Healthy Horizons is a great place to get lactation help and they have such cute clothing as well .... have to remember to stop here for the next baby shower! I am writing this review because Sheila Janakos doesn't just help new parents in her store/lactation support center but she is also a generous soul who helps the community. I have been on the board of a nonprofit for 32 years now called Nursing Mothers Counsel which provides free lactation support via phone with volunteers trained in lactation and counseling support. We are a great back up source for parents who may not need the expert support that Sheila and her IBCLC staff provide, or who are in need of support after business hours.
We are so grateful to Healthy Horizons for donating 4 Medela Symphony Pumps to NMC for use as grant rentals for low income families we serve. This substantial donation will certainly help many low income families in the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County. Sheila has remained an affiliate member of our small non-profit and supported NMC with donations throughout her many years associated with our organization. Thank you so much Sheila and Healthy Horizons for your generosity and support!

The owner Sheila is very sweet and friendly to speak with! She was able to help answer any questions I had. The store also has a very cute collection of clothing.

Absolutely necessary to have more of these. I found them very helpful during my breastfeeding journey. They have plenty of hospital grade pumps for rent as well, and can walk you through how to use them. Groups are awesome, and a good resource. It would be great for them to have more maternity and postpartum clothes for mama, but the space is small. Check them out!

I cannot recommend the lactation consultation services here enough! I have sought the in home consultation with both my babies and have been so incredibly grateful for the support I received with different providers and different issues. The scheduling is super convenient and when you are in the throes of newborn life, having someone come to you who can help you in your home where you are doing most of your feeding is super helpful. Erin has been a godsend. I saw her when my second baby was having issues with latching and I was in so much pain. After that she was available to answer any emerging questions and when I got a clogged duct, she was super responsive and gave me fantastic advice and encouragement when I was freaking out. I used her guidance and within hours saw immense improvement and pain relief. If you're looking for breastfeeding support this is the place to go!

We booked an hour with Erin after our newborn had difficulty with latching and suction. By the time the session was over, he was able to breastfeed for 15 minutes straight. Two weeks later, he now has no trouble breastfeeding, and my wife's milk production is steadily increasing. Erin was instrumental in helping resolve our biggest stressor post-birth. After noticing our baby's impatience on the nipple, she suggested offering a minute or two of bottled milk to calm him down. That was the single most effective adjustment we found. She also encouraged using a nipple shield, especially in the early weeks, as it helped our baby figure out the mechanisms of latching onto his mother's breast. That worked wonders as well. We're gradually weaning off these adjustments as our baby boy and my wife become accustomed to breastfeeding. Erin continues to give suggestions and adjustments to my wife over text message. Such a blessing to have her help!

I don't like to think what my breastfeeding journey would have looked like had I not had the wonderful help and guidance I received from Erin, Maggie and Sheila. I will never forget laying in the hospital, recovering from my C-section, while my husband sat across from me reading aloud an email from Sheila who had replied to our request for help on a Sunday evening. I had been dealing with a lot of breastfeeding pain. Once I was out of the hospital and back at home, Erin made visits and helped me and my baby to thrive in our breastfeeding journey. Months later, Maggie became a great help and advisor when my baby went through a "nursing strike" stage - something I'd never even heard of before. We persisted, and my baby came back around. The next hurdle was the taxing frequency of nighttime feeds and wake-ups. Sheila was able to give me some helpful suggestions for this. At every stage, these ladies personalized my care and always made me feel heard, safe and comforted.

I ve been renting their pump right from the hospital. I had an issue with the pump and called them up. Lydia was extremely patient listening to this mom's woes. I visited their shop in Burlingame to figure out what was wrong with my pump. Lydia patiently tested each pump part with a gauge and found out it was the valve. She was super empathic with a calm demeanor. Looks like a great shop, I wish I had known about this shop earlier.

Apologize about calling them scammers and poor customer service since they did replied the next day (found it in junk folder) but did take the time (2 1/2 weeks) to send a package with no updates or tracking number with this Shop app , however the package was indeed delivered but the carrier made a mistake with my name and no code was sent to me, I don't usually leave bad reviews so I'm correcting myself, thanks.

I found out about Healthy Horizons per recommendation from our pediatrician. I was having terrible pain everytime I breastfed my son for 4 weeks and saw Maggie for lactation consultation and it completely changed my life. I thought breastfeeding was just painful but turns out I had a yeast infection in my milk ducts from my symptoms. I am so happy I found this place! I come here often for products, advice, and to weigh my son (they have a scale you can use). Thank you for all your help :)

The lactation consult that we did with Maggie was a complete game changer. At the hospital two lactation consultants were not able to help us and my little one was not latching at all. With only one consult, Maggie was able to tell us what we're doing wrong and gave us excellent advise. After that, baby latched without a problem

So sad to be writing this because I’m sure the store itself is great but this pertains to the experience I had and the lack of empathy and customer service. I called ahead of time to make sure they had the product I needed for a itch condition I’ve had since pregnancy and I was in luck it was in stock. I confirmed that they closed at 4 and after feeding my newborn and getting us ready for the drive we prepared ourselves for the 40+ min drive. When I got there about 8 min before closing to my surprise they had already left for the day! What a bummer and all that effort and the hour+ it took for travel round trip (not to mention gas) all for not. So I called the next day and explained what had happened and all I got was a mediocre apology. The sales associate said I could place my order online and I asked if shipping could be waived due to the unfortunate circumstances and again nothing. I had hoped for better customer service and help for new moms but I guess not. I hope no other new mamas out there have this experience!
