thing is when your pet has to be put down. We said goodbye to our beloved cat Billie today. The level of care and compassion they showed was incredible! My family can not say thank you enough for making this time so much easier and the knowing we were being taken care of....priceless. You forever have our business VCA! So grateful. RIP Billie!

I was charged 43$ without being forewarned of the cost for a nail trim for my dog that I brought in for what I thought might be an eye and ear infection. Ended up not having an infection- possibly allergies. They admitted his ears were somewhat blocked with wax but they did not bother to clean them out. I was sent home with 2 prescriptions and the total bill was around $410.00. I could not tell they had clipped his nails as they were just as sharp as before. I called and was told that not all of the nails had been clipped because of the quick being to close. When I asked why they were so sharp I was told they needed grinding, but that was an additional charge. My own pedicure's are less than that and I get a massage, and all the extras. I NEVER take my pet to this vet because I am very happy with the vet he usually visits. Unfortunately, they were closed, so I was limited. I strongly recommend- unless you have no problem paying $43 for a nail clipping without being told of the cost that doesn't even include all nails- avoid this location!!!! Even after I explained I was not told of the extra charge- they did not offer to remove the charge for a job partially completed and poorly at best.If I could give zero stars- I would. This place is pathetic!!!!i They take financial advantage of people at a grotesque level! Truly disgraceful!!!

I adopted my dog from SPCA Sacramento on June 16. We made the complimentary first vet appointment with this VCA. I was confused when the veterinarian said that SPCA Sacramento does such a great job with health care for the dogs that, there wasn't really anything to do. We asked about her eyes. The veterinarian looked at my concern and reassured me the what I saw was just natural pigment. Great- I appreciated the reassurance! So far so good. Then we told him that she is sensitive around the ears and please check them over. The veterinarian said, they look fine and clean around the outside with no redness so all is good. I didn't see him actually look closely at the dog's ears. Well, here's the frustrating part, exactly 2 days later she had a swollen ear flap- like a balloon about to pop. Today I took her to Banfield and it turns out she DID have an ear infection. She shook her head so much that she broke a blood vessel in the ear flap. So now I have a $600 bill for sedation, draining the hematoma, and treating the ear infection (that started all this!) I felt like this VCA just wanted to do vaccines and puppy stuff, but we adopted an 8 year old dog. They wouldn't get much money from us? My dog's ears were neglected. I'm very disappointed. I do not recommend VCA Carmichael.

One of the best offices I’ve been too! They got me in the same day I called for a urgent issue with my pup. Dr. Dillion was especially attentive and made sure my girl was taken care of and quickly!

Staff was very friendly and sensitive to my pets needs. We needed our two and a half year old hamster cremated and that's not typical to do but they figured it out and even gave us a couple momentous of his paw prints and a beautiful chest to keep his remains in

I've been coming here for years with my dog but today was the last visit. We were there for nearly 2 hours and, similar to previous poor reviews, staff was uncommunicative and rude. We were the only customers there yet I still couldn't have any answers as to when I would get my dog back (they had her for an hour for an "exam") and wouldn't let me pay either. I asked several times about where/how she was, and kept getting eye rolls and that they would "check" and no one ever got back to me. I also asked to speak with the vet for clarification on a $450 test I was paying for (due to the tech being unable to answer my questions) and was denied. Very confusing to be treated like this after paying over $800 for this visit alone. The front 2 women in the front were speaking poorly about another client when they left, loudly. (Red headed woman was very polite, but the other two today around 11am were feeding off each other's bad behavior). Super unprofessional - not to mention we are here with concerns about our loved pets. It's already a difficult enough experience.I had to ask for meds they left out, and then had to turn around as they didn't give me the food I paid for either. SUPER disappointed in VCA and hoping they take this as a training opportunity for their staff to better serve their clients because this was truly disgusting.

Horrible Horrible Vet Office. I have been working with dog rescues for 10 years. I made an appointment for my pup who was having extreme pain. The day before my appointment my dog was mauled by another dog and passed. In the morning before I could call to reschedule I got a voicemail from CATHRINE at this office saying “You missed your appointment so we will not see your other dog next week” who was scheduled to be seen. It was the rudest voicemail I have ever gotten from a vet in the past 15 years of my life. This person shouldn’t be working with animals with such an insensitive attitude. I understand missing an appointment can be an inconvenience for you vets but we owners pay enough to have atleast some respect and concern. I will be taking my dogs elsewhere and will take this to corporate

Literally just left this place a little over an hour ago after we had to put our best bud down. The whole staff was compassionate and completely supportive and made this very difficult process as easy as possible for my wife, kids, and myself. Thank you guys for taking care of our Apollo. We miss him so much already. Pictures was when he was a healthy boy.

Establishing care was super easy and I had a great experience for our first appointment. Got my dogs vaccines updated and he was very happy with all the vet techs.
