This review is directed at the ER doctor who saw me not the kind EMT’s or nurses who assisted me before and after my ER experience my thankfulness to you all knows no bounds. I truly hope whoever reads this takes this to heart and for the honest review that it is. I am a kind soul and do not relish having to give a poor review…that being said: If you are visiting the ER please stay away from Doctor Rashida N'gouamba for your own mental health and physical well-being. She will not only brush your concerns off- but she could potentially put your life in jeopardy by doing so. When she was called into the ER to see me, she brushed my concerns off, intimated that I have a drinking problem (I do not drink or use drugs of any kind) because I passed out multiple times in the middle of the night, with nausea, my liver was doing poorly, and I was sent by ambulance to the ER with a pulse of 40. Many scans were given which showed a giant mass on my ovary the size of a peach to which she said, “ I won’t call people in on their off time for you- I’ve known people with bigger masses walk out that door. What do you want me to do perform surgery just because you are uncomfortable ? What if someone else comes in who’s worse off- they could die because of you. I won’t inconvenience people. I’d send you home but the hospital wants to keep you. What if it’s cancer- you don’t want me taking it out. Any questions?” My partner was flabbergasted as was I and the doctor then began to address her as well by mocking the expression on her face. My partner asked one question and the doctor let out a deep aggravated sigh. I have never before seen such a thing. It was incomprehensible to me. As she walked out of the room she loudly said to the doctor who called her in because of the size of my mass, “I’m a limited resource” and walked away. By the time she left I was in tears- that was my third time ever seeing a gynecologist and it was one of my most traumatic experiences of my life. Luckily a different gynecologist saw me and listened. They found not only a mass during surgery but my womb had ruptured and I had a horrific case of endometriosis and Pcos as well as twenty more cysts on my right ovary. If I had been in only her hands I shudder to think what would have happened to me. When she first walked in, I was so excited to have an intelligent, female doctor, and after my experience I would say that just because an individual is intelligent doesn’t mean that they are wise. She talks to people as if they are the dirt on the bottom of her shoes. Dr. N'gouamba is not kind, patient or wise. And while being kind is not necessarily necessary to being a good doctor it is helpful to a patient who is scared. My cyst ruptured just one day later. I have a disease that will affect my body for life and yet, the only thing I can do is make sure that no one goes through the trauma that I experienced at the hands of Dr. Rashida N'gouamba.

I have never ever given a 1 star review, let alone anything less than a 5 star. But this experience was something I hope I never have to go through again. Let’s start with the Blonde/balayage front desk young lady in the emergency room needs to go. Not only was she disrespectful, had no care or urgency as my sister is carrying me into the doors because I was crying hysterically and in tremendous pain because of what i now know is kidney stones. As we were waiting in the waiting room an old woman who clearly can’t walk is using a wheel chair, and she has the audacity to ask her if she can walk because they need the wheel chair…. When the son stepped up to say no she gave the woman and the son attitude, calling the son out because the older woman said she only needed the chair a little bit and didn’t directly say no…. Is this woman okay??? How is this attitude allowed in an emergency room filled with patients that are injured or unwell… promise you the chemistry in this office would drastically change if they got rid of the blonde face that greets you when you walk in… or should I say death stares you. To add on, I waited 5 hours for them to bring me inside a room and tell me what was going on, after we had to complain and one of the guys at the front desk (at least he was extremely nice) said we were the longest standing patient in the waiting room and he will see what’s the hold up. Once I went in and they gave me pain medication through an IV after my pain had already subsided… they said i was dehydrated and had me on the IV for 8 mins and started taking it off of me, telling me I didn’t even have to finish it and I could be dismissed. Pretty sure it was a ploy to just act like they did something. didn’t give me much info at all or any info on what not to eat or drink, even though I asked they told me “it could be genetic but we don’t know until you pee at home and we get the stone tested, nothing you could do just wait until it passes” , had to do all the research on my own from friends who have had it and they told me EXACTLY what not to eat or drink during this process that can make the stone worse, since they clearly went to a better hospital. Overall rating 1/10 and that’s being generous.

