Mr. Foster is a Numismatists BEST FRIEND!!! HE IS A TRUE EXPERT in the field of Coin Collecting!!! Mr. Foster is an expert in all things currency related actually, HE LITERALLY WROTE THE BOOK!!!! He wrote a FANTASTIC BOOK all about the TRUE HISTORY OF THE FIAT CURRENCY SYSTEM, including historical refrences to every-single culture/Country that has used Fiat in the past, and EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS FAILED MISREBLY, with the exception to the current, WORLD-WIDE FIAT "EXPERIMENT" THAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN FORCED TO LIVE THROUGH STARTING IN THE 20TH CENTURY.... His book is a TRUE EYE OPENER THAT I ADVISE EVERYONE THAT HAS EVER TOUCHED, USED, SPENT, SAVED, OR COLLECTED CURRENCY OF ANY KIND TO READ, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND ???!!!!!! Thank you VERY MUCH Mr. Foster for the coins you have sent me, they have truly, and honestly become THE PINNACLES OF MY LIFE-LONG COIN COLLECTION!!!!! FIGHT THE BROKEN SYSTEM, BUY AND SAVE, AS MANY GOLD & SILVER COINS AS POSSIBLE, YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF SOMEDAY IN THE NEAR-FUTURE!!!

On saturday afternoon at 1 PM Pacific standard time. I called foster's coin and stamp company requesting an appraisal for my stamp collection of over 1000 pieces and asked whether it would be better if I sent photos, or if it would be okay to bring the collection in for a direct appraisal. The answer I received was rather humorous. The man-made joke of my French accent and sputtered a non sensical daffy duck sputter reply. He then stated that i would have to send in fifty dollars over paypal to him first before he looked at the set.Présent in the room who also overhead the conversation were a Chevalier of France and an American friend who has been assisting me in my interactions with the public while I am visiting this fine Nation.I would advise the owner to take care and caution of whom calls upon him, for as an Official Dignitary of France and the CEO/Chairperson of Vernon Industries US Corp., I was quite amused ? but also surprised.I am sure he is a good man with a sense of humor.

Completely rude. Called ahead, he told me to come in... didn't greet me, just futile me to dump everything out, began looking and fair $10 bucks for all of it (worth far more I'm all of those countries)- so I asked him what is the process, is he looking for specific things or actually exchanges clings for US $; and told me "just take it and get out I don't want your business!" And walked away. I was flabbergasted, not at all sure how a question to try to understand his model so that I could make a decision about whether worth it to just keep the coins and use on my next visit or leave with him could somehow escalate into suck rudeness. I don't recommend this guy, u less you want to leave feeling like crap.

Knowledgeable & witty owner, with a dry sense of humor. This shop has been in Berkeley for ages, and has seen Berkeley through a lot. The owner is passionate about what he does, and has written a book on 'fiat paper money', available online. I'm sure he has to deal with all sorts of characters running a coin/stamp shop in this location! I wouldn't go to anyone else for an honest, educated opinion.

He was very kind to us, and polite even when he had a hard time hearing what we said and let us take our dog with us. His shop is an amazing small Berkeley business and was so fun. I don’t know what value people are expecting for their collections, but he had fair prices for his items on sale, considering IT’S A PHYSICAL SHOP unlike ebay. Thank you Foster.

I have walked by many times but never went in until recently. It's a very cool place. The owner was very nice, and I feel like I got a good deal.

I was treated like crap. I first called to tell the owner that I only had stuff that my father pulled out of the change from the 50's-80's, but that there was nothing valuable. I specifically mentioned that there was no silver, but, by that time, the guy was not listening to me. He said something about being "gentlemanly," and told me to come into the shop. I go into the shop and knock on the door as instructed on the sign on the door. He comes out opens the door, tells me he is on the phone and will be back in a minute, and then leaves me out there with a satchel of coins. I could perhaps forgive him for not letting me in the store if he was on the phone in the back. (I guess he was neither using a cell phone nor a portable landline. See? I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.) But, the true insult was that it must have been close to 15 minutes of me standing on his stoop with a bag of coins, before he let me in. I start telling what I have and he wants me to take it out of the bag. I explain AGAIN what I have and that most of it is combination pre-World War II Jefferson nickels and some later nickels which appear mint state. He tells me to wrap the coins myself and take them to the bank and, for the mint state, send them to a coin grading service for slabbing. And, then, he admitted that he was really just looking for gold and silver. For some reason, I was polite and reminded him that I had called first. I guess I hesitated to get angry, since he looks like he might "expire" at any minute. He is disheveled and the place is a mess. I have nothing good to say about Foster or his grimy shop.

This is the greatest currency and stamp store of all time. I have built my coin, banknote, and stamp collection from nothing starting all at this store. The proprietor is also very knowledgeable, he is an expert in everything from numismatics, notaphily, and philately and anything to do with these subjects. So I would highly recommend going to this shop, it has the best pricing on everything.
