I get my dog's seizure medication here, which unfortunately is a controlled substance. This location has managed to delay and erroneous fill my dog's Rx despite it being the same since I started going to this location years ago. The many issues that have occurred are
- out of stock found out on the day of refill requiring either to wait a few days or a partial fill
- filling the incorrect quantity of tablets
- delays in filling this time sensitive medication
- being told incorrect dates by multiple people
- lack of communication when stock or dates are changed
I understand it is a controlled substance and requires filling within a day of running out of the previous one. However, this time, after addressing many of the above issues, I called to verify the date I can pick up, which would be 5/11. No problem as then I will not have a gap in seizure medications for my dog. I even called twice the week leading up to confirm they have enough tablets in stock as this has been a recurring issue in the past. Again the pharmacy tech confirmed 5/11 as pick up date. I also receive a text stating Rx will be filled on 5/11.
Come 5/12, I did not receive any text that the Rx is ready. I already knew there was an issue as that has been the pattern at this location. When I called, Jerry answered and stated that Shauna the manager had placed a deferment on the Rx to 5/20. My dog will now have 9 days without medication. I did not receive any notice that the Rx was deferred and Jerry did not know the reason. Shauna is not available over the weekend and there is no one Jerry can reach out to to fix this urgent issue.
This is a problem as my dog has withdrawal seizure and anyone on long term seizure medications know that missing doses can lead to withdrawal seizures.
This has been an headache I have to deal with every month with one issue or another but this one was truly egregious without any explanation. It's unbelievable that a Rx I have gotten monthly for the exact same dose and quantity has a problem every time, despite my best efforts to call in early to troubleshoot the problems before they occur.
Due to the controlled substance discrepancy, I have filed a formal complaint with the third party that Rite Aid contracts with as well and the CA Board of Pharmacy. I want others who use this pharmacy to be aware of the prescription discrepancies that occur frequently here and know it is easy to fill out a formal complaint with the CA Board of Pharmacy.
3. After calling again this AM and discussing the issue they were able to fill my dog's medications and found the error that occurred on their end. The pharmacy manager, Shauna reached out to me personally and apologized and explained what had occurred on their end that resulted in this delay. The timing was poor due it being a weekend. I really appreciated Shauna reaching out and explaining the situation and apologizing as this makes me feel more confident that my dog's medications will be filled appropriately moving forward. Changed to 4 start but still minus 1 due to the past issues.
6/11. Spoke too soon. Exactly one month on the next refill and there was an issue again. Not only that but it is a recurring issue. I called 5 days in advance to confirm the refill this time. Nina told me on the phone that the medication would be ready today. It is not… I’m more disappointed that the entire issue and apology from Shauna last month was nothing but lip service. Despite calling and being told the medication would be ready they failed to order it and was low on stock. Again this is a seizure prevention medication that can’t have missed doses. Truly disappointing that there would be so many issues basically ever single monthly refill.

The staffing on Sunday sucks, they say they will be right with you at the ice cream section while they talk with each other and when someone else they help them first as you watch them ignore you. Very unprofessional and selfish behavior. They should have closed this store and kept the la habra store open.

This is a great store and pharmacy. It's like a mini-grocery store; there's a lot of extra space here so the aisles are wide and clean. Not only does it have medications and medical and nursing supplies like most other pharmacies but it has all sorts of other groceries and sundries. There's even an ice cream stand with Thrifty ice cream. Brings back memories. I came here for the ice cream but left with kitchen stuff and cleaning supplies as well. I think with the extra unused space, Rite-Aid could set up a medical clinic or urgent care center in house.

The closest pharmacy to my residence is the Brea (on Imperial Hwy) location I usually go to. However, I have been facing issues with the staff, especially with an attendant named Nina, who is consistently rude and unprofessional. Despite reporting her behavior to her supervisor, there has been no improvement in her conduct. I have decided to switch to a different Rite Aid pharmacy for my future needs.

This pertains to the pharmacy. Why they can't keep one pharmacist on duty during their lunch hour so that you can pick up a prescription is beyond me. I get there only to find out I was not able to get my prescription because there wasn't a pharmacist who could "counsel" me on the medication. From prior experience, being "counseled"involves being asked if I had any questions. I wasted my time to come here and now have to come back. Their text messages advising that you had a prescription to pick up should include the hours that they are unavailable to dispense medications. That would be a major improvement.

Great family Store, they have most everything you need been going to rite aide for 60 years since the ice cream was 5 cents a scoop, I still go for the ice cream, unfortunately its not 5 cents anymore but still very good. Love Rite aide

I love this Rite Aid, everyone that works there is so friendly and nice. Helen you're always so sweet. I'm so thankful for the pharmacy friends I have made there. I appreciate you guys so much all of you are so nice and helpful. With all my health issues and new medications I see them often lol Thank you guys for always being so nice when I come in. Refused to sell me AA batteries with an expired license. Who the hell checks ID for a pack of batteries. Ridiculous “policy” and I couldn’t search for anything on the internet as to why this would even be a requirement.

Summer is back and so does ice cream craze. Lots of people came after us to get their choice of ice cream scoop at Rite Aid. The ice cream station was not manned, so everyone had to wait for 5 min until one cashier who was working alone in the front came over after helping customers. The same old good ice cream. Kids love them!!

Overpriced stuff and when you need a return without a receipt they only give you store credit.... Even Walmart can give your money back without a receipt as long as you have the card used.

Just Sayin!!!!!There is no other Pharmacy in Brea Better than Rite Aid.Why ? Shuana, Philip Helen and Nina all are so nice , call you by your name and make every stop in to get your meds very pleasent.Thank you for all you do.
