Wonderful place for kids and adults! I learned so many things I never knew! I would definitely come back! It's worth it to get the private tour. I wish they played music in there because it's dead quiet. Ocean music with chirping birds would be fitting!

Omg, Disneyland for birders and those interested in animals, nests, eggs, taxidermy, evolution, and life at large! Our guide, Paul Grindrod (Science Education Coordinator), is clearly an ornithologist as he answered every question we had with ease, and taught us so much along the way with a number of engaging facts and stories. We felt so lucky to have connected with him.Mimi Damwyk, the Collections Assistant, also was wonderfully well informed, easily pointing out the drawers, amongst thousands, that help shells from a elephant bird egg.Organizations are only as strong as their people, and theirs are strong! We Loved our time there exploring such a wide array of species and entering this space is mind blowing in its size and depth

Didn't actually go in because my friend and I didn't know that you had to make an appointment. Would have been nice if they listed hours of operation or made a notice saying that they need appointments

Visiting here should be on everyone's bucket list. You cannot leave here without learning something wonderful about birds. A big thank you to the members, staff, volunteers, and directors that keep this operation going!

I did not know what to expect when I came here. It didn't give a welcoming impression. The front garden was overgrown and unpleasant. Inside there's a paper explaining it's like that to attract fauna. Understandable. The actual entrance, though, needs to be clear so it'll be more inviting and guests do not have to duck and dodge the plant life growing above and around it. Be prepared for an enjoyable time once you're inside. I love pursuits of the mind and this place did not disappoint. Our tour guide was Shannon. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. There was a breadth of exhibits of birds to see and it was difficult deciding where to look first. My favorite was seeing an actual egg from an Elephant Bird. It was huge! I highly recommend checking this place out.

Amazing collection of eggs, nests and mounted birds, a portion of which are on display in a large and airy room. The collection includes more than 22,500 sets of eggs with data, 18,000 nests, and 56,000 bird study skins. The nest collection is the largest collection of its kind in the world, and the egg collection also is one of the largest collections in the world.

Okay so, this is an incredible place for those who are interested in Bird Species. The staff is top-notch, knowledgeable and ready to serve. Able to answer all your questions. What a wonderful place for research, known world-wide, and right here in Camarillo. I HIGHLY recommend that you get on the list for a special tour, you will be blown away by the amount of work that has gone into this project. So impressive, I hardly know what to say.
