“This is my favorite store in the world! I did not realize they had one in Carmel. Probably a good thing :)! While it is a very small store it is packed with lots of wonderful clothes and accessories. So many cute winter items. A cashmere scarf I really wanted but I will wait for the end of the December sale. Unique and well made quality clothes. Things are pricey here! Speaking of sales... That is when I do my best shopping with J McLaughlin. Bought a cool blouse and tweed jacket yesterday. Summer and fall items that are gorgeous and on sale. Was not sure if I liked the small fit of the jacket so I ordered a medium and had it sent home so I can try. Easy returns via mail with no charge. The best thing about the Carmel store is the manager, Jessica! She is uber helpful and so sweet. She knows her clothing line also. That is why she is the manager :). One of the most helpful sales people I have run into as of late. Thank you, Jessica, for all your assistance and patience. Pretty cute picture of her I posted hanging in the doorway wearing all her J McLaughlin clothes. The cool thing is I can call her from my home in El Dorado Hills and have her order or ask questions about the items. How cool is that. I am pretty sure you could call her too. Did I mention they are having a 40% off sale right now...”

“Beautifully curated, high and mid-end fashions. Mostly women but that's normal. My wife loves that the apparel are well made, fabric is very soft and fit is great. They carry names brands and nice trinkets for the home. You can find some great stuff here that is really affordable. As normal go to the rear of the store to get to the sale section. For Carmel, this store is very affordable. The staff always friendly and greets everyone coming through the door! They are not overbearing following you around the store, they allow you to browse and do your thing. Always with a smile, asking if you need assistance.”

“I tend to purchase James Perse clothing while traveling due to it’s practical and comfortable nature. I find that under packing allows for shopping at the destination. I found this comfortable, welcoming store and spent quite a bit of time looking around. Staff was friendly and informative. I found a fun collection of brands from which to choose and ended up selecting from their James Perse offerings. I was surprised to discover that this store is relatively new; it sure felt as if had been here in Carmel for years. I’ll certainly return when I next visit Carmel.Four years later:I stop by this store when visiting here annually. I usually find something for myself and a few pieces for my daughter because she is a smaller, more common, size. I find fun clothing that I don't see at stores near home and I'm pleased to be able to see and touch fabrics, avoiding the disappointment I've experienced when purchasing on line. I do not treasure being bombarded by overbearing sales staff and this place is comfortable, allowing me to explore while they answer questions regarding brand sizing. Among favorites items at this store are the Carbon brand tee shirts which, amazingly, are long enough for my 6'7" husband. Each visit we are able to purchase a couple new colors. The fabric is substantial and they wash well.”
