Shawn with Ballast Point helped us do a one-time consultation of our finances. Shawn was incredibly thorough, looking over all of our financials then providing advice on specific questions we had (if we should keep our home as a rental vs selling, advising us on stock options, etc) as well as letting us know where we could make some adjustments to our savings and brokerage accounts. We got advice on our kids' 529 accounts and upping our life insurance policies and Shawn gave us the name of a fantastic law firm who handled creating our living trust. The Google spreadsheet with the breakdown of our finances and things for us to consider in the short and long term was also great and something we will be using in the future to track our assets. Very grateful for Shawn and BPFP!

I've worked with the Ballast Point team for the past few years and they have done wonders for my financial (and mental) health. Because of their guidance, I was able to fully understand my compensation package and how to leverage it for my goals. Despite studying economics, I didn't really understand how to even get started with planning my finances, and they really have made it easy. It's great that they also have expanded their practice to serve clients in Texas where I am.

Shawn served as our financial planner over five years ago and he was so helpful that we *still* use the tools, templates, and best practices he gave us to keep our financial house in order, long after we graduated from our regular engagements with him. Shawn helped us get on the right path to save for purchasing a home, and thanks to his guidance we reached our goal! The modest investment we made to work with Shawn has truly paid dividends and we are so grateful for his expertise and support.

We have been working with Ballast Point for about a year now and we love working with them! Jennifer, in particular, has been an absolute standout, we feel so valued, seen, and heard by her. Jennifer and the rest of the team have provided us with some very helpful financial advice including saving/spending money, investing, and attitudes/feelings around finances to name a few. If you are looking for financial advice/planning, I would highly recommend them!

I usually attend seminars to learn about financial planning. I thought I was good at savings until I attended a seminar given by Shawn. Shawn is good at what he does. So decided to consult Shawn and his team to know more about personal finance. That's when we met Liz. We had an initial discovery meeting where we went through our balance sheet (something I learnt new :) ). With the consecutive meeting, we had aligned goals and discussed ways to achieve those. Few of the goals worth mentioning are a roadmap for short and long term investing, protecting assets, being debt-free and children's education. Liz had the breadth to discuss any finance topics and was always available to answer emails. Gabriella helped coordinate the entire flow and ensured the meetings were seamless. We were always treated as a family and were sent surprise gifts for special occasions. They are an absolute delight to work with. Strongly recommend.

Shawn & Liz helped us out with getting our finances in order during what was probably the most stressful couple years of our lives. After having 2 kids only a year apart, and needing to decide between a major home remodel, buying a home, or moving out of state, we were overwhelmed and paralyzed with financial indecision. We originally hired them just to help us decide whether to remodel or move. Naively, I actually thought we were pretty good with finances, before working with Shawn & Liz. We had a trust set up as soon as we had kids; we had our money in a high yield online savings account, and I work in the insurance industry so I thought our insurance was in order. Boy was I wrong! They helped us to maximize our money, showed us where we were over or under insured, and helped us reorganize our retirement accounts & education accounts for lower fees & taxes. They also provided some much needed reassurance along the way; it was great being able to email them questions anytime I got a new retirement investment option at work, getting reminders from them on how to do the Roth conversions, even asking questions about salary negotiations when I was searching for a job, etc. They also helped us fix up our tax withholdings for years with a lot of stock sales, to avoid penalties. I definitely recommend checking out the BFP team if you need some financial help (or even if you think you don't -- you probably do!)
