Used this sinior citizen care for my parent for a few months. Sadly I have to say very poor service, unprofessional staff. We move on from this.

I have been a resident at Horizons of Calabasas for almost 2 years. I moved in Full time in December of 2016, shortly after my husband passed away.Living at Horizons has been like Paradise on Earth. After 57 years of marriage and the preceding few years filled with Health issues, my life was suddenly very empty and lonely.Once I moved into Horizons, I did not have that much time to feel sorry for myself. This Independent Living arrangement has been wonderful. The neighbors and residents are all so wonderful, warm, welcoming. The Community Manager is amazing. She is creative, constantly adding new and different events to our Activity Calendar. There are wonderful classes, such as Yoga and Tai Chi and a physical trainer and a "Dancing For Life Class," as well as Music Events, a Book Club, as well as TED Talks. There is a Spanish Class weekly and HolidayCelebrations and many more Events. There is an exercise room with various machines and Water Aerobics classes during the summer months.I could go on and on. One of the most wonderful aspects is not having the responsibility of a Home, with all its maintenance and repair issues. You can just turn the key, lock the door and leave on vacation withoutworrying about who will look after your house.Horizons at Calabasas is an incredible one of a kind, wonderful living situation. I would not want to live anywhere else!Helen Adelberg

I have been a resident of Horizons for almost 2 years and I absolutely love it!! I feel safe, enriched and lucky to be in this beautiful place. It is my daughter who posted that scathing review and I am sorry that her anger makes her act out in such a way. Carol k

I have lived at Horizons for 1 1/2 years and find it to be comfortable, safe, well managed, with friendly neighbors. There are activities such as cooking classes, yoga and lectures on varied topics, a community garden, many get togethers, dinners, and planned trips to local museums , art and music activities. There is a culture of community and caring, nurtured by management. Safety and maintenance are top priorities. After living in my own home for 46 years I found the transition to this complex easy. I give top marks to the owners and management.

I am giving Horizons only one star. If possible, I would give zero. My mother lived in Horizon's for two years. On the positive side, it was very convenient as it was close to my home. The apartment was very spacious, and the building itself, is very nice. My mother passed away December 29, 2017. She was two months shy of being 100 years old! Due to her age, she didn't participate in any of the activities provided at Horizon's. We had caregivers living with her, and other than going to lunch or to a doctor, once or twice a week, she stayed quietly in her apartment. She didn't have any pets, and lived peacefully. I would visit her several times a week. So, why am I giving Horizon's only 1 star? In November, I was shocked to receive a letter informing me that the owners had decided to not renew her lease, and that she would be forced to vacate her apartment Feb. 27, 2018!!! I spoke with the manager and asked, "how can you expect a 100 year old woman to move? She doesn't have much longer, she needs to live here until the end". The manager's response, was that it was legal. I responded that it may be legal, but it is wrong! I want to add, that her extremely high rent, was always paid on time. We got letters from doctors stating that she was legally blind, had dementia, and a move at this point in her life would be detrimental. We hired an attorney to help us fight this injustice. As it turns out, my mother passed away, and didn't make it to the end of her lease, but the fact that the owners could do this, in my mind is unbelievably cruel, insensitive, and inhumane.
