Pet Care
Calistoga Pet Clinic
2960 Foothill Blvd, CalistogaI moved to Calistoga in January of this year and needed a veterinarian for my two dogs. One is a small fifteen year old rescue Chihuahua who is almost fifteen with congestive heart failure, arthritis, seizures, and teeth issues. The care she was receiving previously in another state was less than adequate. I thought I was going to lose her several times and I was praying we would find a better vet who could help stabilize her. Calistoga Pet Clinic was the answer to my prayers. Typically my experience with veterinarians is that you either get a good vet, or good office and support staff like techs, receptionists, etc. In all the years I’ve had my dog, I’ve never found a practice with both until now. Dr. Franquelin immediately diagnosed both my dogs with new conditions other vets had never found, with a plan to address them. My dog’s condition has improved tremendously since my dog has been in his care, to the point that I’m shocked this is the same dog from a year ago. She acts like she’s three again. Dr. Franquelin is a fantastic vet, and he is never condescending when he explains conditions and treatments to those of us without a medical background, which I appreciate. Every single one of the staff I’ve interacted with has been amazing. Special shout out to Kayla who has gone above and beyond to help with all my pet’s Trupanion insurance, which is especially important to me because care for an elderly, sick dog is incredibly expensive. They are truly just the most amazing practice across the board and you will not be disappointed with their care. I am eternally grateful to have found them.

Bennett Lane Winery
3340 CA-128, CalistogaOn a recent road trip from San Raphael, CA to Victoria, B.C., my daughters and I drove through Napa hoping to have a wine tasting. It was late in the afternoon and many wineries were closing for the day or seemed eerily abandoned. We had given up finding an open winery when my daughter noticed an open sign at the entrance of Bennett Lane.
A friendly fellow named Travis greeted us and regaled us with interesting tales of his travels and winery lore as he poured four delicious wines. I’m partial to reds and I found the Maximus to be complex and had fruity notes that I prefer. I bought a bottle and can’t wait to open it.
Later, we had fun trying to identify various scents using a wine scent roulette style wheel. It was quite challenging!
Travis was a wonderful ambassador for the winery and for the community. He made a great recommendation for a local restaurant for dinner that turned out to be one of the best meals we had on our road trip. Thanks again, Travis!

Venge Vineyards
4708 Silverado Trail N, CalistogaFantastic wine experience! Our host Tony was knowledgeable and did a great job providing us with background and walking us through each varietal. The number of varietals available for tasting made this experience a great value and the quality of each wine were phenomenal! Our favorites included the Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, and several of the Cabernet Sauvignon. We enjoyed sitting in the shade on the deck overlooking the winery. It couldn't have been a better experience. Thank you again to Tony and the entire crew at Venge for such a wonderful experience!

Robert's Tropical Table Bar and Lounge
1457 Lincoln Ave, CalistogaNapa Valley’s new hidden gem is Robert’s Tropical Table located in a converted breezeway/parking lot adjacent to the Mount View Hotel right here in Calistoga. Robert has been known for a decade as one of the handful of magical mixologists in our Valley having a long bar run at Sol Bar (until they closed for remodel and Covid) and then Brasswood before launching his rendition of a Jamaican Beach Cafe. His Ocho Rios roots come alive with a delicious selection of jerk chicken, pork belly, and wings with an escovitch fish perhaps better than mine. And never to be missed are the festival dumplings and a perfect Dark and Stormy. Open DAILY when the music is playing and gates are ajar (3pm to 10pm).

Picayune Cellars & Mercantile
1440 Lincoln Ave, CalistogaHighly recommend purchasing from this shop. I went on a trip to California and stopped by this little shop. Carly was great and helped me pick out a purse that day. She even brought out additional options from the back room when I mentioned the style I was going for. When I got home I realized there was some faulty stitching on one of the straps. I figured I would just be out of luck. But decided to message the manufacturer to see if I could purchase a replacement. The manufacturer put me back into contact with Carly. She actually reached out to me and remedied the situation so quickly. She then kept me updated on when the new strap was ordered from France (!!) and then she shipped it to me at no additional cost. I always try to shop with local businesses and was so glad I did this time. I highly recommend purchasing from here. If it were any other large brand store I would not have had the same level of service. Thanks again Carly for being so patient and thorough.
