I love the look of these shoes, and I have several pairs. But they are terribly made... nearly all the pairs I've owned fell apart after a few wearings. I just had another pair fall apart on the second time I wore them.... the soles just peeled right off. Paying hundreds for an essentially disposable shoe is very disappointing.

Absolutely terrible customer service that yanks you around pretending they'll actually help you. I have several pairs of Cydwoq shoes in size 38, so when I went to have a custom pair of Parthenon clogs made, I naturally chose size 38. To my dismay, however, the footbed of the Parthenon clogs fits an entire size smaller than normal, and my toes literally hang over the edge of the shoe; I refuse to wear them like this. I asked if I could exchange them for a larger footbed or even just get some Cydwoq credit in return, but they've decided to ignore me after requesting photos of my feet in the footbed, which I provided, and then telling me that I wasn't wearing them correctly. I ONLY KNOW ONE WAY TO PUT MY FOOT IN A SHOE, AND I'VE SUCCESSFULLY DONE THAT WITH LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE OTHER PAIR OF SHOES I'VE EVER OWNED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. They're just poorly fitting shoes, period. From the too narrow toe platform, the strap across the toe being so tight that it makes my foot bulge out in an unattractive way, and the back strap being so loose that it allows the foot to slide too far forward. Really shitty experience with Cydwoq, honestly, and I'm no longer a fan or customer.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have... shall we call it... an "affinity" for shoes. (I almost typed in "infinity". Imelda Marcos really didn't have much on me...)
I love to make them. I love to wear them. I love to own them. There is a caveat: They must both be fashionable AND comfortable. There's no shoe worth wearing if it's uncomfortable.
One of my colleagues had been urging me to go check out this placed called Cydwoq Shoes that makes and sells shoes - in Burbank of all places. But that's when I was living in Hollywood. And Burbank - well, that was over the hill and too far away except for very well-planned and intentional excursions.
Fast forward several years and I find myself living in North Hollywood - right next door to Burbank. (Now, excursions to Hollywood are very well-planned and intentional...) I kept thinking about going to visit Cydwoq. But since my mind is run by squirrel sightings (I'm a bit busy, and my attention is constantly being pulled by other matters), I kept getting cydtracked...as it were...
Today, being my last official day by myself (kids are in school, spouse is at work, I return to school on Monday), I had some time this morning.
First, I had to remember the name of the place, because, honestly, though I like the name, it is a bit unusual, and doesn't make me think of shoes. Nor is it a name that my mind sticks too. Having said that, once I dug deeply into my brain and the almighty Google, I called them up, and they just happened to be open today from 9 am to noon.
I looked it up on Googlemaps (long gone are the days of the Thomas Brothers Guides). Lo and behold, it is only 3 1/2 miles away... I could walk... (I didn't.)
Nestled away in a bit of an industrial area just north of the Burbank Empire Center (which we frequented regularly while living in Hollywood to go to Lowe's and REI and other shops - guess I could have made more of an effort earlier...), I entered the showroom to see some of the most amazing shoes with tons of character that I've seen in awhile. And from the showroom, you can see them making shoes through the windows that reveal the factory in the back. Right here in Burbank, CA - making and selling shoes, both online and in person.
First thought... I'm in trouble... Second thought... Show me the shoes... Third thought... Where am I going to put these shoes? Fourth thought... Squirrel...
Of course, some shoes came home with me. Not only do they have great character, my feet are extra happy because they have an equally great fit.
If you haven't checked this place out, you owe it to yourself to do so. The shoes are amazing. Equally amazing, the folks that work at Cydwoq Shoes. I'll definitely be back!

