I wanted to purchase my first firearm , a pistol . I had brought all my documents as needed , My ID with the golden bear on the top right corner , Up to date DMV registration for second proof of adress and residency and of course my FSC. What's crazy is that For some reason he mentioned that my ID said " federal limits apply " (which does not) and insisted that I needed my birth certificate or passport . They didnt even want to let me hold a firearm . Not sure why , but I had all my documents as needed . Not only that , but my buddy too was also with me , we are new to this firearm industry and of course we ask questions. Instead of helping us and guiding us throughout our questions , they seemed rather annoyed and unprofessional . If this was due to our appearance on having a lot of tattoos , I sincerly think that their professionalism and work ethic should not intervene with my form of expression and my culture. I was respectful at all times and was trying to purchase a firearm with ALL exact documents required under the DOJ guidelines. I did not feel welcomed at all and I hear that they have been around for a while , so i'm hoping that others have had excellent customer service with them and that no person should ever feel unwelcomed and go through poor customer service . In the Same day I went to another shop and had no problems purchasing a firearm . All documents I brought with me were all I needed to be eligible for purchasing my first firearm.

Went there to do a PPT. Immediately upon arrival, the (owners?) wife soured on us when we declared our intentions. She couldn't identify the firearm despite the stamping, original bill of sale, manuals, etc. She proceeded to call her husband over who immediately chastised us for the inconvenience. New employees, wife has to run to the bank, assuming it was their kid in the playpen watching Cocomelon in the archery section.... We immediately left for Reeds Indoor Range who not only were able to help us, but succinctly and politely explain the costs the stores incur when doing a PPT vs new sale. Mind you that Sportsman Supply was empty when we arrived, not one customer in the store to bump us. Perhaps that's attributed to their attitude. Sportsman Supply WAS my go-to store over the years however I will never step foot in the store again. If you value customer service or even being treated as a human being, go somewhere else.

Great family run small business! I know how hard it is to run a small business and these guys crush it! Super nice caring and know their stuff! It can get a bit busy but I'd rather be patient and support a small business. Awesome team. Will come back soon.

Would never deal with them again. Super unprofessional! Horrible customer service and super negative attitude from most of the staff. Very selective as to who they help first. Communication sucked!! When answering the phone don't expect anyone sounding like they are happy to be there much less wanting to help. The owner was super friendly and helpful but he needs to step back from an outsiders prospective and take a good look at his team customer service. Basically if you're not purchasing get to the back of the line hurry up and wait. Yelp requires before posting to choose a star. I have to choose but if they had a negative Star I would have picked it.

If you go anywhere else but this shop for a gun service of any kind you are out of your mind!!! These guys know what they are doing!!!! Especially for someone who is new to the firearm realm, you do not want to be greeted with hostility or intense criticism like other shops in the area. They are superbly complimentary, and so kind hearted here it is incredibly above par. Armando the manager was a joy to go through the paperwork with, obviously they do not have a large staff, so they bounce around to help customers which is understandable! Also I was hurt for cash in the moment: and he took it upon himself to help me out with heavily or half price discounted ammo, locks and mags. So can we say EXCEPTIONAL?!?!?!!!!! Also no wait list, you come in and you feel welcome which is the kind of community you should expect in this area. Everything was fast too also Michael and Phil are super nice and everyone here is funny, and great to talk to, and know how to take/make a joke and it purely be for fun. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THESE OTHER STORES IN SJ!!!! If you want people who care about your business as much as your safety and well being you go here when you need it. #happyglockowner

This store has the most professional, knowledgable and patient people and service. Like another reviewer said, we were treated as if we were family. No doubt about it, this business, which has been here for decades, is the place to go!

I've never experienced service to this level. A+++++. After me and my cousin went to Bass Pro in South San Jose to do a transfer . We were treated as if we are criminals and shift characters. After waiting for close to an hour we were told to do a transfer it would be 2hours. We went to Sportsmen Supply and Ms. Natalie had us in and out in 30 minutes. Natalie is on point, very professional, knowledgeable, and best service ever received. We were treated not as shady, shifty characters like Bass Pro, Ms Natalie treated us as if we were family. I've been in the store 3 times in the past two weeks. Once to purchase, once to pick-up, and once for follow-up questions. All three times were a pleasant experience. Chris, the manager, was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. And he was very patient with my inexperience. I have nothing bad to say about them ... only good.

Terrible customer service!!Came into town for a day for business and decided to transfer a pistol to a local friend I'd mine. Soon as we walked in (first customers), we were greeted by an emotionally challenged employee who quickly discovered what we were there to do. He immediately told us that transfers were "back of the line" transactions, put paperwork on the counter, gave us a pen and walked away. What the heck did any of that mean? I quickly found out. Every other customer that entered received prompt and professional service because the employee would just walk away from us at the counter. Long story short...it took us over 1 hour to do a simple transfer. I grew up in Campbell and this place has been around since I could remember. I quickly remembered why I never did business with them back then. Employees are still rude and lacking any sort of positive customer service qualifications. Glad I'm back in the true northern California where you walk in any gun shop and are greeted by a smiling face and prompt service.

Went for simple night crawlers. I always try to support small business being from a small town. I politely asked " the worms alive right?" And they made it seem as if the worms were fresh as could be. Out of 24 maybe 2 were alive. It's only 9.50 in worms but this why I'll continue to drive all way over to bass pro where I can at least pick them myself. Terrible company, terrible customer service. Give it 2 years before they close s**** It's a sinking ship

AVOID THEM AT ALL COST! I've been a customer for many years. Bought handguns and hunting rifles from them in the past along with ammo and other amenities - NEVER AGAIN! Today, I was in the area so my son asked me to pick up a box of ammo for him so we could go to the range together this weekend - BIG MISTAKE! The smug little man behind the counter said that he couldn't sell it to me because "I was buying it for my son" (who is 31 years old BTW). I said okay, I'm buying it for me and then he said "too late". Just like that - too late - like this was some kind of game for his amusement? WOW! I really shouldn't be surprised because this store...no - it's employees have always been smug, rude, condescending...etc, but NEVER AGAIN - NOT ANOTHER DOLLAR!It caught me off guard because I just came back from Lodi where I stopped in at Integrity Arms a met the nicest guy (Harry). Older gentleman - retired police detective - he was inviting, polite, respectful - showed my son and I around the place - didn't want us to leave. Huge contrast between friendly atmosphere (like most gun shops) and SPORTSMEN'S SCORN!

I just purchased a Franchi 20ga (my first firearms purchase) The service was Okay .. They were just mediocre. On my 1st visit.. the manager was helpful but was clearly not interested. I decided to support a local business instead of a big chain.. that was in this case a mistake. The big chain stores are very friendly and helpful compared to this shop. I bought a stack of 100 shells because "Thats all we've got" mm Okay .. nice doing business with you for the 1st and last time.. PS ....I was loaded up.. Did they even open the door for me on the way out when my hands were full.. uh..no
