Serious work being done here by Dirk and his team. Reasonably priced as well. I drive a gen 1 CLS 500 and Dirk made the car feel brand new! Its been a week and it seems as the car gets better by the day. I was referred here by Mercedes Services of Silicon Valley and happy they did, i love this shop!

Excellent! After a frustrating experience at my local BMW repair shop that wanted to replace my 5 year old transmission for 13k was recommended Peter Schmid. My problem was new to them but they figured it out and stuck to the original quote of about 4k. They are transmissions experts and communicated throughout. Overall super impressed and highly recommend! Thank you!

I have a 2000 E320 that was surging when going between gears. I was told it needed a new transmission as I had 220k miles. Edwin diagnosed the problem and repaired it for less that the quote ($780). I shifts very smoothly now Very professional and friendly. I would strongly recommend this shop. they exceeded my expectations.

The transmission in our BMW 528i was slipping and the repair light went on when we were in the freeway. We took it to the dealership and they told us it would cost $11,000 to replace the transmission. Fortunately, the fellow at BMW referred us to Peter Schmidt in Burlingame. Dirk and Dan tested the car, drove it around and replaced some parts. Good as new for $1700. We were thrilled and amazed. Thank you Dan and Dirk, great job.

After being referred by Penninsula European Auto Repair in San Mateo for transmission repairs on my Jaguar XF, I talked to Dirk and had him take a look. I had been told that I need a new transmission and the estimate was $7000 by a repair shop I had been to a couple of times in Sunnyvale. He explained everything really well and said he thought that what I might need new shift solenoids, estimate was $1500. He said if it was more he would credit the cost toward rebuilding the transmission. It turned out the relays were the problem, so he saved me at least $5000. I asked him if he found any metal in the transmission case. He said no, and that "we get that a lot." I would totally recommend him. He has a great demeanor.

Ok, I am a big enough person to admit when I am wrong. After further research, his quote was very much in line with other shops that I spoke with. I have decided to bring my car to let Dirk work on it because other mechanics spoke very highly of him. Lastly, after interacting with his extremely nice office staff, who were very welcoming in spite of my hasty, less than factual review, I feel very embarrassed and have learned a valuable lesson!Went there with a transmission malfunction notice on my older model BMW. I gave him some pretty tough constraints because money is really tight right now, but I was not really pleased with his solution. He obviously wanted me to replace my transmission, which may have been the right move, but out of my price range. When I told him that, he told me he could maybe fix the problem by replacing all of my transmission solenoids for $1,000. Sorry but I'm not spending $1,000 for that type of repair on a 2006 bmw with 200k miles on it. He then offered to replace 1 solenoid for around $600. However, I have since learned that replacing 1 solenoid would do nothing to fix the problem, so I would have been out $600 and back at square 1. I have also learned that the price quotes he gave me were way higher than what I found online, even when looking at original new parts. Seemed dishonest to me. I can't comment on how well he would have fixed the problem with no constraints because he didn't end up doing any work for me, so maybe he would have excelled at that, I just don't know. Imo, I found enough reasons to take my car somewhere else in the future.

Ten years later I had a second very positive experience with Dirk, now the sole owner. My transmission on a recently imported purchase disassociated itself from the engine on the Bay Bridge and had to be flatbedded home on a sunday and then down to Peter Schmidt on monday. Again, Dirk did not make a mountain out of a molehill, but put the car up on the lift and came back a few minutes later with a handfull of loose driveshaft bolts which had not been properly tightened by a Mercedes dealer in Florida where the car came from. Fortunately, I don't have a lot of transmission failures, but twice now Dirk has been an oaisis in a field full of crooks and charlatans. He now does more than transmission repairs and I will drive from SF to bring my car to him where I know it will be properly diagnosed and repaired. Thanks Dirk.

It’s super hard to find honest quality mechanics that know what they’re doing. It’s a 45 minute to hour drive for me, but when you pull up and see how many customers and repeat customers they have, it’s definitely for a reason. They’ve built a great business, it’s built on honesty and integrity, with reasonable prices. They’re winners all day in my book and have my business for good! From the front desk to the mechanics to the owners, this place is the real deal! Trust me when I say, they don’t need any positive/negative reviews. They handle their business!
