Well I just dropped off some things here and I have never set foot in a thrift shop where I was treated so nicely by EVERY SINGLE STAFF! They were welcoming, friendly, helpful and happy to receive a donation. Wow !! I'm still in the parking lot writing this because I was so moved . The staff really care about this place and the mission of the organization, they have this small place clear and very organized, clothes color coded and ceramics displayed beautifully and just overall you can tell they all care about this store and the customers.

I love the Assistance League of San Fernando Thrift shop because of how well cared for it is. There are always good quality clothes there, lots of choices for household ware. It is like going on a treasure hunt when walking through the store. If you love vintage jewelry this is your place to find so many interesting things. The plus of all this, is how pleasant all the sales staff is. They are always willing to answer questions, and be of help in anyway they can. The greatest thing about this thrift shop is 100% of money made at the shop goes directly to helping the San Fernando Valley Community. All workers are volunteers who devote their time to helping needy other people in the community. This is a win win place!

Very clean, organized thrift store. Everything's in its own place and you can see all of it. Bought a bunch of books for only about $8. That's a steal! Would recommend to anyone in the Canoga Park area!

Around 12/04/18 I went to this location to drop off items. A good friend had passed and I am disposing of his things. A couple of years ago, when attempting to donate household items, we were told they weren't accepting any donations other than clothing. So, this time, I went in and asked if I could bring in about a box of books. There appeared to be about 3 people working, all at the counter talking with a customer. The books were in a plastic tub, and because it was not very light, I took the tub to the back stockroom. There was a woman and when i said i had a donation, she smiled sweetly and said, Yes, but we are not accepting any books. I informed her I had asked her staff specifically about books and they said to bring them in. "Well I am the Manager and what I say goes." Her attitude was the rudest, most un-assisting 'manager' I've met, and I worked 30 years in retail. Unfortunately my reaction to her unprofessional behavior was to drop the tub onto the floor. I apologize for that, but I was not about to haul the tub back out thru the parking lot to my car. I 'donated' the tub (which i had not planned to) because dumping the books out of the tub would really have been too dramatic. First, if the store is deemed too small by its manager, she should be lobbying your main office to expand into the old Canoga Park pharmacy space next door. It has been vacant for over 5 years; you might negotiate a great deal on a lease. I think donations are what keeps the Assistance League in business. I think the manager could transfer them to another store if she really was out of room. Turning people away is the poorest example to present to the public. With three associates working or volunteering that day, i think a reworking of the sales floor might open up room for the books. The manager needs to be sent to a back to basics class, or given more time off. I have no plans to support this location with my donations nor my shopping needs.
