The workers are trash. They need to learn what manners are and stop acting entitled. Horrible customer service and they need to do better. They have bad attitudes especially the male workers. All the workers have bad attitudes and the shop is just a mess

I went to Your Basic Bird to get a pair of budgies after my beloved one died. It's a lovely big store full of bird supplies. I asked for males, specifically to avoid female territorial aggression. The employee that helped me insisted the pair he showed me were males. I was pretty sure they were females but let him talk me out of my first impression. Turned out they are females, now that they're mature. I love them anyway, though it's more challenging having a pair of females, but if someone needs a specific sex be sure to trust your gut and knowledge over the employee recommendations because at least one of them doesn't know enough to be accurate. The birds I got are lovely though. They are very healthy, hand-raised so were pretty tame when we got them. They just argue a lot. I would definitely shop there again for future budgies, but will trust my own expertise rather than let myself be talked out of what I knew to be true.

The employees are all knowledgeable and very helpful. Its clean and the birds are friendly and talkative.

We buy all our bird seed here for wild birds. The owner is an older woman who appears to know everything about pet birds. Her deep knowledge is a community resource.

My 2 cockatiels I bought as youngsters, 2 males, Fred and Charlie. They were a big part of the family. They lived to the ripe old age of 35, just hours of each other.

This place is utterly horrible. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The birds there look ill and unhappy. They charged me 280 dollars for bird sitting two small birds for 5 days. UNBELIEVABLE. When I brought up the discrepancy in price on their website the woman said their website hasn't been updated since 1971 and didn't honor their own pricing! Talk about fraud/shady! More importantly think about how often they update their food and animal care if they haven't managed to update/honor their own prices since 1971. But charge you whatever they feel. Don't walk, RUN away. I am currently looking into reporting this "business" to the BBB

Owner books of time for an appointment since then she takes 20 minutes to feed her birds made me wait that long for a 5-minute nail clipping very disappointed there was an egg in a cage on the bottom of it the parents were very disturbed because it was not in a nest I told the guy he said yeah I know that was it I do not like this place

I’m giving this place one star. The male staff there are very rude and condescending. They are NOT!!! I repeat NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE SAVY!!!. I’m not really sure why people with jobs think they can act however they want to certain individuals. This is going to stop immediately. I am so sick and tired of business owners being rude because of their own entitlement. If you own a business ACT RIGHT TO EVERYONE!!!!! Or you will see the backlash. Trust me.

I got a cockatiel back in the very early 2000s, probably one of the most obedient birds from Your Basic Bird. Had a really good experience with that establishment. Fast forward to 2023, I decided I wanted to get a green cheek conure. Remembering the good experience I had with this place, I thought I give this place another shot. I was first met with Zack, which was one of the a handlers for the green cheek conure I was planning to get. He told me that this little guy would be great at teaching him how to fly to you on command. And he was exactly right. When I brought him home, he was so friendly and affectionate. I taught him how to fly to me within 10 minutes. So after a week, they told me to bring him back to weigh him and to see if he's doing ok. I was met by Claudia, the store owner, who you can tell is so gentle with the birds. I decided to buy a bird stand and she goes to the back and builds one for me. A place where they care about birds, an owner who goes above and beyond, this will always be my good place for all my bird needs! You guys rock!

I called looking for advice on feeding my parakeet that is sitting on eggs. I didn't know what to feed her that she can feed her babies, if and when the eggs hatch. They were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you Basic Bird