I did not receive the care I went in to get. The PA-C kept running out to ask the doctor questions. She ended up giving me a treatment that was inappropriate for my situation. I had to ask her for Dr Specialist recondition. I feel the symptoms I was having were serious and should have been looked at by a GI Dr. Instead I was just sent on my way. St Joseph’s has been my hospital of choice for 20 yrs. This last experience leaves me wondering if I shouldn’t reconsider.

This review is for Dr. Roger Lai. I am chronically I'll and unfortunately have to go to the ER often. Dr. Lai treated me with kindness and respect as he asked important questions about my health. It was the best ER experience I've ever had.

I came here for an anaphylactic reaction. I did not come by ambulance, so as a first responder myself I understand the wait. However, I had used the epipen, was covered in hives, and was vomitting profusely in the waiting room bathroom. I could barely talk or hold my head up. This lasted 3 hours. Finally I was taken back to wait in a different waiting room for another hour. Then I was put in a room. Well at that point with how much I was vomitting, the allergen wasnt even in my body anymore so my symptoms turned to just dizziness and phlegm. Finally got a room, waited another 30 minutes, and was given two pills: a prednisol and a benadryl. My bill was over $1,000, and after fighting with insurance it was lowered to $270. Still, that experience should not have costed that much. I used to be in Providence’s medical focus program. I don’t know what’s happened, if its an admin issue or budget cuts or the constant contruction, but this hospital has dropped severely in quality. I highly advise against coming here for critical care.

Came to the ER from an urgent care where my elderly mom was diagnosed with a broken back and blood clot in her leg. The ER staff left her sitting in a wheelchair in the waiting room for 8 hours before she was seen. Didn’t come by periodically to evaluate her or even offer Tylenol for pain. Turns out my mom also had a blood clot in her lungs. What a miserable excuse for an ER. This is the worst ER I have ever been to.

I waited almost 5 hours here and the waiting room was almost empty the whole time. They call maybe one name per hour, no exaggeration. A nurse came out when my name was finally up and asked if I was really in a lot of pain kind of acting like he didn’t really need to take me next. Like I looked ok enough to him to skip over. I told him a concerning symptom I was having and he didn’t believe me. He legit said what? You don’t mean that, you mean this instead. I told him no I meant what I said. He gave me a weird look and stormed off suddenly like he’d never heard of something so weird. By the way this was a sensitive, embarrassing health issue he was loudly discussing in the lobby. The front desk lady is rude. I sensed the attitude and I got to witness her snapping at a woman for asking how long it might be. I need serious medical attention but I’m too uncomfortable to keep sitting here. It’s after 4am and again I feel terrible. They just try to wait you out hoping you will go home. This is our health care system folks.

One of the worst ERs in the area! If you are facing a life or death situation may god be with you because you will be waiting in the waiting room for hours before you even see a doctor. I have been waiting in the waiting room for over 5 hours to be seen and I have only been checked in. So ya I’m writing this from the ER waiting to been seen. PS the reason I’m here is because of a surgery that I had at this hospital and I have been bleeding from my stitches! Ya and they got me waiting and still haven’t contacted the surgeon like they said they would 5 hours ago! Don’t not come here if you have a choice.

Worst ever experience. Don't even waist your time .
Check in and time to be called took a 5 hours. More chances you'll be dead at that time. Looks like idiots only work at the Emergency room.

The absolute worst!
I've had better service at a county hospital!
I understand the wait times, not complaining about that.
But they had us waiting for HOURS in CT scan wait & after 2 hours IN PAIN I finally asked the status.
They couldn't get me info, one hour later, "OH you're in the wrong area, not sure why they put u here" Pain level was at 10 when arrived I was sent by Urgent care because it was something serious!
5 hours later, no pain meds and still haven't got a CT scan because I have to be in a room!!!... This could have been organized better.

I just had to leave and go to a different ER because they wouldn’t take me seriously, the male nurse and doctor in triage were being very obviously sexist and not believing what was going on with me because it is typically seen in males. My issue is very urgent and they had me put back in the waiting room for hours where I literally couldn’t wait so I had to leave. Last time I went to this ER I was in the waiting room for over TEN hours. It’s insane how under staffed they are and how many people are in the waiting room at any given minute. Make the drive to go to a different ER if you can because this one will take all day and not even help you x
