A review, 1 week later. I love supporting small business and was shocked to find someone so close to home. Kimchi- 5/5. Portions are large - wish they were smaller but it was so good. I'm still working on the smallest size and it taste fresh and is sooooo crunchy! We also got some of the home made dumplings - amazing! Will be back here when we need to re up our supply. Support local businesses!!

The store owner is a con-man. He'll do a bait and switch to get rid of kimchi that is older. He sold me cucumber kimchi instead of radish kimchi, and even incorrectly labeled the item so the customer wouldn't realize until opening. He refused to apologize for the mistake, stating that the cucumber kimchi is good. That's not the point. Be careful when purchasing and make sure to check that it's the right item or this owner will try to trick you!

This is the highest peak of Korean kimchi produced here.Korean kimchi made clean and safe for the family to eatYoung radish kimchi, special kimchi/sikhye/salted oysters, etc. are more delicious. The food is clean and reliable.

Sometimes, you find something so good it literally makes you stop and ask yourself if you want to share it on Yelp. You worry about if somehow the quality of the product will diminish if it becomes too popular, if it becomes more difficult to find parking, etc... HGK is literally THAT place! So I've heard of HGK for years but somehow never stopped in. Maybe because I live SO close to an Hmart, maybe because I've grown accustomed to mediocre, store bought kimchi. But a few weeks ago I decided to drive out and see what all the hype's been about. HGK is literally right across the street from Knott's Berry Farm, located in a small, unassuming little strip mall. It has its own parking lot and is easily accessible. When I walked in, I was greeted by an adorable friendly Korean gentleman who was eager to help me. He explained that they were out of cut kimchi that day, but that the whole one was better anyway! Customer started coming in, all knowing exactly what they wanted- everyone was speaking Korean & they all wanted both the whole regular kimchi and white radish kimchi as well. So I basically decided to get what everyone was ordering, along with cucumber kimchi (my favorite). I was expecting the prices to be higher than what I'm used to, but I was pleasantly surprised that the price points were similar to, if not a bit cheaper than what I'm used to paying at Korean grocery stores! Most of the other customers were also purchasing bags of frozen Mandu (Korean dumplings) but I forgot to bring my cooler and decided to try some on my next visit. FYI- they carry other Korean snacks and staples. It's a rather small shop, but there's definitely variety! Anywho, I literally raced home and couldn't wait to taste everything- O.M.G. It was AMAZING!!! It was the first time in years I felt like I was eating delicious, homemade kimchi. HGK is LEGIT!!! The Napa cabbage kimchi and cucumber kimchi were both perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and deliciously. I normally am not a white kimchi fan, but HGK's has now made me a fan. My family was shocked to see me inhaling it (lol)! If you are anywhere in the SoCal area and want/need kimchi, this should be the ONLY place you get it from. It really is THAT good! Not only that, knowing that you're supporting a small business that not only provides a superior product but also great customer service should make you as big of a fan of HGK as I now am!

Young radish kimchi, special kimchi/sikhye/salted oysters, etc. are more delicious. The food is clean and reliable. The price is more expensive than the market, but the taste and sincerity are the best. You can live healthy only if you eat food made with good ingredients and sincerity.

Come here for great quality kimchi from a longstanding hole-in-the-wall kind of spot. We got the "special kimchi" which even has pine nuts in it. The kimchi was delicious and relatively fresh. They also have other fermented goods, soybean paste, and korean pantry staples. There is plenty of parking.

I LOVE THIS KIMCHI place. I believe this is a super hole-in-the-wall family own business. And I love everything about it. Honestly, I cannot go back to supermarket kimchi ever again. The kimchi is so flavorful and so fresh! I highly recommend this place and will continue to come back here for my kimchi cravings.

Best kimchi! Must try! I love their cucumber kimchi and whole Napa cabbage kimchi. If you like spicy food, their Serrano pepper Banchan is yummy but spicy.

This is an tiny independent friendly family shop making outstanding kimchi, white kimchi, bellflower (and many more) banchan, rice drink, tasty frozen manju dumplings and lots more in store, with love. They used to jar in glass but one too many breaking ruins the kitchen and batch, so they switched to plastic. I drive there from Signal Hill. Normally get the half gallon kimchi but will go whole gallon next. So vital to support independent businesses today, go see them!

It's so hard to go back to supermarket kimchi once you've tried their kimchi. Made fresh every day - I can eat an entire small jar within a few days! It's the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, with a richness that supermarket kimchi just can't beat. Once it gets really fermented, their kimchi makes the most delicious kimchi chigae. I go out of my way now from Irvine just to pick up jars of kimchi every few weeks. $21 for the larger jar of kimchi, $14 for the smaller jar of kimchi. They have other homemade side dishes here too, as well as a curated selection of Korean grocery staples. Service here is always very helpful and friendly!
