I have bought almost all my guns online and through my FFL. I came here knowing my Birthday was 12 days away and just wanted to see what they have. Ended up picking up a Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness and a CZ SP-01. Needed a new long gun since my M700 is short and has a bit more blast and flash than I wanted and I already have a CZ P-01 and wanted a full size version. Selection was nice and more than I expected so it was easy to pick up two guns without having to search high and low. The prices for the guns were less than what I would have paid online so the value was there for sure. The CZ was cheaper and the Bergara is just hard to find anywhere except online and thus allowed me to hold and feel it. Service was excellent. Only hit is the wait but that is just staffing and the length of time it takes to buy a gun in CA. Still it was excellent service and the selection is pretty good. I recommend buying a gun from here if you are willing to wait. lol

Thank you for responding back Jermey P. in regards to my experience. Did you also know that the store only has 2.1 stars. That means there's a huge problem. I forgot to mention I asked for a manger to speak about my situation. I got Caden O'Connor. That was a mistake lol. This guy is sitting in the back while a heated customer is waiting. When I went back there and no one else was there he said he was busy and will be with me. Finally 15-20 later he walks right by me and does a hand gesture wave. Didn't know what that was for or whom. About 5 minutes later he comes to me and says oh there you are. Told him what happened and he was not taking responsibility and being condescending. I asked him so what can you do for me. He said loudly with his hands in the air "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU." I was done at this point and told him he needs to do a better job dealing with a customer as a manager and walked away. Now my background check has been extended because of the re filling to beginning of February when I bought the gun on December 13th of 2023. Very much disappointed and people need to know.

After reading some of the poor reviews here, I'm starting to think that this store could care less about customer service or their reputation! I ordered a rifle and had it shipped to E2's Gun Vault in Mtn Vw. Besides it taking incredibly long to get it there with very little notifications, I gladly paid the $15 transfer fee to avoid an hour and a half drive to Brentwood. Well thier FFL also had a transfer fee of $100, which was not disclosed anywhere on Sportsman's website, anything over $50 should be mentioned somewhere!?? I finally get the rifle home and one of the two magazines does not fit the rifle. OK, mistakes happen, no big deal, so I write to customer support. They write back saying that they cant help me and to call the store. I call the store and they tell me that they don't even do FFL transfers?!?! WHAT?? Do you even work there?? I insisted that I purchased the weapon on their website to be transferred to the FFL and they charged me a transfer fee so how would this happen if they don't do that? Her response "Weird, call the FFL, it's their problem to fix this". WHAT? HOW? WHY? Seriously!!? I knew this was wrong, but I called the FFL anyways, they were as confused as I was, as to why Sportsman's would say that. So here I am warning you about your next potential Clusterfunk! Save yourself the headache, its not worth a couple of saved bucks that it will cost you in time, effort and more money later anyways.

Last place I would go to buy ammo or firearms. Their system or lack of sucks. No one in that department has any customer service skills. Its very apparent management could care less. The wait time to buy ammo is ridiculous. the staff acts like your bothering them and they ignore you. Forget about calling as no one will answer in that department. What a way to run a store.

Avoid the gun counter at this location at all costs! I've been to this store four times and only walked out with what I came for once. First visit, I'd ordered ammo online and paid for it. Came to pick up, had to take a number to wait for pick up. After about 30 minutes of waiting, the young lady was very rude and refused to give me my order despite the fact that I had my gun license and ID. I had to return to the store with my passport because I didn't have a Real ID. I return to the store the next day (I live quite a distance from the store), and the woman that helped me DID NOT ask for my passport! My time and gas was wasted! Fast forward and I want to purchase another gun. I get to the store hours before it closes only to be told that the gun counter was closed already. I arrived in the store right before 3, They told me to come back at least by 2pm. A few days later, I return to the store around 1pm. I went to grab my number and the number counter machine is empty. I asked one of the guys behind the counter and was told that they took the numbers out because they weren't taking any new customers for the day- despite the fact that they didn't close for another 2 hours!!! Several of the customers approached me and said how they'd been waiting for hours just to pick up their guns and even if you got there first thing when they open, you will still have a long wait. I will not be back to this store again.

(Update- I returned my order. I bought the same firearm online and it shipped the next day to my usual FFL.)Do not order or buy a firearm here. I unfortunately ordered one from them online. There were no shipping updates once the order was "In Transit". Once I arrived at the store. The wait was over 2+ hours to fill out the DROS. They have 3 people working the counter who take their sweet time to input data that should take 20 min max. There was an old guy who was stocking the ammo who had a bad attitude. When he was asked by a customer about ammo and round count, he became irate and told the customer to go wait in line to ask his questions. Avoid this store at all costs. Pay the extra shipping fee to ship to your local FFL.

