This place is great! Been bringing my Jaguar F-Pace here for a few years now instead of the dealership. They are friendly, fast, honest, and conveniently located right in downtown Carlsbad. I saw some bad reviews, but never had a bad experience.

Wow - this guy is a class act (please note the sarcasm). Drove in on a Thursday afternoon and the gentleman with the tattoo on his right forearm (didn't provide a name) greeted me and my wife. I asked a couple questions regarding my car and this guy was just completely rude and abrasive. I didn't stay long - once I realized that he was not in a mood to deal with a potential customer, I decided to leave. At this point, he became extremely abusive to me (and my wife). I am all for supporting local business, but this guy left me with no choice. Here's a tip tough guy: when someone pulls into your driveway, it might make sound business sense to be polite, and not push people away. And don't talk like that to a woman - ever.

Highly recommend. Have taken all my Land Rovers here, despite purchasing them from the dealer close by. This is a family business, and Tyrone has always been honest and straightforward with me, unlike the dealer close by. He's willing to explain everything and point out when you can do the cheaper alternative or the more expensive one. He and his wife used to work at a dealer so they are extremely knowledgeable. I typically drive in, tell him the problem and then we chit chat for a few minutes. Great place. Highly recommend. Worth driving even an hour just to get here.

Carlsbad British delivered on everything they promised and saved us about $800 off the dealer price for a 2014 Range Rover sport emissions fix. The biggest draw back from owning a Range Rover has always been dealer pricing is disconnected from reality. Most dealers are currently changing $275 a mechanic hour. Insane. Carlsbad British are much more reasonable. They even came in $200 less on the repair estimate. Never had a dealer come in less. Dang great service!

It pains me to have to write this review. I have been a customer of Carlsbad British for many years, and have given them in the mid- to high five figures of business over that time. The owner, Tyrone Flower, is likeable, and his work is mechanically good - meaning that it almost always resolves the problem. His prices are fair, and I appreciate the fact that (unlike a dealership) he is willing to REPAIR parts (or source good-quality used parts) rather than always default to replace with new OEM parts, which saves cost. But working with Tyrone is a nightmare because he does not know how to communicate, how to follow through on commitments, and how to respect his customers. From Day One, Tyrone has always been hard to get ahold of. You will drop your car off, and then YOU, the customer, will need to pester him in order to get an update. This problem lessens when he has a technician in the shop and a receptionist, but for some reason, the business is unable to keep employees consistently and then the problem worsens. Tyrone is ALWAYS "overwhelmed." Now, any small business goes through periods where people leave, the workload unexpectedly shoots up, etc., but for a business and its owner to be chronically overwhelmed/stressed for YEARS is not normal. If you have that much business, then you can clearly hire more people! Getting ahold of Tyrone is difficult and often impossible because he will frequently allow his voicemail to become so full that a message cannot even be left. I believe it is disrespectful for any business owner to allow that to happen. He will not communicate about his availability. You may drop your car off only to find that the next day he is going on a trip, so that your car stays unlooked-at and un-serviced until he returns. (I learned this the hard way so many times that I started taking it on myself to call Tyrone in advance of dropping my car off to make sure he was ACTUALLY going to be around to work on it. Customers should not have to do this.) If you are able to reach Tyrone, he will often tell you that he will call you back, only to fail to do so. Days will slip by with no word about your car, the progress of the work, or the estimated completion date. I have sometimes had to call Tyrone SIX times over the course of 3-4 days in order to finally connect with him or have him call me back. If you try to call at the end of the day (around 5 pm) thinking that will be a good time, you will often get voicemail (or the "full voicemail"), or reach him only to be told that he is off to some evening meeting and will call you in the morning (which then doesn't happen). The owner doesn't seem to understand that in many professions (including repair), it is part of the deal that at the end of the day, after the shop closes, you spend 60-90 minutes returning people's calls, giving them updates about their cars, etc. -- not just skedaddle out the door the minute the shop closes. Recently, Tyrone has taken to traveling for a week at a time at what seems to be every 3-4 weeks. Since he has no technician and no receptionist, this effectively means all work and communication grind to a halt when he is gone. After the last fiasco of trying to reach him for service, it dawned on me that this is not truly an "going business." It is a HOBBY for the owner. You CANNOT rely on Carlsbad British Motorcars as you would a normal repair shop. I cannot recommend this business to anyone at this time, and I have been forced to take my business to a shop in LA.

