~1 decent local article a week. Like most papers owned by media conglomerates, they only publish favored points of view on broader topics

Called in to the customer service line at the star because my free trial ended and I was charged $11 for a digital subscription. This is something I don't use and don't want so I called into the customer service spoke to a girl named Ariel. Ariel said that she can cancel my subscription but they cannot give me a refund because it is in their terms and conditions that they will not offer refunds. she would not let me talk when I did speak she talked over me the entire time. I became frustrated and ask to speak to a manager. She said..."No"... you cannot speak to a manager. She said, "as a company I'm telling you we will not refund you". It was honestly BIZARRE. Worst customer service EVER!!

Do not try a trial without closely tracking the billing. My subscription stopped but they keep billing. My fault for not checking my charges until I received by credit card bill.So I have to pay for what I couldn’t access. They have soneone who says the same thing over and over

This paper posted news 2 to 3 days after it happens it's like the paper is published in another country far away and carried on horseback a few days before distribution here.

I've been a subscriber to VCStar off and on for many years. Today, I discovered that VCStar charged me twice for the annual price of my digital subscription: $59; first on July 25, 2022, and again on January 8, 2023. I contacted their customer service representative today, who advised that I had opened two accounts with VCStar. Of course that makes no sense, and I certainly did not open two accounts. Nevertheless, the representative told me that although the two accounts is VCStar's mistake, they will not issue me a credit and advised that I should dispute the charge with my bank. I did so, and canceled my account(s) with VCStar. Shame on VCStar for defrauding their subscribers and failing to correct the problem when it is brought to their attention.

Watch out if you cancel. I canceled my account earlier this month, but they charged me anyway. They refuse to refund the charges.

Very unresponsive. Not professional. Do not care about current stories tgat would not make headlines. Not a real news agency in my opinion.

We have been a faithful subscriber to the local Camarillo newspapers for over 30* years. The papers are now delivered very late, if you get one at all. I have paid to have the paper delivered to our home for a full year, that is 365 days per year that I paid for last year when I renewed it. In March they went to 6 days per week, no longer Saturday delivery. My husband and I do not read the paper via a computer or tablet, but that is what they expect you to do. I paid for a full 365 days of delivery service to my home and expect to receive 365 papers delivered to my home. They need to now extend my contract I paid for 33 Saturdays that I will not get. Also, many more days of no paper at all during the week. When I did talk to the Manager in charge of the delivery carriers, he wasn't very helpful, he never game me the answers to my questions. He told me they were shorthanded and needed more help....not my problem. If Gannett doesn't want to pay to deliver the paper any longer, they need to get out of the business. When I pay for something, I expect to get it and the service as well when I call. Use to be years ago, when you missed a paper and called, they'd bring it to the door that same day and apologize.....that never happens any more. So, after being a faithful subscriber to the local paper for 30+, I probably will not be renewing the VC Star. I am sure this paper will fade away in the not to distant future.

The Ventura county star= If it's not our opinion then it's not relevant If Michael Moore wrote a newspaper, this would be it.

I have been a faithful subscriber of our local newspaper for over 30 years. I pay my annual fee for 365 days of delivery. So, now we get no Saturday paper, will I get credit, I doubt it. Last Tuesday & Thursday no paper, then no paper on Sunday either. Of course no Saturday delivery.... today, Thursday again no paper. Yes, I read in the paper you are short on delivery people, not my problem, I paid for the paper to be delivered. They also want us to read it over the computer, I don't like to do that. Can't stop and start if something comes up. And, once again, I paid to have it delivered. I called on Sunday and spoke to a live person an ask the time I should have my paper in my driveway, he said, between 6 - 7 AM. It is now 8:23 AM and no paper. I have called everyday I didn't get a paper and getthe recorded message. They say I will get credit - LOL. So, I would give "0" Stars if I could.....don't waste your money with USA Today and the Ventura County Star.

My mother agreed to getting the Sunday paper, only, for their advertised amount of $8.65 per month....for 3 months. She received a bill for over $60!! I tried calling VC STAR twice to deal with this! I kept explaining that the special was for $8.65/mo. She's only received 4 newspapers! I insisted on only charging my mom the $8.65 for one month and CANCEL her subscription...immediately!! The bill had several other confusing charges!! So deceitful! She's been a VC STAR customer for decades! Well, no more!! EVER!!! WARNING ALWAYS check your bill!

We have subscribed to the VC Star newspaper for many years. Lately tho we have been not receiving our newspaper intermittently. It's only 02/19 and already we have not received 4 newspapers this month. I cannot get any support from calling in to report this issue. Any suggestions?

This paper used to be good with pertinent local stories and information. However, once it was purchased by the conglomerate that owns USA Today it became totally useless. God forbid if you disagree with anything they say. Independent journalism without a political slant is incredibly rare these days, and you won't find it here either. Canceled my subscription for the last time. I'm switching over to the Acorn!

Delivery is always the problem. The paper keeps going up in price but quality of delivery keeps getting worse.

Great little paper, when it's delivered but here in lies the problem...the delivery service to our area of Moorpark is horrible. At least twice a week we don't receive our paper. I can never speak to a live person, it's a recording. Why they don't hire someone else that is reliable to deliver is a mystery!
