They remove tags and mark up product 20-30% above retail. I don’t see how this is legal… BEWARE!! Look online for the item price before you purchase.

Love this store and the customer service was outstanding. My only issue is the price. Same clothes on the designer's website were cheaper by like 20.00-30.00 dollars. They were not on sale-this was their price across multiple sites. Again, the store is amazing. I just didn't like seeing that I was paying more just to buy from this store.

Mediocre customer service by who I presume is the manager or owner, and the markup prices are insane. Bought solid perfume for $70 and found it online for $50, bought shades as well for $190 and online they were $140. Their return policy is also abhorrent. The manager didn’t even let me know the total before I paid either. Something sketchy is going on in that store. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

My husband bought clothes worth over 400$. They assured him he could return since he's out of state. We returned the items, never got a refund or anything. Tried calling for weeks. I demand we get our refund!

I tend to purchase James Perse clothing while traveling due to it’s practical and comfortable nature. I find that under packing allows for shopping at the destination. I found this comfortable, welcoming store and spent quite a bit of time looking around. Staff was friendly and informative. I found a fun collection of brands from which to choose and ended up selecting from their James Perse offerings. I was surprised to discover that this store is relatively new; it sure felt as if had been here in Carmel for years. I’ll certainly return when I next visit Carmel.Four years later:I stop by this store when visiting here annually. I usually find something for myself and a few pieces for my daughter because she is a smaller, more common, size. I find fun clothing that I don't see at stores near home and I'm pleased to be able to see and touch fabrics, avoiding the disappointment I've experienced when purchasing on line. I do not treasure being bombarded by overbearing sales staff and this place is comfortable, allowing me to explore while they answer questions regarding brand sizing. Among favorites items at this store are the Carbon brand tee shirts which, amazingly, are long enough for my 6'7" husband. Each visit we are able to purchase a couple new colors. The fabric is substantial and they wash well.

Expect a 30% markup from retail. Weird vibes from the white haired employee too. Blech.

Nice shop (nice area). Nice staff. 2 stars for prices and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE... EVER. Have tried calling for WEEKS. Returns have to be FedEx unless you're local. Shop somewhere else or online after you get your size right.

There isn't a lot of selection in Carmel so when a store has it, I'm happy to pay more because I understand rents are higher and less don't have to drive to get things. However the markups here are over the top. In some cases I've seen double retail. It doesn't help that staff is very smug about it. When I went to buy a $398 pullover and saw it was $480 there I just left it at the counter. I really don't mind spending on clothes but I like to work with stores that I can have a relationship with.

Really nice, well curated clothing shop that specializes in modern West Coast style. Norm core, minimalist, and athleisure are their specialities

I'm local and a long time Carmel resident. I've been in this store several times. Customer service has always been poor. They never acknowledge nor ask if you need any help. Today, October 6, 2022 I went in around 5:30ishpm. I was trying on an Alo Sherpa jacket, as I was returning one back, this older looking lady wearing a trucker-hat told me to zipper up the jacket. I was stunned at her attitude and instead of asking if I needed help she asked me to do her job?!!I rarely leave negative reviews because I believe everyone deserves a chance and negative reviews can impact a business. But after repeat poor customer service and after today's awful experience, it justifies leaving one. To the owner, please train your employees on treating your customers with kindness and respect.

Was in store yesterday August 23 & the gentleman working showed us the area what we were looking for & left to his desk. No other customers in store. When we mentioned things were hanging too high for us to reach he still didn’t help. Will never shop there again!!

I wish I could give no stars after what my daughter and I just experienced. We are locals, who asked the store to contact us after a pair of Jean shorts arrived. When we went to pick them up, after communication that they would be behind the counter, The salesman was rude, barely tried to help locate them, and said go look over there. It was very uncomfortable for me and my daughter. This man should not be in any customer service job.

Stopped in here to purchase some ALO. Mind you I am 80% of the time dressed in ALO head to toe these days (since 2020). I am a devoted customer of ALO. I don't think Carbon California should carry this brand. Why? How about the lady working there was beyond rude. She asked if she could help me. Sure, I wanted to see if they had a jacket in xx small. I had just tried on the jacket in x small and just wanted to try on a xx small (if available) for comparison. Rude lady who was there by herself on Monday 8/2 says no. Ok fine. Then she proceeds to tell me that xx small is REALLY small. "It's so small, no one is that small." WOW. We are in 2022 lady - STOP with your BODY SHAMMING. It doesn't stop there - she continues to tell me that they don't order that size even though she knows that ALO carries it. She tells me they never would order that size BECAUSE NO ONE is that size. Well news flash lady- obviously some people are that size and ALO caters to them. If you are going to work at a clothing store just say " no sorry we don't carry that size here". Simple. No body shamming. No going into your own drama. Bad experience here. Out of principal I will just order the jacket or purchase at my local ALO store. Oh and as I was hanging up the jacket, she shouts across the store- " you need to zip up the front or it will fall off the hanger". No please, thank you or let me take care of that. Hahaha. Beyond rude cherry on top of rude body shamming.
