I would love to give Kathleen Turner a 10 star rating, but iI can only do 5. Kathleen is a true professional, and she is very thorough. Her appraisals are spot on. She will answer any questions that you may have, and she also will do a gem verification. Having a Gem verified is different from a appraisal. If you have inherited a piece jewelry from a loved one but have no idea what it is, she can give you the identification of the stone. She's so kind, knowledgeable and she knows her craft. I was very impressed and pleased with Kathleen's appraisal on a recent engagement ring purchase. After extensive research, I chose Kathleen because of her reviews on Yelp. She was amazing! She was professional, thorough and provided a very detailed report. I just wanted a unbiased opinion to make sure the diamond was in fact real, and worth what we paid for it. I now have peace of mind.

Kathleen was a pleasure to work with. I brought in a couple of inherited gemstone rings and a pair of gemstone ear gauges that had non-precious stones which I wanted authenticated (Morganite, Pietersite, and Moldavite). Kathleen was able to look at all three pieces while I waited and give me her findings on the spot. She determined that the Pietersite ring and Moldavite gauge were authentic, and that the Morganite ring was actually Spessartine (Orange Garnet). Spacious office is on the second floor, so take the stairs or elevator up. Parking was easy on a Monday afternoon. If you have stones (whether or not they are precious) that you would like to have authenticated, Cal Coast Jewelry Appraisers is the place to take them. Will definitely be returning here for any future authentication or appraisals.

I recently was going over our jewelry insurance rider, and discovered that for 20 years, my wife and I have been wearing jewelry that wasn't on the rider (oops). AND that the items have never even been appraised (double oops). I cast about for recommendations, and Cal Coast Jewelry Appraisers consistently came up a winner - so called, made an appointment for jewelry to be appraised while I waited, and off I went. First thing of note - this is located in a building with the worlds smallest parking lot...if you go, do NOT go on a sunny weekend day, or any time near noonish....otherwise you'll be parking quite a distance away. Luckily, I knew this and scored a spot easily. The Appraisers are upstairs in their building - I got to the door, rang the bell, and was let right in. Very pleasant staff, and very professional. I handed over the jewelry, and she got right to work on weighing, measuring, looking at the 5 C's of diamonds, and making notes in her app during the entire process. Nothing left my sight during the entire appraisal, and it took less than twenty minutes - at the end of which, I received a very thorough analysis backing up the appraisal. She even emailed one to me so that I could upload the PDF to my insurance. Definitely the place to go to get valuables appraised. Highly recommended (just remember the parking issue).

I found this place on the American Society of Appraisers list as one of the closest places near me, and chose them to have my engagement ring appraised for insurance purposes. My fiancé took the ring there and said he was in and out in 20 minutes, and the ring never left his sight. We received a thorough appraisal report 24 hours later and were able to get our ring insured quickly.
