This place is awesome! I'm fat, and fitness spaces are not always welcoming to me, but at the Bar Method I feel welcomed, included, and supported. Also, as someone with joint problems, I really appreciate how they give modifications of the various poses and exercises that work for my body. I highly recommend coming here for a great workout in a great community.

5 stars! I have been coming here for at least 6 or 7 years now, and my entire body has grown stronger. I especially appreciate the diversity of the staff and participants at this Berkeley studio, and the sense of inclusion and belonging that it provides that many other fitness programs and studios fail to offer.

Wonderful community and terrific classes. Love how the program has evolved over the years, there are so many choices for class types now it can be hard to pick! I’ve been coming to this studio for 10 years - with a break in the middle for a hip injury. I had surgery to fix it in part because I wanted to be able to keep doing this kind of movement for as many years as possible. Helen and her fabulous team of excellent instructors know how to motivate you, keep you safe and make supportive small adjustments so you’re getting the most out of each move. Their creative combinations keep the classes engaging and fun. I just completed my 800th class and hope I can make it for 800 more!

I've been going to Bar Method Berkeley for over a year, and it's been a great experience. The studio is clean and modern. The instructors are knowledgeable and provide good personalized attention to ensure proper form during exercises. The workout focuses on strength, flexibility, and overall body toning, with an emphasis on proper form and low-impact exercises. The community is supportive and friendly. Over the past year, I've seen noticeable improvements in my strength and overall fitness. My favorite classes are Bar Method, Bar Cardio, and Bar Restore. Literally love this studio so much! The studio is always well prepared and warm. Just going to the studio makes me happy and bright. Additionally, the programs are various and the instructors are perfect. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful fitness studio! The space is beautiful, clean and welcoming. The instructors are kind and energetic. You will receive a lot of individualized attention in class as you learn the ropes of the Bar Method. The classes are difficult, but the instructors keep it lighthearted (there’s always a fun playlist) and accessible (lots of modifications and props). There are a ton of classes on the schedule with an unexpected variety to choose from, like Bar Flow and Bar Cardio. I’ve been taking classes for about a month, and I feel consistently challenged. This is definitely group exercise at its finest.

There are not enough good things to say about Bar Method. Not only is it an amazing workout, but Helen has cultivated the most lovely welcoming studio. I look forward to every class because I feel great , and I know I will be greeted personally and with a smile.

Love my Bar Method community! The workouts are incredibly fun and challenging. The varied formats and instructors keep it interesting and on my toes- literally and figuratively! I have had several injuries over the years and had a hard time finding an exercise program I can successfully do and maintain without causing more harm and I'm so thankful I found Bar Method. I love my Berkeley and Oakland Bar families- they are both so welcoming and kind. Highly recommend!

I haven't been back to the gym post my leg injury so I was hesitant how my body can adjust, Bar Method makes the transition very smooth and I am happily sweating away now :)
The studio feels airy and spacious with plenty of natural lights, sometime it does get full but with the high ceiling, you don't feel crowded. The instructors are detailed oriented and correct my postures gently. Love that! Also, the reservation system holds me accountable to show up for each class. Perhaps this time I will be able to stick to my workout plan!

I started bar method about 2 weeks ago and I love it! I am a runner who’s been looking to build strength in a progressive and mindful way and this is it! I already feel stronger, my plank holds are longer, and I’m becoming aware with my body patterns/imbalances. I love that all the instructors are open to reviewing questions after class. Lovely studio and friendly staff :)
