Finally somebody in the store decided to help me find Castro oil but she also said: why people are so crazy about Castro oil? I think this store likes to hire only rude people!

I have been a frequent shoppers there for the past 6 months because I appreciate organic, vegan, and local foods. I’ve spent $1000s of dollars there. But the rudeness and unkindness from several employees, including aggressive lecturing by Paisley on more than one occasion, obvious ignoring, cold looks, resentment at the register, is not good. This rudeness along with the overpricing have me questioning if I should ever shop there again.

Cornucopia is a expensive little grocery store that has employees who are not interested in helping customers. Customer service was basically non existent. When I asked the cashier a question she said she doesn't know and then ignored me. The store itself is not anything special and I would suggest going across the street to the big chain grocery store or drive to Monterey and go to Whole Foods. This little grocery store gets one star.

I had a deeply negative experience with one of the cashiers here recently. I am a Carmel local and have been an avid customer at this grocery store because I love supporting local businesses.I came in with a legitimate food quality issue that led me to ask for an exchange or refund. It was the first time I had ever done that. I was met with a very aggressive and dismissive attitude by the cashier, who made a spectacle in front of the whole store.I love this little store but I will not allow myself to be treated that way by anyone. Hopefully management will take these complaints here seriously and do something about unfriendly vibe of some of their employees, or they will end up scaring off more customers. Needless to say, I am no longer shopping here.

Let's just say the person at the register was completely uninterested in being there. Customer service wasn't lacking but completely non existent even though there wasn't anyone she was helping she seemed annoyed when I asked a question. Forget the crazy prices etc I thought this was a cute place but that interaction alone with the miss at the counter with dark hair has put me off this place completely. Hopefully the get some better staff.

After reading some of these reviews, I finally understand that the ridiculous, childish attitude of the middle aged cashier with black hair and short bangs (kind of goth) isn't personal--she's just a rude, angry person. Every time I have ever gone in there, unfortunately this miserable soul is working. She makes a point to be rude, give me dirty looks, and generally treat me like I am a big pile of human trash standing in front of her. We get it; she hates her job, she hates people, heck, it seems like she hates life itself. At this point I just ask my boyfriend to go in because she's oddly friendly with him. After a couple of years of coming here, the only explanation I can come up with is that she hates other women. I have found that this store carries a niche line of products that I can't find elsewhere, but honestly I'd rather buy online than spend the money that will go toward her salary. She is truly one of the most blatantly rude people I've ever had to interact with. Having to deal with her outweighs any of the positives to this shop.

Only market in Monterey County with great quality fresh English peas in bulk that just came in stock. Just shuck & steam to find out how good they are compared with frozen. Once you try, you will never go back. Check it out!

Buyer beware. I don’t know Mary Cascino or Sheena but their reviews are both accurate. There is an underlying negative tension from two of the older ladies at the register, who are usually there in the evening. I used to avoid shopping at that time of day because of it. I instead chose to spend hundreds of dollars a month here in the afternoons and mornings only for what was probably a year here (we live here full time). Even the nice cashiers feel resentful that people are checking out, it’s pretty bizarre but I consciously overlooked it to get my family what they needed. One day, I opened a pack of taco shells that I bought here and a cloud of musty aroma hit me in the face. I checked the expiration and they were a year past the expiration date. I brought them into the store in the evening - my mistake - and tried to be super sweet and give them back to the lady at the register. She mirrored my concern and I asked if she could refund me - to which she vehemently retorted “sweetheart, if I refunded everybody we would have no money left here”. It felt super unprofessional, factually inaccurate (I hope) and out of line. Maybe I’m sensitive or maybe there are places just as good to shop with a great vibe (Elroy’s). I haven’t been back here since. I see that the management also does not bother to address these experiences people are having. After reading the reviews and having my experiences mirrored in writing, I won’t ever be back.

I love this place but the cashier was weird. She claimed she couldn't help me until I put the three bottles of essential oils in a very specific spot because the credit card machine was closer for her. I made my 45$ purchase and the cashier refused to place my items in the area best suited for the customer. It felt like a weird emotional tug of war to see who has the power to make the other person do something to make HER experience better. Last time I checked these cashiers are here for the customer, or has that changed. I've heard McDonalds is replacing customer service personnel with robots, I'd really hate to see that come to places like Cornucopia but if the cashiers are working against the business owner and being difficult to customers maybe people will switch to online sales and avoid the attitude.

Natural health food store. Some foods have canola / seed oils, so watch the labels.Great stuff though otherwise.

This store carries things I can't find in other markets in the area so 2 stars instead of 1 star, but service needs improvement. When I asked if they carry a product, guy there responded in so many words that they don't carry junk food type brand of what I wanted. I'm Asian/Pacific Islander ...so wondered... did he think my appearance suggested I wouldn't be looking for healthier choices of food. At any rate, he didn't show me where the product was. Then the register clerk pointed to the shelves saying we only have those... which were what I was looking for. Wasn't impressed with the help.

There are 2 women who work at the register that consistently give me the most shamelessly obvious dirty looks every time I’ve shopped here that I’ve literally left the store without buying anything (even though I was planning on it) because they made me feel so uncomfortable. Beware of this ambient abuse if you’re a young lady dressed casually.Other than that the other ppl who work there are nice.

People who run the store are not very welcoming and are rude to people of color.