After experiencing (an currently is) the plight of waiting, I have to mention the elephant in the room which is the firearms department of Sportsman's Warehouse. First off, the employees of Sportsman's is great. They're really helpful and friendly. There items on store are really interesting: from camping gear and copious amount of grills make it really great for Brentwood. Until then, I had great experience purchasing stuff like camping stools to reloading components and even ammunition. The good experience all stopped when I was trying to purchase a rifle for my son. Simply put, the wait times at this Sportsman Warehouse just sucks. On a Friday morning, I took a number for the que in the line just right after the store opened. I timed the wait to about 30 minuities per customer. I am 12th in line. Needless to say, I just left an hour later with still 10 customers in front of me. In context, I had a private party transfer at Sportsman's in Fairfield on a Saturday afternoon and waited less than an hour. I bought some ammo at Sportsman's in Stockton and breezed right through it as theres was no wait. I do not take away from the employees behind the firearms counter; they are friendly, cordial, and doing the best in spite the insurmountable task of going thorough the line. But the wait times here is just unsustainable. Maybe management can take a cue form the restaurant business and try out their online sign ups and update customers their que in the line via text.Sidenote: Turner Outdoors just opened at Pittsburgh the rivals and even beats Sportsman's Warehouse guns deals. If their que system is ever so slightly better than Sportsman's, I'd reckon I'll be shopping there for firearms.

Just like everyone else I experienced a ridiculously long wait at the gun counter. If they didn’t have what I wanted in stock I would not come back.

Gun counter is ALWAYS understaffed. Even with the “take a ticket system” they are often so backed up that they stop giving tickets out around 4:00 pm. JUST HIRE MORE PEOPLE. Your not lacking business to fund it! There is literally no reason they can’t always have 5 people working. Having to wait 4+ hours to get service is nothing short of absurd.

If you are shopping for a new gun you better pack a lunch because you will be there for a while. Staffing in guns is minimal at best. Alot of people waiting around to be served.

Extremely long waiting time in guns and hunting section. Starting from purchasing or picking up the firearm to just buying anything like ammo or other stuff. The process is so slow that you have to plan to stay in line for at least 30-40 mins even if you have 1-2 people in front of you. I will be actively looking for an alternative store for my needs :(

i was looking to buy the sig p320 m18. the website said they had it in stock at the retail store. i even called ahead to make sure. the lady on the phone put me on hold and checked she said, "yes we do..we have 5 of them"i said cool i'll come down. i get there have to take a number (can't be helped without taking a number) and looked at the clock it was 10:55am....i'm finally called up at 12:40pm and i say that i'm looking to purchase the p320 m18, the guy tells me we don't have any. i explained she had told me they had them. he says "those are all purchased already"so after driving 30 minutes and wasting gas both ways and standing there for 2 hours i was told, too bad so sad. not even going to bother ever coming back to that store. can't even trust what the employees say before you waste your time and gas

WHEN READING YELP REVIEWS, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE ONES. IF THEY HAVE ZERO FRIENDS AND LESS THEN 5 REVIEWS, YOU CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE THEY ARE ENTITLED. Most these shops take a little getting used to, and I use Yelp a lot, and fortunately for me, I know how to use Yelp. A lot of it tends to do with the type of people who write negative reviews, and the ones on here seemed like they were rookies with their negative reviews. For a big box store they performed as I'd expect. I'd go back if I needed to and was in the area. The person who helped me (Corbin maybe??) was knowledgeable and put me thru the line as fast as you'd hope someone would. In a store like this, once you know how they operate, they are all the same. Follow their rules and apply them to your needs and they are efficient. The selections and value of what they have is appropriate for the setting and current climate of the world.

I came in to get a collapsible bowl for my dog. I rode my bike but forgot my lock. Upon walking in they immediately told me to leave it outside. I said, "no way, it's a 1500 dollar bike. I can't just set inside while I shop?" They said nope. So I just left. Just another big box chain store. Don't care about customers.

I purchased my first pistol here at this store. I don't understand why they cut the seal and opened my handgun box. Then I have to leave my paid opened box gun at their store for the 10-day waiting period. Why would anyone trust the store with an unsealed gun for over 10 days? I just purchased my second pistol here online. I expect my new pistol will remain sealed until I am ready to take it home. This first gun purchased here unsealed left at the store for 10 days had no trigger after 79 shots at the range. Sig replaced it for me quickly. There should be no new pistol unsealed and opened left at the store for 10 days period!