If you define yourself as a person who values quality over quantity and ethically made shoes, these hand made treasures are worth taking notice. The smell of leather when walking in tantalizes the olfactory senses. I'm on my second pair in a decade. I went to browse the manufacturer outlet room. It's a field trip worth taking. Call ahead to see if they will open for you. It makes it kind of exclusive to shop privately the limited selection of handmade shoes. They feel amazing, and each style might put you in a different size, so browse a size up or down too. My most recent pair has traveled the world with me in comfort and unique style. I didn't buy a pair this trip as they were just a bit over my price point. You can easily save $100+ off of retail, but still drop $200+ here. Seeing the craftsmanship and how the shoes are made are worth the visit. if I had found a belt that worked for me I would have grabbed one for $35.

I have been a customer for years and have many pairs of their beautifully designed and executed shoes. I was surprised to see negative reviews. I always use them to repair my shoes figuring since they made them, they should fix them. I'm always happy with the results. I live near the factory so granted, I have not had to deal with shipping charges plus I can go in and try the samples in the back. The samples are in all sizes and I've been lucky to snag some at a considerable saving. Like a lot of small niche businesses they are having staffing problems and I'm guessing access to materials due to COVID and it's aftermath. A little understanding should be in order. The Cydwoq product isn't for everyone, but it is for people who value made-to-order-handmade and unusual shoes. This is a wonderful place for people who care about such things.

Ove the past 20 years, I have purchased CYDWOQ shoes/boots, and I have always returned to purchase again. NO MORE. The last pair did not fit as a 41 should and the sole was faulty. I called them and the customer service was ABYSSMAL. It is sad to see a good shop die but this one did, at last for me.

I am a huge fan of Cydwlq shoes. I have had one pair for 16 years. They are like a second skin. I have their boots, shoes and sandals, all from the vintage line. Reading other reviews I want to comment that you just have to change the rubber cover on the bottom when it wears out. There is an option when ordering to add a rubber bottom and you should do this option. I have taken mine to a cobbler and switched as needed for 16 years! It is a real product with a leather sole so it does require a tiny bit of care. They will custom do the width, which is so important for me as I have a aaa foot. The flat shoes are like barefoot walkers and helped strengthen my feet and helped me overcome knee soreness. Some of the shoes do require a break in period, but it is worth every step. Just be prepared to wear around the house and for short outings if needed. Some shoes have not required this. Also, getting your width size correct can take some finagling and sending shoes back if u custom order. For me it is worth it.They are beautiful, and versatile and go with so many outfits. I highly recommend them.

I hope this review is helpful more than anything. I'm giving CYDWOQ a three because they are both the best and the worst brand at the same time- let me explain. They actually inspired me to learn how to fix and even make my own shoes. I love the way they look so much. They just are way too expensive for the amount of time they last. It seems from the reviews that this is a shared experience. I have many many pairs and the soles are always the same/ with normal wear they last only 4 months on average. So, it's really up to the company at this point, they have this information and know it to be true. I wonder how they will address it. It's in their hands. We love you- but we also just wonder if you care about the customer and our experience. There has got to be a way to improve the quality and durability of the sole. With love, your customer

Wish there was a zero star option! DON'T buy from this company !! From beginning to end this has been a HORRIBLE experience . -damaged product -terrible customer service -left with unnecessary extra charges for their mistakes ! Already expensive shoes and expecting high quality to match - shoes came with damaged heel . I simply asked for a modest credit in order to pay for my local shoemaker to fix their mistake (International customer so this would have been the best way to remedy the situation.) Emma , Cydwoq customer service handled everything so sloppily ! her miscommunications , poor suggestions and lack of care ended up costing me $300 in fedex shipping there and back twice - when if she gave the credit to fix the damage would have only been a little over $30 ! Not worth the hassle . you can find similar quality locally and for sure any other dealer would offer better customer service ! too bad because I think the business owner at this company is nothing like his front end agent! She should have thought about the fact that I had two more shoes in my shopping basket and offered a simple credit to appease not make me waste more funds on shipping across borders! too bad for this bad experience !

Two months in and the rubber sole has already worn out. Now as I understand it I can send it to them and after $120 and a couple of months get the shoe back, or go to the shoe repair shop and pay probably half as much but for a random result.
