You don't get to do your own framing there anymore but they were really lovely, helpful and steered me towards the less expensive option. Then when I picked it up they were very accommodating and I was very very happy with the work.

They did a wonderful job framing my wedding pictures. Plus, they let me know of various options so I could pick what fit my budget and the look I wanted. The staff was incredibly nice, like you were visiting family and they helped you get the work done. Awesome experience, and will definitely come back!

Knowledgeable staff with great communication. They really help you to get the exact look to make your art shine. I brought in vintage fabric to frame and they sent me lots of photos to make sure I was happy with the placement and patter orientation before they closed it up. When I have something special to frame I will not take it anywhere else.

My spouse had a birthday on approach, and we found an awesome painting in Puerto Vallarta. Huge. So they rolled it up and we brought it home. First thought "Michael's 70 percent off - yes!!!" but no way. So we go to The Framer's Workshop in Berkeley. Just to look. Jenette Yarnal helped us. So lucky. We rolled the huge canvas out on their work table. She examined the artwork in detail and pointed out to us where paint had cracked due to rolling how it should be framed. In her infinite framer wisdom, she suggested we adhere the very thin canvas to a layer to stabilize it. Thank God. Then, lots of discussion (!) about a frame. We picked something, and left super amazingly happy we'd found a shop who could handle the piece, (handle OCD us,) and do right by the artwork. Some news came that the desired frame was unavailable - Janette called, happily offered to put the beast in a TEMPORARY FRAME so we could hang it for a birthday gathering while a new frame was ordered. What? Who does that. Such service, and thoughtfulness. Back we went readdressed the frame subject. I was hell bent on a floater frame. We began to consider options beyond shades of gray and black. I found a silver metallic frame I liked. A lot. Of course, with her trained framer's eye, Jenette grabbed another version of the frame that even better tied in the colors of the piece and it was THE ANSWER. Fast forward to the day it was ready. It was my spouses's birthday. Surprise trip to the framer, and there it is, in all its abstract glory. Just WOW. Rather unbelievable. They even went so far as to build a custom transport box for it. Smiles and hugs of gratitude all around. Fast forward to home. On the wall it goes. It's glorious. In fact, the whole experience with Jenette, her coworkers, and The Framer's workshop was nothing short of awesome. So happy that this piece that hangs in our house has a story - begining with a birthday trip to PV, then to Berkeley where it found its perfect frame, and finally to our home. So grateful. Thank you Jenette, thank you Framer's Workshop!

Fantastic staff, full of knowledge. Lee was a masterclass in customer service and had a keen eye on how to pair the right wood frame to help our painting really stand out. The work is top notch - beautifully crafted. Thank you!

Good-sized framing shop (2 blocks from the UC campus) divided into 2 sections - ready-made frames and artwork on the left and custom framing workshop on the right. They have a truly vast selection of frames in every style and large table areas on which you and one of their team members/consultants can discuss options. I've had quite a few pieces framed by these folks and their work is flawless and of the highest quality. Most of the team members are welcoming, friendly and have much better taste than me when it comes to selecting frames. Be warned though - they are very very expensive.

I can't thank Framer's Workshop, particularly Mike, enough for the absolutely fantastic job they did with my digit print enhancement request. I wanted an image from a book enlarged, enhanced, and printed. Mike went above and beyond: he did a reverse Google search, found a better quality image, and thoughtfully printed the image to a size for which standard store-bought frames are available. He sent me updates every step of the way and made sure I received the best possible final product. More importantly, my friend, whom the gift was meant for, absolutely loved the spectacular job Mike did. We are very grateful for the personalized and exceptional service and will certainly use Framer's Workshop again for our future printing needs.

I've been a customer of The Framer's Workshop for over 15 years now and only have high, high praise for them. * The work is excellent quality and they will take great care of your art. You can leave precious items with them without worry. * No upselling. They'll work with your budget and provide options without any guff or shaming. * Wide variety of frames, mats, materials. You want something cool? They've got it. * Premade frames at discount prices, cute greeting cards, pre-framed art for sale, and DIY assembly options. They'll even teach you how to use the machines, so it's really like a free education. * Communication has been excellent over the years with different staff, which means training is consistently solid. Protip: sign up for the email list which sends you a monthly coupon.

The have recently done framing works for me several times for close to a dozen objects. I can confidently say that they have done an excellent job each time. I appreciate their spending time and being very patient in discussing various possibilities in accomplishing the work and make useful suggestions. They are very professional and have an artful eye on the subjects. The Manager Dana is gentle, kind and artful. I love all the finished products. They've become part of my daily life because I am surrounded by them.

Happy I decided to give this place a try. The service was excellent. Everyone there was friendly and helpful and they did a great job with stretching a canvas of mine. They also have a great selection of frames to choose from including a lot of pretty nice pre-made frames in a bunch of different sizes.

They seemed ok. I went here with my husband. He's an artist and now that my dad has died and no longer has a framing business, he does his own framing. I'd heard of them, because occasionally, my dad would buy frames from them and sometimes, they would frame things for him. So this was my first visit. This was a cute little shop in a cute little area, but we went in, looked around and weren't even greeted. No one came to check in on us. This is the type of place where I'll look for what I want and then order it from somewhere else (Amazon?) because I'm not having to deal with them ignoring me in person. So, they could be fine, I just couldn't get past the lack of reception and the fact that we were ignored. I usually say, "oh, I guess they don't want our money." but I honestly didn't care. So we walked out. They had some cute cards, but I wouldn't purchase them from them. My husband has gone to Michael's and was disappointed at what they had to offer and the cost! Don't get me started. They definitely lost a potential customer, not because of their offering but because they ignored us. So any questions weren't answered. Oh well. Their loss.

I found this place by searching for a place to frame my Hermes scarves. These scarves are not inexpensive and I knew that if I found a place that had done them before it would be expensive to frame them. The cost for the frame I chose (not pricey frame) was around $1350 each (I had 2 done). I expected them to be done in the manner that scarves like these should be handled. (I already had 2 done several years back in So Cal and so I knew what it should look like). The first time they said it was ready, I went to pick them up and didn't like the scarf placement; the scarf was crooked under the frame. So I left them there and they were happy to adjust it. When they were ready, I picked them up and it seemed fine. However while I was hanging them on the wall I further inspected them. Where the scarf is attached on the edges you can see they used pins to keep the scarf in place!!!!! They said they wouldn't use pins or other materials or adhesives and they used pins!!! So they damaged my scarves and the implementation was fair too! And at those prices I would hope they were professionals about this. I would have hoped if they couldn't do it they would have just said that when I inquired. Btw I took my scarves to 2 other respected frame places and they said they didn't have the confidence to do it well so they respectfully declined my request. I gave this review 1 extra star because the personnel was very nice.
