Notice the dates on all of Moss Adams reviews they are mostly 10 years old or more. To me, a 12 year old 5 star review should be ignored and not included in their Yelp Score. If you are a Moss Adams client (MA) you will be subjected to THREE different portals all with extremely intense login credentials. These portals are difficult to access and use, and credentials must be changed yearly in some cases. 1. Moss Adams uses Tax Buddy to organize your tax documents: Previously we had a 1 hour meeting with our accountant, with our documents. Now, I have to download and upload scores of documents, then I have to tag and name all documents and just hope against hope I got it all right.....this takes the client many hours....but hey MA now has the client doing their job.... I have concerns that all of these documents such as 1099's I have uploaded with sensitive information may end up going to foreign countries to have low paid, high skill accountants in India or the Philippines prepare our taxes. If these documents get into the wrong hands, this is a disaster for the client. If we compare and contrast that to the old fashioned method, our accountant just took the number he needed off the 1099, and so no sensitive data was being stored and archived, only to be hacked. I consider Tax Buddy to be a potential hacking Armageddon just waiting to happen. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! 2. Tax buddy is not used to create your return....NO! Now we get to go to yet another portal, create new credentials, and then download hundreds of pages of documents. Do you like to review a paper copy? Well, hope you have a printer that can handle printing hundreds of pages......Moss Adams no longer gives us a paper copy. 3. Want to pay your bill? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!! The client is subjected to ANOTHER PORTAL that gathers ALL your personal data, makes you change your password, makes you answer two challenge questions (thus putting that info somewhere only to be hacked in the future.....). 4. In January, we called our accountant and spoke to them for 6 minutes. We were billed $450.00 for that phone interaction. This makes the billing rate for our accountant about $4500.00 per hour. Who knew??? The original call was made at 4:14 in the afternoon, and by the time it was resolved it was around 6:00pm. Honestly, I feel as if this partner is doing everything they can to make us leave. We have been dutiful clients of MA for over 20 years. Why did I give them two stars? The quality of the final work product is accurate and professional, and they (MA) file electronically for you. Their people are hard working and professional, and know their stuff. The real weakness of this company is in their customer service of a more mature customer base. I can see that young adults would not find this process as onerous as I do. If you have many tax documents though, no matter what age you are you will feel as if you are doing MA's work for it. There is so much work involved, a more savvy client would just use a tax preparation software program.