PLEASE BEWARE.....Absolutely unethical business practices! Yesterday morning at 7:30 am, I dropped off my vehicle for a coolant level low light, service required light, transmission fault light that comes on & off occasionally.... Tyrone Flower seemed nice about making time to squeeze me in on my Monday off. I arrive to turn in my vehicle & he asked me to sign off on the list of items described...where it says estimate cost, he left it blank & sent me on my way (and never gave me a copy of what I signed).... I was told he would call me in a few hours with an update on what he finds...at 3:45pm I decided to call - was told they were getting costs put together & he would call back in 30 mins ....an hour passes & no call so I call back at 4:45 & was told he would need to call with numbers at 8:30 am today...he then calls at 9:30 am to say its $3k in repairs! I ask for a breakdown & was given verbal costs for items I didn't even ask for on my list. When I said his quote was out of my budget & I was opting for a 2nd opinion - he then tells me he needs to charge me $275 for his time! I asked why so much & why was I not told at the time I turned in my vehicle what his diagnostic charges are. He says that it was explained on the form I signed (which was a complete lie!!!) It was not on the form at all! Even when I went back, he never gave me a copy of what I signed & gave another quote form from the tech. I did take a screenshot with my phone. Feeling very frustrated & ripped off, I paid this dishonest man $270.00 & went to another recommended repair shop in Vista & paid another $65 for another diagnostic & only $670 to repair my car! Please beware of this shady operation! His integrity & honesty are lacking!

Being in the car business for 20+ years, never have a met such a talented Technician other than David Nutley that now works at this establishment. A great mentor, previous co worker and friend. Not many other technicians I would let work on my or family's members vehicle when I'm not available other then this gentleman. Ask for him by name, you will not be disappointed with the workmanship on your vehicle.

This is my first experience with Tyrone and CBM. I do most of my the basic maintenance myself (fluids, brakes, etc). But I'm aware as LR owner maintenance that there are things I won't do and mechanics are expensive. I knew something was up with my electrical system. My LR3 required jumping from my secondary battery (installed to run overlanding electrical accessories) to start. After a whining noise emanated from the engine bay I knew it was time. Asked CBM to do three: 1) check the electrical systems for issues (especially a parasitic draw) 2) run a code check 3) give the wagon a thorough once over. They found several things needing immediate addressing and determined my battery was bad but the alternator was fine. I change out bolts with every service as it originated from the salty, maritime PNW. They spent several hours drilling out bolts that broke due to rust. That service in and of itself was worth taking it in. I don't have a garage, the time, or the patience to do that. When things occur I cannot do CBM will get a call.

I wish I could give them a zero or negative. You are much better off going to a dealership. I took my car for service here and got ripped off. When Tyrone called me to give me estimates on work that needed to be done, I felt he would start with one estimate, test my reaction and add more to the service needed. On one occasion, they didn't do the service correctly, and had have my my car towed back. Tyrone did not even reimburse me for the towing. He was arrogant. Please find another British Motor's service or go to a dealership. You would be much better off.

I'm a veteran Range Rover owner and tired of the same old expensive services at the dealers. Couple hundred to diagnose a dead battery, never finding my issues and getting stuck in frustrating virtuous circles. Then there is Tyrone, the light at the end of the tunnel. He diagnosed some serious issues with my front brakes and bushings that three local dealerships didn't find. He's got a great team of talented mechanics. Impeccably clean and organized shop. He's kept me in the Range Rover ownership category. The key to owning one of these cars is having a trusted mechanic for the occasional service.
