This business used to be THE BEST. John, the owner, was mannerly, honest, and wonderful to work with. I trusted him and this business for eight years. Then sadly, John retired. The business moved one block north and everything changed. The attitude and, most upsetting, the charge for an oil change! In the past I pair between $69 and $80. Today I was charged a whopping $142.94 -- for an oil change! Well, he lost a long-time loyal customer and earned this review. I am so done.

John and his team were fantastic to work with on my 1992 MB 190E. He was very informative, knowledgeable and helpful going above and beyond the call of duty. I am new to the area and will always have my car serviced there going forward. I highly recommend Carlsbad Village Independent Mercedes.

INTEGRITY I wish there were more stars to give, because these guys are great. I was recently gifted an older Volvo wagon that has plenty of things that need work. I found this shop via internet search, and brought it in the first time to figure out how to get it to pass smog so I could register it. The gentlemen that work there and the owner were BEYOND helpful . As a woman who doesn't know a lot about cars, I've been misled and taken advantage by mechanics. When you don't have a guy in your corner to help you understand what's going on mechanically it happens , unfortunately. The owner of the shop IS the guy in your corner. He is HONEST, FAIR, And explains everything so that I can understand it. He is not interested in taking advantage of people. These guys are interested in getting your car running well at the fairest prices. Needless to say the first time I took it in, my issues were all resolved much cheaper than a phone quote I'd been given by another shop. Since then I've been back for other small things.. and every single time I've left there feeling great about the work they did. Recently had a fuel injector problem, It was beginning to look like it was going to be an expensive job. But the owner, diagnosed it, found a way to get me on the road safely at a price I could afford. And sent me with a small list of things I need to save for. They are the good guys. Exceptional service, exceptional work, exceptional people. Hands down ,bar none, best shop I've ever been to.

I love John and his crew! Experienced and honest. I've been taking all of my vehicles to him for years...from my classic '66 Mustang, vintage Mercedes and Jeep, and modern Ram truck and Subaru. These guys are "old school" mechanics who really know cars.

My wife and I took our Mercedes 2000 C230 in because the check engine light was on and was not running well. Miguel was our service person, can't say enough about the service, very detailed, very friendly. the car is running great, on the way home I noticed the electric seat was working, it had not worked for a long time, we had not talked about the seat. The total cost was less than the original estimate. If your looking for a mechanic you can trust this is the place.

I'll drive as far as I need to go to go somewhere else. But they call advisers here is just whoever answers the phone and they can't really describe what service you need or what you will get. Extremely expensive for basic service. This is more of a sales thing where they sell you what they can sell you and I have absolutely zero confidence when I talk to them. They need to put somebody in charge who can talk to people intelligently. Do you want to take advantage of some people do it but some people need to have an intelligent conversation to make an appointment.

John and Miguel are true professionals who look out for their customers. Went in for an oil change and they discovered an issue which Mercedes should have caught during my 40k mile service. Even though my warranty had just expired, they put me in touch with a Service Manager at a local MB dealership who helped get the issue resolved and at no cost to me.
