tl;dr: After using them happily for years, their lack of care and neglect of my concerns resulted in an *additional $2,000* in fees. They then dismissed that they had any responsibility in the matter. ----- The longer version. I used a previous tax preparer that left the firm. I decided to continue with the firm and get my taxes prepared, hopefully, from Steve, who I had heard great things about. I have many friends and family who us I reached out in January and said "I have a special case that I think has a good deal of complexity." They matched me up with a different, non-Steve tax preparer and said "she can take care of everything." In addition, they put the appointment in June. I pushed hard about the various complexities of my situation, they said she would be able to take care of it. I also asked if there was any earlier time, they said there wasn't, but they would file an extension for me. Right around April 18th, feeling a bit nervous, I asked and verified they had filed the extension. They confirmed and said "it's automatic!" I got to my June appointment and when I started giving the documents they said, "oh, you didn't say this had to do with a Limited Partnership, that is an extra complexity, your tax preparer won't be able to handle that, you need Steve." This was frustrating, to say the least, but I agreed. The next appointment, however, was now in July. Come around July, I finally got to Steve (despite a phone dropping several times in a row, which I didn't think anything of until reading other reviews and how they have frequent technical problems). Steve was very competent and did everything within 30 minutes easily -- cost $500. Steep price, but figured if it saved me that much money, it would be worth it. Then, a month later, the IRS and state gov reached out to me and told me that because I paid late that I had an additional $2,000 in fees to pay. I went back to Steve and he/the office said "we got you an extension for filing, not for paying" (to be clear, they never told me there was a difference, never gave a heads up of). I said "how was I supposed to know how much to pay without filing? Isn't this something you could have warned me about?" Their response was "The IRS knows the flaws in its system" (not sure how this helps the situation). So, they were completely dismissing that their delays, which I had repeatedly expressed concerns over, cost me an extra $2,000. The reason I go to a tax professional and not Credit Karma is because *I do not know tax law*, and I expect a tax professional to *protect me* from undue charges and anything illegal. I cannot fathom not taking care of clients and putting the onus on them to know the tax law and dismissing them. When I mentioned that this would probably cause our multi-year relationship to end, as this essentially turned into a $2,500 tax preparer fee (which is outrageous), the response I got was "understood." It made me believe that they have no loyalty or faith for any of their customers. They accept money when it's convenient and easy, but willing to drop you as soon as it's not.

I have used Art Moore's office for my taxes for more than 40 years!!! I could not be more more sure of an excellent job!!!

We've been going to Moore & Paquette for years and years and we're always very satisfied and often pleasantly surprised with the results. This year we waited too long to get an appointment with a Steve so we booked with Brandon for the first time and were very pleased with him! Basically, anyone that is available in the office will do a great job and we'll continue to go there to have our taxes done for many more years to come! So glad we were turned on to Art Moore all those years ago. Way back in the '80's I think!!

I have been getting my taxes done by Steve Paquette for several years now. I can honestly say that it's always a great experience. He is quick and efficient and has such a great demeanor. Doing your taxes each year is always a daunting task, so the fact that you have someone you can rely on and trust, is extremely important. I am in the entertainment business and he is quite knowledgeable when it comes to this type of tax prep. I highly recommend Steve to anyone, particularly in entertainment. I hope to continue our business relationship for years to come.

I have used Moore & Paquette Tax Group for the past decade for a reason. Steve Paquette has always done a professional job with my yearly tax preparation. I've never had a problem in ten years. My spouse also uses Moore & Paquette Tax Group. They have also been helpful in getting me copies of past returns for our mortgage application, when we purchased our home.

Steve is great guy. He has a mild and professional demeanor that makes your encounter with him stress and hassle free no matter what your tax situation is. He will work with you and exhaust all means to resolve any issues, in the most simplified manner that you can understand. Tax issues are always complicated but Steve makes it all easy. He knows his business very well and is very adept to any current Tax regulations. Above all what makes Steve different from any accountant, is that he gives you a sense of security which makes you feel " He's got your back all the time". Thank you Steve for being my accountant!!!!

I am writing this on behalf of my fiancé, who has used Art Moore to file taxes for a few years. This last year he received a letter from the IRS stating that he hadn't accounted for all of his income and owed $$. That's the first mistake Art made. My fiancé decided to give him another try this year. He drove 1.5 hours to Burbank, called to say he would be late and ask if it was okay (rush hour traffic). They said, sure, come on in. He waited an hour to meet with Art once he got there. After an hour of listening to Art BS with someone in his office, Art walked out of his office and said he was done for the day. My fiancé had to drive another 1.5 hours home, all for nothing. It is beyond rude to tell someone that it's OK that they are a bit late, have them continue to drive to the appointment, then decide not to meet. He wasted 4 hours of my fiancé's time. Do not waste YOUR time with this careless and inconsiderate person.

Coming to this office will put you at risk with the IRS. They are not licensed CPA's, they are not licensed anything, so they risk nothing. I was audited and he disappeared, no return phone calls, nothing, according to the IRS this office is known for having a lot of audits due to his "boo boo's." DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY, AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I repeat AWFUL. You will have to hire a CPA and you will regret using them now, do not do it.
