Please give people the kind of car they booked!!! We had the most terrible experience with yr electric car for the long trip that we took. The charging station rarely work along the way, when they do u need to wait for at least 45 mins for someone to be done, and then anither hr for tr car. The ev infrastructure is a joke, stations are often owned privately and costs ends up being much higher than gas. In short please stop giving people yr stupid EV cars and lying to them abt the whole system!!!

Zero star for sure. I made the reservation at 12 but they said no vehicle available. Ironically, they had multiple vehicles right there in the parking lot reserved for gold Hertz customers to pick up at 3. We had to postpone all the travel plans. What’s the purpose for making a reservation? Why don‘t you just change the service to walk in?

asked to pick up a rental a bit early day of and was told it’s be not a problem, i was not told the slightly earlier pick up would change the entire rental time to end early as well which was not what I would have agreed to in the first place, not at all communicated, just said not a problem to pick up a little early. realized this on the last day and wanted to extend the rental for another day anyways, called the location and was told i need to call a 1800 number instead to extend. called san pablo back to see if it would make more sense to come into the office and the man i spoke to said no, nothing he could do in office and to stay on the 1800 line and they would take care of it because they’d be able to see how long i was on hold for and make the changes there. Between all the calls and trying to use the app took an hour and a half with still no real answer other than a very expensive quote for an extra day. I just ended up renting a car elsewhere for the day for a fraction of the amount instead of dealing with this. Upon returning the car i was classically charged a late return fee, after explaining the situation for 3rd or 4th time the best they could do was knock 10 dollars off what they were now charging me.
Horrible customer service over the 1800 line and unclear call wait times, went from wanting to extend my reservation to absolutely never renting from hertz or again.
Adding that the people i spoke to at the san pablo office both in person and on the phone were fine/just doing their jobs.

Manager is rude. Extremely Long wait time just to drop off a vehicle. Don’t waste your time at this location

Does not have enough cars. Don't go if you want to have some options. The staff were not the best. Wait time for in person is very long. Wait time for phone call is also very long.

I rented a car for a day and returned the car with full tank. It was a mistake that i was one hour late since the staff told me that it would only cost me 17 dollars more. However, they charged me 180+ dollars for an original $68 reservation. They would try their best to tell you there is NO CAR at this moment and persuaded you to upgrade your car at the spot. They made a mistake to overcharge me the fuel fee $70 for 4+GALLON even after checking the car when I returned and said everything was fine. I wasted my time to argue with them and showed them the fuel receipt that I had just right before returning. The manager lady Kathryn Gieke showed me a BLACK FACE with no apology and no smile. She was so IMPATIENT to explain why this mistake occurred and said the refund would take A MONTH. I asked her about their previous saying about $17 for an hour and she said ALL the ADDITIONAL SUBCHARGES are in the hundred pages terms and conditions and I should read through that before renting a car FOR A DAY. i asked her who will waste time like this? She said I DID READ IT with a strange smile. Of course she should read it and she is a manager of hertz for several YEARS. I am here only to rent a car for A DAY. it is her paid job. It is so impolite to say in this way to provoke your customer. And she should explain to the customer about it to avoid MISLEADING.
The overall experience is TOTAL DISASTER and UNPLEASANT. Please avoid this.

The Hertz staff here are all enthusiastic and helpful. Thanks to manager Kathryn Gieke, she is very professional and patient, found out source of an issue on my account in Hertz system which made me into trouble almost everytime I rent with Hertz and fixed it.

Terrible service, you make yourself wait for hours and hours, and the workers do not have good attention, they just sit there doing nothing. I had a reservation and they didn't even attend to me, they told me to come back later or the next day just so they wouldn't attend to me

This location is really bad (Berkeley hertz,1061 san pablo ave)
Not only at their jobs but customer service as well.
I thought Chris was a really great guy at first but there are so many things that he doesn’t tell you about the contact and I mean important specific details and makes you wonder if this is a shady operation . I’ve been nothing but patient and a team player with this location and the staff , but today I had to release my frustration.
When I first picked up my Tesla through hertz for Uber , the dollar amount increased a-lot more than what it mentions on the app ( if you want the car fully insured) so it’s about $600 a week and they place a hold on your bank account on Fridays but you do get refunded which I wasn’t aware of on my first week and caused me problems financially.
They fail to mention the tolls and does not mention that you have to pay out of pocket . This is my biggest problem with this location. After 3 months of driving my Tesla I received a letter from plate pass of $782 worth of toll charges . I asked why this wasn’t brought to my attention sooner but he just shrugs it off and tells me “ it’s just one of those thing”
And “ I don’t mention the toll process unless someone ask me so I just assume you know” which is the most horrible response you can give a customer paying around $2400 a month . No sign of professionalism or any attempt to help out your customer. Which is sad .
I’ve worked in retail for several years and I’m currently a supervisor as well and I’ve always provided amazing customer service and am willing to go above and beyond for the customer. I just can’t believe this is allowed here. They ignore you and don’t even give you full details . It seems shady and I hate to complain but it’s been 3 months of constant headaches with them .
Another situation I had with them , I became eligible to have my car rental fees reduced and the message stated that I need to bring the car in and it will be inspected . Once we did that and everything was cleared all of the sudden they mention I need the car serviced. And there was no mentioning of that until that exact moment . Logan claimed I drove 10,000 miles in a month and that’s so ridiculous because the car that I’m currently driving ( which I had to wait over 7 hours for in the hertz office lobby ) I’ve had almost 2 months now and still have not reached 10,000 miles . So how does that work ?
I’m really just doing this to save up for my own car and I’m never dealing with this ever again. But they make it so difficult to actually save any kind of money. I do not encourage you to go to this location. It’s no wonder why it’s called Hertz, because it hertz your wallet and hertz your head.

Came here for a rental after my car broke down. I was able to get a clean reliable rental at a fair price. I'd like to also state that I didn't have to jump through flaming hoops to do so, like at their competitors down the street. Catherine also was able to extend my rental another week which was awesome. I will definitely be a hertz customer for any other rental needs
