Ordered their Chirashi. At first glance it looks great, packed with sashimi and everything. But the sashimi is simply of poor quality. Given the price point maybe it is to be expected, but regardless it is a bowl of chirashi I definitely will not order a second time.

I value consistency and get the same thing everytime: miso soup and double order of shrimp tempura rolls. Always freshly prepared and easily best of the bay worthy. Sometimes I forget to request chopsticks but the staff is always nice about it when I call. The amount of food for the price/quality is also great.

Absolutely delicious!! The food was so fresh, well seasoned. With sushi, it's all about freshness. The service was amazing as well. Love our bento boxes. The salad was yummy, the tempura crispy and again fresh! We definitely will return. Took my daughter and her friend and had a marvelous time!

The best sushi spot in Berkeley. Just don’t tell everyone cause this is a hidden gem ?

Pretty solid, accessible, and affordable local sushi spot. Fish was fresh. Bento boxes were sizable. There was a lot of tempura on ours. Maybe too much; felt pretty heavy by the end. The sashimi was definitely a better value compared to the California rolls or gyoza for the bento boxes. Chicken Karaage was good but not as flavorful as I would have liked. Could have used a mayo or dipping sauce.Good service and nice decor.

A coworker highly recommended Nikko. She couldn't have been more wrong. Service was good, not great. The hot tea I ordered was not even warm, didn't taste good either. The chicken karaage appetizer was very disappointing. They use VERY fatty small pieces of chicken thigh meat. The chicken was extremely chewy with a texture like rubber. No real flavor other than salty. The karaage does not come with any dipping sauce or fresh lemon. Hamachi Lover Roll and Orange Blossom roll both did not taste fresh at all. Price before tip was $51.65. That is a big price for really low quality food. Would I eat here again? Definitely not ?

Service was poor. when I ask for caintaners to take my udon noodle and soup back, she said they don't separate it. I did it myself. knowing my noodles will be wet, she gave me a small caintaner, which I imsist for a small soup caintaner. she was not happy. Tea is tasteless. Color tea. tempura is cold and the batter is hard. California roll.. decent. Service is neg 10. First time and Last time!

It’s a quiet break from busy Berkeley, with enough space (inthe afternoon) to feel comfortable. Friendly service always with a smile, yummy food. I’ll be back!

they got my order worng and gave me terikyaki chicken instead of udon chicken, which sucked. The udon was flavorless and wasn't all that great anyway. Made me pay for the dish I didnt ask. Only thing I liked was the miso soup (forgot to take pictures)

I was hopeful based on the high ratings here, which set my expectations high. I was rather disappointed in the overall quality of the food, especially since their prices are higher than other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to recently. Their Dragon Roll is $6 more than it is at another restaurant we prefer in Albany, and the price of their nigiri sushi is higher too. The small gyoza weren’t very hot and didn’t have the best texture, the unagi sauce was a bit too sweet, the tamago looked like a piece of plastic, and the himachi on the nigiri sushi was sliced paper thin. Also the tea was tepid, which always annoys me, and there were a few overcooked grains of rice in the sushi, which is unacceptable. The standard miso soup normally served first was hot, but it came out after the appetizer and main course. Otherwise our server was pleasant and attentive. With so many better sushi restaurants in the East Bay to choose from, I would not return to this one. The menu is relatively small, so if you like a lot of different choices, this isn’t the place for you either.
