This is a great veterinary office with exceptional vets and support staff! They are always able to accommodate urgent visit requests and everyone is so friendly and efficient. After every visit, I always get a follow up phone call to see how my dog is doing - even after a well-check appointment! I love Dr. Runyan who has the best bedside manner and never pushes anything. She provides all the options and recommendations and allows you to make the best decision for your pet. Your pets are in good hands here!

My family and I have been taking our dog Lani here for years. I recently started taking my puppy Jax here. For the most part they have been very helpful and kind. They are very short over the phone and I thought it was simply because they're just busy. I came in today for my puppies last vaccinations, which was discussed over the phone when making my appointment . Me and my boyfriend came in and were having a friendly conversation with the two women who were assisting us. They then petted my dog and asked us normal questions. In no way was it an examination or were we ever told an examination was taking place .They then attempted to have us buy $469 worth of treatments when all Jax needed were his last vaccinations. They then said we needed to pay $62 for an "exam" when really all they did was pet him while my boyfriend had a conversation about dog food. Sooo disappointing considering we wanted this location to be Jax's main vet. In the long run we would've spent way more than the $62. But because of their lack of communication we just feel very unfairly treated and feel we should take our dogs elsewhere.

Very unprofessional staff and management at Carlsbad Animal Hospital. I called ahead and specifically asked if I could bring my 1 year old, healthy cat in, just for the shots that he needed. I did not want any additional exam as we had had one there recently, and I could not afford it. The girl on the phone spoke with a supervisor, called me back and said, yes no problem, bring him in just for the shots, and we will not do an exam so you will only pay for the shots. Then, when we are were the room with the vet, the next thing I knew, they presented me with a list of charges, including an exam fee. I reminded them that I called ahead and specifically got permission to come in without an exam. I'm sure this is not something they like to do, but they did approve it, that day, over the phone, otherwise I would have gone to Petsmart instead and paid much less. Next, they sent in a girl who was not kind at all who said (with major hostility) that I had to pay for the exam, because the vet had to get paid. I understand that vets need to be paid, and if I had not been told that there would be no exam and I would not be charged for an exam, it would be a different story. Alas, I'd been in the room forever, my cat was scared, I had to pick up my child from school, so I paid, but asked that the manager please contact me. She never did. I feel that the way they handled this situation was very unprofessional and dishonest. I was never contacted, and I called and asked that Molly call me regarding this, and I posted a review, and this business still never had the courtesy to respond.

Routine ear appointment for dog... Office visit and culture... $99 Requested another $40 to clean 1 ear. Requested triple the price for antibiotics you can buy online... Requested hazardous waste fee ?? $9.50 For what I asked. The assistant doesn't have an answer. What's the hazard? It's a medical center... Hazardous waste is everywhere.. nothing was performed to the dog for creating such a hazard.... Ok, you get the picture... Avoid Carlsbad animal hospital and get a facility that cares about animals and not trying to rip you off

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very accommodating with rescheduling as well. It has a nice waiting area to hang out while your pet is being treated. They don't seem busy and pay sufficient amount of time answering your questions. Very happy with their service.

Sadly I have been here. Our dog was very ill more so than we understood. Of course this happened on a weekend. They were very efficient it's very clean and in the end we had to put our dog down. They are good with this process if you find yourself there. The cost was reasonable in my view for being Sunday in Carlsbad plus the whole sad difficult process. I took one star off because I did not appreciate having a second person in the room (someone training ) when we had to hear the news and then make the worst of all decisions This was not for spectators in my opinion. It's a responsible place under very hard circumstances

I have had dogs my entire life and worked in the pet industry for over a decade, many years of which were in veterinary. I can tell you right now if you are looking for a great general practice veterinarian- look no further. This place is awesome. The doctors are all amazing, their bedside manner is fantastic and they always listen to my concerns. I have never felt pressured into procedures or vaccinations that weren't right for my pet, when at other hospitals you walk in and feel like all they see is dollar signs. Carlsbad Animal Hospital genuinely cares about the health and wellbeing of your pets. They are open late and they are always able to work us in last minute. I cannot believe that they do not have 5 stars on yelp. Obviously, if you go inland to places where the cost of living is much lower (Vista, San Marcos etc), prices for services are going to be much less! I own a business in the village and can attest- the rent and utilities are not cheap!! For the area, their prices are more than fair. When they want to do additional diagnostics, it is for the good of your pet. Dr. Runyan's health plan for my senior Shihtzu mix and her commitment to finding what was going on with his bloodwork literally saved my dog's life. I will continue to recommend Carlsbad Animal Hospital to all of my customers, friends, and family. They truly are the best in north county. I wish they treated exotics so I could bring all of my pets here! Love you guys! -Boo, Chevy, Oriole, and Jujubee

Dr. K has always been wonderful. I have seen her for years with my huskies. The vet is within walking distance for us and open 7 days a week.

I can not say enough amazing things about Dr. Runyan, Dr. Warren, Nikki, and Jordan! Every time I have had to take my dogs in, they were emergency situations but have been lucky enough to end up with the same doctors and techs which makes my dogs feel more comfortable. I really like how they remember my dogs and I feel like it puts my dogs at ease. I am so thankful for how much they helped us out with finances and were able to work with us on what they felt was absolutely necessary and what could be trimmed. I never felt pressured to do anything I wasn't comfortable with and appreciate how honest and upfront they always are. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU CARLSBAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

Found them to be very overpriced and do not give them your email address. I went there some time back. Our dog had a bump growing on his eyelid and we were concerned it would started rubbing against his cornea so we brought him in as we didn't have a vet in our new home town. They examined him and concluded that $800 was what the removal would cost. Shocked at the price I waited another 6 months as the bump wasn't too large before going back to schedule the appointment. The price was now $1,000 as the cost of medications and other items had increased so much within that time. So, I took the estimate sheet to a vet in Vista. They looked at it. Started slashing unnecessary items off of it. Questioned why they would ever need to do them. And our dog safely and successfully had the bump removed for $450! I gave CAH my email address when I brought my dog in. I started receiving emails every 2-3 months. Fine, except I've "unsubscribed" from their email list at least a half dozen times since I brought him in and I STILL get them. I don't even live in the same damn state anymore! I recommend another vet. One that doesn't try to sell you things you don't need and respects your privacy. Two stars for the assistants being nice.

Carlsbad Animal Hospital is great! They took care of our cat and puppy over the last two years we lived in Carlsbad. They were always very friendly and compassionate with our animals and we felt like they truly cared. We recently moved to Hawaii and needed a lot of records, vaccinations etc and the staff was always very willing to help and quick to respond to questions or requests for records. We were ALWAYS greeted with a smile and great attitude/atmosphere when going here. You can tell these doctors and staff really love their jobs and their patients! Thank you guys so much for all the help and we wish you the best!

My dog has had an issue with her rear leg for a long time. Limping. Immediately greeted with smiles and knowing my dog and I as we entered. Right after initial forms we were in a room. Almost immediately the technician introduced herself and took detailed notes and treated us like patients not a number. Before the tech was done the doctor walked in. She knew exactly how to handle the situation. I felt comfortable in her approach and beyond happy with our treatment and the time given to us. I highly recommend this Hospital for any reason. Particularly Dr. Kagan-Hart and Amy were the staff that helped. Thank you
