2801 ADELINE ST Is the worst Walgreens I have ever been to. I've been a customer for nearly two decades and the pharmacy experience is enough to make me switch to Costco or CVS. The woman at the counter has D- customer service skills. Zero sense of urgency despite what is always an extremely long line. In addition she is rude and does not seem to understand how to do her job. I understand that everyone has a bad day but this has been my experience with her both on the phone and the three times I've come into your store since moving to Berkeley. I highly recommend management oversight or at least retraining for this woman

This Walgreens is absolutely awful, particularly the pharmacy. The line is always long and moves excruciatingly slow—I don’t think I’ve ever waited less than 20 minutes no matter the time or day. Pharmacy staff is clueless. The store itself is also dirty and disorganized. If there were more pharmacies in the area I would never come here again.

This is the worst walgreens. The line is always a million miles long, so many employees working but only one at the check out. Poorly run

they did not process my western union amazon order. i called the manager she says they don't have western union or do amazon orders. i have the receipt for it and code it says western union right on it, and amazon after many calls, confirmed the store did not process the order. this place is customer service fail. shut it down. Don't go here! you been warned. Went to get refund talked to 3 people, finally manager says you have to call western Union, I get a t mobile number then the correct number, western says we put in your refund request call us back in 72 hours to see if it's accepted. How about just give me my money back I have the receipt. Don't use western Union here.

This is literally... THE... WORST... pharmacy... I have ever interacted with. I have so many stories that I could write here. I'm not just referring to the terrible service, every month the pharmacist will just do things like refuse to fill the prescription I have been taking every month for twenty years, and make up some unreasonable bureaucratic demand like telling me to get a new doctor because the San Jose office of doctor I've had for fifteen years is "too far away" from Berkeley (couldn't tell me how many miles away they were supposed to be), or demanding a letter from my doctor that details my medical history. (My doctor said this stuff is illegal under California law.) etc. etc. etc. There's a lot more. It would usually take one to three months to get a single monthly prescription filled, and so I was crashing cold-turkey off my medication every other month. I was sick all the time and this was wrecking my life.Ok, one more story... I was behind a distraught woman who, I couldn't help overhearing, was desperately trying to get her new insulin prescription filled because she was currently in a hyperglycemic crisis after a couple of days of trying to get this filled. (Something about how it was a new prescription from a new doctor and something about someone needing to make phone calls.) She eventually needed to lay down on the ground, and the pharmacist asked if they should call an ambulance (I think she said that a family member was going to come pick her up.) (She was still conscious when I left.)Anyway, expect to wait in line for a hour and then not get your medication when you finally reach the pharmacist's window. Plan to return at least two or three more times in the following days before you can actually get your medication.(I switched to a different pharmacy a few months ago and have not had a single problem with my new one.)

The staff wants to overstep their bounds as pharmacists and play doctor. They second guessed my wife's prescriptions that she's been on for 30 years; and needs refilled in a timely fashion, and refused to fill her prescription submitted by a valid medical professional who has diagnosed and treated my wife since 2011 and who knows her condition and the need for her medications. Normally we've been going to the Walgreens in SF where there's never been a problem filling our prescriptions. However, this month our car is in the shop for repair, so it would mean taking the Bart and several busses to get to our regular pharmacy. Our clinic called in to the Adeline St. Walgreens this time as it would be a major hassle to go from Berkeley where we live to the City and back just to fill this month's prescriptions. When we called to check the status of our prescriptions; we were told that because of the nature of some of my wife's prescriptions, they would not fill them without a "plan of treatment" submitted by the clinic. That seems a bit like malpractice as they know nothing about my wife's condition and are refusing to fill an order from a legitimate medical practitioner without a written plan submitted to the pharmacist; which means delay in getting our medications, and we're already out of last months supply! If my wife has complications due to this delay, that would certainly be a case of malpractice and negligence on the part of the pharmacist. We've never encountered such an issue with any other pharmacy whether here in California, nor in Pennsylvania where my wife is from. Thumbs down on this Walgreens!

I have never had a single positive experience with this pharmacy. I truly wish they would invest more in making the use of this service anything but miserable. The employees are very unhappy, you can easily tell.

I am 64 and live nearby. The place is important to me. Having said this:This is likely in the top 2 or top 3 MOST PATHETIC managed business I have encountered in my lifetime. It ranks #1 worst for similar businesses.Everything is in disarray ALWAYS. ALWAYS SHORT STAFFED so you can expect a 20-40 wait in line just to pay for your purchases. When you see a sale, it is always empty (so, in real terms, sales are a farce). When you see a price posted, it is most often for another, unrelated item.Arguments, leaning towards outright fights regularly occur amongst patrons due to apparent frustration of waiting. When you ask any employee a valid question or mention anything that would be normal anywhere else, my most common response received is... Nothing. NOTHING. MORE LIKELY Management WILL SIMPLY BLOW THEIR CUSTOMERS OFF, CREEPING AWAY IN NOT-SO-SUBTLE WAYS.DON'T BLAME THE STAFF, they are mostly hard workers. Such a horrible business certainly due to poor management, consistent understaffing, and, above all, corporate irresponsibility over profits.Pathetic.

AVOID THIS WALGREENS. Woefully understaffed. At least an hour in line at pharmacy every time, then at least 50% of the time, your prescription is not ready or out of stock, despite multiple texts, calls, and emails saying it's ready for pickup. Partial refills are given most of the time, but the refill date isn't changed, so when you try to get the rest of the medication, you wind up paying out of pocket. There is a big sign out front saying free vaccines, but it turns out that's only if you have insurance- which is NOT free since it is being paid for y insurance companies. Despite making an appointment for your vaccine, you still have to wait in the hour long line with regular customers, only to sit and wait again for about 30 minutes to receive your shot. If you need to buy something locked up, don't bother hitting the call button. No one will come. Common household items are frequently out of stock, and if you find what you need, be prepared to wait in another long line. Photo orders are rarely done, and again, you'll wait for about 15 minutes at an empty counter before staff even notice you.

This place is the 9th circle of hell. It shouldn’t be that hard to pick up a prescription but somehow, each time over the last two years, a new failure mode emerges. You might ask yourself, how bad can it really be? I did. I’ve seen people scream and cry at this counter. Trust the numerous one star reviews, it really is that bad. I’d rather drive 20 extra minutes than come here again.
