The pharmacy denied me my pain meds after brain surgery ... told me my insurance won't cover it cause it's to high a dosage ... My insurance said it's covered no problem the pharmacist just does not want to give it to me!!! She's like oh you took this medication back in June yeah for a diffrent surgery for only a few days. It's a crime to have multiple surgerys In a year apparently !!

The pharmacy staff is completely incompetent. Insisting I pick up an Rx when no such thing happened. Still trying to clear up the issue to no avail.

The Walgreens located on Gilman St. in Berkeley showcases a friendly staff, offering a welcoming atmosphere to shoppers, which stands out as a positive aspect. However, the store struggles with organizational issues, making it challenging for customers to find what they need efficiently. This problem is further exacerbated by the store being understaffed, leading to longer waiting times and less available assistance for shoppers.Another significant limitation is the absence of self-service selling kiosks. In an era where quick, in-and-out shopping is often preferred, the lack of this feature adds to the inconvenience, especially during busy periods.

Jesus this pharmacy has really gone down hill post pandemic. Staff is rude as can be. My MD sent my prescription this morning (confirmed at the office before I left) and I got to the pharmacy at 5:30 - 30 minutes before it closed - and was told by the girl at the counter - Not Ready! And she snapped that rude as heck. I see why all the old staff has left this place and we only get meds here in an emergency. This place sucks

Worst pharmacy service ever. Went to pick up my prescription and they were over half half an hour late opening up. I did call at one point and they left me on hold for 45 minutes and then I was disconnected Then to top it off they could not find my prescription . After of several back-and-forth with my doctors office it was obvious that it was Walgreens fault and not my doctors. Took my prescription over to CVS and they filled it promptly .

I DO NOT recommend coming to this Walgreens for a prescription fill/refill. There is so many people that come here and the pharmacy is not organized at all. If you read my reviews, you know that I only like to do positive reviews but the service has been really bad!! We waited an hour and they told us it would be 10 minutes, after 35 minutes, we walked up and the guy said, it is still not ready. Finally after an hour I walked up and asked if it was going to be any longer, if so we could come back and he said that they didn't realize that we were waiting And they didn't fill our prescription so then we had to wait, another 5 minutes he said....the guy at the counter laughed. 30 minutes later we are still waiting. This will be our last time we fill our dads prescriptions here!

This is a black hole of customer service. The store is ridiculously understaffed. The lines are long, the existing staff is supremely unhelpful. After two weeks I am still trying unsuccessfully to transfer my prescriptions to another pharmacy.

I came last week Thursday to refill my prescription, they said it would be ready Tuesday by 5pm. I came back Tuesday to find out it's delayed. The pharmacy said they will call me when it's ready but should be good to go by Wednesday. It is now Friday and I have no prescription. I called and the African woman in the pharmacy quickly answered and put me on hold with out asking me what I needed. I called the store and they walked back to the pharmacy and told them to pick up the phone. The Mexican woman answered the phone and told me that my prescription was out of order and they don't know when they would get it back in. She did not care, she did not try to accommodate me, they did not tell me I can transfer my prescription to another store, they did not calls other store to check if they had it. I am out of medication which is dangerous for me and my condition. I am switching pharmacy because they do not care, they do not pick up the phone and they hang up on you.

Absolutely the worst checkout experience imaginable. I have tried this store three times and each time the checkout was an absolute nightmare. Never again. If you have any possibility of shopping someplace else take it. This store will absolutely ruin your day.

Can someone PLEASE reinvent the pharmacy experience. It’s SO bad and I would pay 5x more for a better experience. This one captures the exact issue. Horribly rude staff, won’t pickup the phone (hangs up on you when you do get someone), totally disorganized and short tempered staff.

Pharmacies are such a bad experience. If they didn't have a monopoly on distribution for certain things - they would not exist. This staff is so horribly rude (for absolutely no reason)

After putting a prescription at 8am, I was still standing in line at 4:30 waiting for it to be filled. Of the dozen people in line, no one has been here less than an hour. Two windows, only one being used for both appointments and pickup - neither of which is happening.

Because it's white chocolate pumpkin cinnamon chai latte season, it's bound to be vaccine time too. After finding no appointments at the pharmacies that I usually visit, I was delighted to discover that this Walgreen's had same-day appointments for vaccinations! I drove down to check in as directed (15-minutes before my appointment time) and left about 75 minutes later. The good news is that I ended up getting vaccinated; the bad news is that a good friend who also had an appointment ended up leaving empty-shouldered because the personnel was never able to verify that her insurance worked. Had I consulted this business's Yelp page ahead of time, I would have refrained from signing up and would have waited for an appointment elsewhere. While cooling my heels at this location, I read a string of one-star reviews from fellow yelpers who had tried to do business when the pharmacy. One-star reviews! Yelp has been subject to mega grade inflation; when I read reviews of a random business, most award four or five stars. You have to be seriously angry to leave one-star review; this location has managed to anger pretty much everyone. Amazingly, when I returned home I noticed that *all* local Walgreens have two-star Yelp averages (and presumably plenty of negative comments). There's something seriously wrong with this business; is management trying to run it into the ground? Back to my recent experience. When I first showed up, there was only one customer ahead of me. After I presented myself for my appointment, it took the pharmacists an amazingly long time to verify that my insurance would pay for the vaccine that I had requested. Then I had to wait even more time before the pharmacist delivered the shot. Meanwhile, a big line formed behind me for the personnel on duty. While hanging out, I overhead plenty of conversations like those reported in previous Yelp reviews: prescriptions that were reported to be ready but couldn't be found, insurance hiccups, other miscues. The pharmacists seemed to be spending most of their time typing with one finger, moving from keyboard to keyboard and consulting with each other about things that weren't working. As the pharmacist administered my injection, he told me repeatedly that I was the "lucky one" because he was able to get authorization for my shot. I want to emphasize that the pharmacist seemed to be especially skilled at administering the vaccine. I had no soreness in my arm the next morning and thought that he was a five-star inoculator.

If I could give -10 I would! This place is next to useless. They are understaffed, they're inefficient, and every time I go there it's a long wait, when you get to the counter you're lucky if your prescription is ready or even in their queue. I called their store today on 8-30-23, I was on the phone for 2 hours and when I was finally up, my call was disconnected from their end. I drive down there and they're closed because their staff didn't show up. (The whole freaking staff!)No warning on there call waiting about this. Wasted 2 hours of my precious time and was unable to pick up medicine I needed for a lung infection. This place is the absolute worst!
