Two Hats Consulting has done a great job helping me get my books and websites published. I've been working with them since 2014. They've designed book covers, written copy, and formatted entire manuscripts before managing the printing and publishing process for me. They've given me great people to work with for my website and provided a wide array of resources quickly and affordably. They are fair and they do great work. I highly recommend working with Two Hats Consulting. Five Stars

I was thinking post a sudden, serious back injury of going back into marketing to big tech companies in the Bay Area - though I now live elsewhere. I had a website in the past that helped, but it's outdated. I hadn't really dreamed of getting back into Tech. Also, though, I wanted to feature on the websites- services unrelated to Tech. Question - Does a system architect reading my website about oh, server failover, really want to see a service next to it, offering music? (LOL.) John is a classy guy who asked me the right questions to help me determine which mix of website services are appropriate and which aren't. As he says, and I agree, ultimately, business is built on relationships and there's a way to convey that so that there's not a confusion of brand message. I can have a business relationship with both a system architect and a consumer brand company that needs music. Sure, a website can help, but there's a way I need to go about it. I'm sure John can provide your own company with digital marketing, a great website and other services. For me, he provided the most important thing of all. He pointed out that, in my career I told clients what is 'meaty,' and meaningful about their product or services in a few words. And I told them to amplify this and little or nothing, else. Two Hats and John (reminded) me that the concision of speech is what I need to deploy at a new website - or in any other kind of marketing venture. "The dude really knows his stuff." Call John.

Yes, hi, hello. You might want to read this.I reached out to Two Hats for some help. As a small but growing business - which the website says they cater to - I was looking for a thought-partner to help me with branding, marketing, and social media. Which the website says they do. I sent an email inquiry asking for a brief phone meeting, which, you guessed it! the website says they do. I got an email back within minutes requesting more info about me and my business prior to that basic entry call. So I composed a thoughtful email with links, info about what I needed, asked if they thought we were a good fit, etc etc. No response. Waited some more. Nada. Wrote a second email. Finally got a response. Their schedule was "very full," they said, "except for projects we like and want." How nice. Maybe put THAT on your website...? I finally snagged a call with someone so I could get some info. The gentleman I spoke with couldn't remember the content of my email, even though he'd JUST emailed me back and told me to call him. He had no idea what I do for a living. He hadn't even looked at the links I'd sent, including my website. He sounded like he was cleaning his kitchen. He was totally distracted and disorganized. I asked if he'd read my email. He said he couldn't remember it. He then read it aloud while we were on the phone together. Great use of my time, yes? I had to repeat 5 times what I was looking for, which is super straightforward: a thought-partner to help me with branding, marketing, and social media. (I've now spoken with 2 other consulting firms. Neither had trouble grasping this concept. Both read that very same email and said it was "very clear.") The call was quite possibly the most unprofessional consult I've had in my career -- which is ironic, because they're a *consulting firm.* After half an hour, he said he believed Two Hats could help me and that the firm does indeed do the work I was seeking. Huzzah!! He said he'd do some HW, and asked if we could schedule a call the following day. I blocked off an hour in my schedule. But at the appointed time, no call. I waited. And then waited some more. Ten minutes in, I got a text. A TEXT. The text said: "Sorry. We can't help you. We only work with advocacy organizations." Remember that dumbass, immature boyfriend you had in HS who broke up with you via text because he couldn't face a phone call?? It was like that, only this was worse, because this is a PROFESSIONAL MARKETING FIRM. This mess is problematic for about 100 reasons, as all of you can probably tell. But let's break it down anyway, just for fun:First of all, CALL ME. I am a potential client. We have a phone appointment that YOU asked for. I blocked off an hour of my busy life at your request. Secondly, WHAT?! If your firm only works with advocacy orgs, SAY SO up front. Say so on your website so that potential customers don't waste their time. If you can't be bothered to update your own website, you sure as sh*t won't get access to mine. At the very least, inform your customer via phone during the initial consult after she tells you who she is and what she needs. If you don't know the limits of what your company does PRIOR to a call with a client, YOU'RE FIRED. You wasted hours of my time on research, emails, and a completely useless phone consult. Third, this "we only work with advocacy orgs" is a complete load of horsesh*t. Their website boasts a ton of work that has nothing to do with advocacy, including work for a local fitness center and some lady who wrote book on witchcraft. (Note: THESE ARE NOT ADVOCACY ORGS.) Did you think I wasn't going to notice that you lied to my face? How unprofessional. Bad look for a marketing firm.If we're not a fit, that's fine. Grow a pair, be respectful, call your potential client as scheduled, and tell her so. Don't waste people's time just because you have the luxury of doing so. The world doesn't revol

I work for a small, non-profit. We've used Two Hats for the last two issues of our newsletter and couldn't be happier. They make the whole process simple without skimping on details. Their knowledge and expertise (and patience!) have made my job easier. My boss is so pleased that we will most likely go to Two Hats for our major website overhaul...and hopefully all our design needs. Simply the best!

I have been working with Two Hats for nearly two years. They've helped me so much in developing my small company. I feel like I am learning and growing as a business person and I really enjoy collaborating with John and Damian on everything from structure to marketing and a new website design. I depart every strategy meeting feeling motivated with a clearer picture of how to continue moving forward. Additionally, they have referred me to a great bookkeeper and other resources. This has been so worth the investment on many levels. Thanks guys. Over and over.

These guys are brilliant and put up with a long, arduous slog putting together my company's website. Seriously: what should have been a three month process dragged out to a year, and these guys were patient and professional the whole time. I thoroughly recommend if you want a good dose of marketing along with your design, and if you don't really know what you're doing they'll hold your hand the whole time.

I've worked with Two Hats a couple of times now and have had an exceptionally good experience every time. John is the type of coach who does more listening than talking. They also frequently set up networking sessions for like-minded clients to share ideas around entrepreneurship.

I have had incredible anxiety about branding and tons of website shame and I've done several online programs about this stuff with some small results. But nothing complete or concrete. Sitting with John and Damian changed how I see not just branding, but the entire strategy of my business. They walked me through a clarity process that helped me understand the core of what it means to be visibility and showed me where I'd been hiding out. The very core of my visibility dysfunction was put up on a white board and made visible with all the love in the whole world to hold me through the transformation (and keep me from being sick to my stomach about the whole thing). I walked out of that meeting with crystal clarity about where we're going and a plan to get there. Not only that, but I felt loved and held that whole time. If you're even considering doing this work, these are the folks to do it with, no question.
