The store has recently been purchased and the not so friendly previous owners are no longer involved or around. The new owners are super nice and really cool people. The store is super clean now and has so much new product to offer. Organic, local, eco friendly, climate change friendly and fresh. They really are doing their part to make the world a better place and bringing a fresh new store to the beautiful town of Carmel by the Sea. If you have never been, you should check it out and if you have, you should give the store another try. You will be pleasantly surprised with what you find. Nielsen Brothers Market is a long time staple of the city and I'm so happy to see all the positive changes they are making.

I am going to call out every business that does not greet customer's and this is one of them. No may I help you at the deli counter when I was the only one there looking at the case. I then went to pay at the checkout stand and the young clerk didn't say hi or hello or nothing but take my money, no thank you or have a nice day. Not asking for red carpet treatment just acknowledgment would have been enough.

This is a classic spot my soccer team goes to on our yearly Carmel trip. The deli in the back allows you to customize your own sandwiches with a variety of ingredients, and is always stocked with chips and drinks that hit to spot after a soccer game. The hot sandwiches are my favorite. Many memories have been made here! My only complaint is the not eye catching interior and ambiance, and the mediocre customer service.

Great selection of food and wine at a reasonable price, but that's not how they earned a one star review from me. The ostentatious wine guy they employ was quick to spew xenophobic comments and ramble endlessly as if that would impress me. He also returned one of my questions with a scoff and an insult. I would steer clear of this place unless you're impressed by tasteless class and lack of respect.

Lol at the pissy kids who can't get their alcohol. Privately owned store = she can refuse service if she is not comfortable with vertical IDs.Anyway, delicious tri tip sandwhich at the deli in the back. Make-your-own style with a form you fill out. Guy making them was by himself but still was very polite and was working hard to be fast. I thought the price was very good considering its actual slices of steak within the sandwhich!Other items in the store seemed very overpriced but I guess thats downtown Carmel for you. Highly recommend!

Overly priced!!!! Like triple and above! I understand there are many people who are well off and they live here & that there are not many grocery stores nearby but it's not that we are in a desert to pay $13 for a small bucket of ice crean

Had a troubling experience with the store manager. There on a Sunday morning to pick up a quick breakfast sandwich. I pay, leave, hit the road and discover that they mislabeled the sandwich. I go back to ask for a new one. The cashier was nice enough and said I could grab a new one. The store manager however is watching this and seems upset, and as I walking out the door yells "is there a problem". I tell him the problem and instead of saying "sorry we screwed up" and "sorry you had to come back", grabs the original sandwich and angrily throws in the the trash. Then starts muttering something, I hear him saying "f'in stupid...". Guessing he's one of the "brothers", but he's just disgruntled and all around unpleasant. Btw, the sandwich was cr*p anway. IF YOU WANT A GREAT SANDWICH AND REALLY NICE PEOPLE, GO TO 5TH AVE DELI.

We had amazing grilled sausage on the food tour. We even went back to take home some Spicy Italian. I enjoyed looking at all the jelly's and condiments that have their label on them. What a gem!

This is my go-to market whenever I’m in Carmel. They have everything you could need, and at very reasonable prices for the area.In the mornings, they also serve really great grab-and-go breakfast burritos and sandwiches, as well as freshly brewed hot coffee.

Great little grocery store for all things when you're in Carmel. They have an amazing deli in the back too! Only thing is sometimes when its busy the check out process can be slow but doesnt stop me from getting what I need.

The old lady working wouldn’t let me purchase alcohol with my id that states I’m over 21. She refused to look at the date and claimed there was a new law that states vertical ids can’t be used to purchase alcohol.
