The Store made a change to the processing of the material used for the pillows. I let the owner Heather know of my disappointment in the change, and could she order me an older style filled pillow. She then lost her customer service skills and started raising her voice telling me she was tired of my complaints. I hung up as she continued to escalate. I’ve spent $$$ in this store for all my bedding! I will not be returning.

Like the other 1 star reviews here, I’ve had a similar experience with EarthSake. I’m writing this review in order to help future customers (I wish I had read these before I shopped here). No one informed me of a zero return policy at check out, and I was shocked to be met with a dismissive attitude that read as highly unprofessional when I tried to return a pillow in the original packaging that I felt did not match the demo in the store. When you’re spending at this price point, you want to feel like you’re doing business with reasonable and trustworthy staff. I left today feeling like I got taken advantage of and disrespected by the staff member I interacted with. If you’re looking for quality bedding, I’ve had great experiences with European Sleep Works.

I just stumbled on to this page while checking for hours, actually, but I was floored to see such relatively low reviews, so I thought I would chime in with mine. It's been several years since I purchased anything here, but when I have, or when I was mattress shopping and laid on their offerings, all my experiences have been pleasant. Whether it's knowledgable and engaged salespeople or a nice range of products/pricing (my last purchase was maybe a ~$20 baby gift), it's a positive experience. I've also learned some brand awareness here, mostly about pillows and bedding. Like any retail store, dud products will be sold, but it can't be blamed on the owners. For instance, I bought some shower timers that suction-cup-stick to the wall and you can turn them, and it's a GREAT IDEA for water conservation. But, they fell off the shower walls (two different showers/locations) and broke and became landfill. That is awful. Is it Earthsake's fault? Nope. In fact, I'd not be surprised if they got this feedback and stopped carrying the product. Companies have "inside sales" reps who sell the company products to retail stores and typically get salary + commission. If I owned a store and my rep said this product was the bomb, I would believe them too. Anyway, I would be upset if this wonderful store, for locals by locals, were to cease existence, so just my two cents on years of experience there. I think too many reviewers here are blaming the store for things that are out of the store owners' control.

I've never posted a review to yelp but it's worth it to warn people. I wish I had read the negative reviews before purchasing through this store. There is nothing on the website to indicate backorder of a product so you have to discover after that purchase that something was out of stock and will take a month to deliver. That said, the staff is extremely rude and they even suggested I was lying about a product's packaging and told me I'd be better off shopping at Amazon! I've never experienced anything like it. I'm glad I found out when I did how awful they are because I have a lot more shopping to do for bedding and bathroom and there are many more small businesses out there selling the same brands and as far as products unique to Earthsake, based on reviews they don't sound like they are high quality.

I have purchased many things from EarthSake over the years and have always been happy with them. However I purchased a 3" PureLocal Wool Filled Organic Cotton Mattress Pillowtop - Queen for about $800. We loved how it felt. But it has developed pink mold all over it. I called a mold remediation company and they said it was hopeless and to throw it out. I emailed the company twice with no response. I've owned my house for 28 years and never had a similar problem.

I called the store and they said I needed to talk to Eric directly who by the way is the person who sold me the mattress. I left two voice messages at the phone number the store gave me and also sent an email to the same address he listed in his reply to my review. I do have the right store and the right person. I would prefer if he didn't try to make me wrong.

I splurged on an expensive mattress five years ago. I love the mattress, it is excellent quality and very comfortable. My interactions with the staff sucked. I needed to change the delivery location and called the store and the employee was beyond rude, as if helping me was beneath her. They refused to accommodate me, unless I was willing to pay double shipping. I love my mattress and the idea behind it, but I will look at other opinions when it is time to replace it. I have also bought a wool and a latex pillows from them am in love! Great quality, but bad customer service.

Shocking that this place is still around after their horrendous customer service. Tried to return a 1204 item, well within my 30-days, with receipt, item in perfect condition with tags, my debit card would not accept the return on their machine. I asked for cash instead, they refused saying they can not refund cash but kept pushing store credit which I do not want. They said to contact my bank, I di, after 30 minutes on the phone, went back to store still no luck. The owners refused to do anything to accommodate me, the employee and owner were hostile towards me, I even asked law enforcement fo0r assistance. you can smell the desperation at this place, zero customers and I do not expect this company to survive much longer, especially since they can not even perform a simple refund without extreme hardship and hassle. So the return policy is falsely advertised and fraudulent. Will be reporting them to consumer affairs and the DA's office. Worst experience and all of their products are WAY overpriced, cheap and can be found elsewhere.

I love their organic products, their service, and the ability to speak to the owner. Support small local businesses.Over the years, I’ve bought towels, latex pillows, Q latex bed, wonderful sheets, and such. Thank you for providing these wonderful products. ??

Rude and unfriendly staff. There are plenty of places in Berkeley to get the same products with much nicer staff. Avoid!

Absolutely indifferent and slightly rude staff. I walked ik ready to buy several hundred dollars worth of towels and walked out empty handed - not because they didn't have the product but because of the staff. I wasn't offered any assistance when asking about towels - I asked a few questions and got less than helpful one word answers. At one point I had several towels piled ready to buy and dropped it and got no help. There was no one else in the store and two staff. Walked out empty handed.

This place is so awesome. I love that 99.9 percent of their products are derived from natural sources such as whool (sourced from the great USA), cotton, natural latex etc. SAY NO TO SYNTHETIC FIBERS AND PLASTIC!! The staff is super friendly, helpful and will accommodate their customers. Only down side is that it's pricy but that's the cost of quality. Worth it.

Great place for organic cotton and wool bedding and pillows. Their bathrobes also rock!

I purchased a $128 Coyuchi "cloud brushed organic fitted sheet" and it arrived with an area of several tears. It is totally unusable. I bought it as a gift and didn't open the sheet for over a month. When I realized the issue I was already outside of their 30 day return policy. I just emailed Earthshake but don't expect a replacement since it has been longer than 30 days but will update this review if they replace the product. Otherwise I unfortunately won't ever buy from them again and can't recommend their products.*Since seeing the response from Earthshake I have emailed Coyuchi directly to follow up with a direct return.Update- Coyuchi won't honor their 365 day return policy if product is purchased through a 3rd party retailer. I emailed this to Earthsake asking to return the sheet to them to see if they could return it to Coyuchi on my behalf as was offered in their email but haven't heard back a week later. Earthsake should at least honor the return policy of the brands they sell, and also not sell product from vendors that ship damaged/unusable product. First don't buy Coyuchi product, but if you must then don't buy it from Earthsake.

We have an infant and are trying not to add more VOCs to our lives. We had a nice experience buying (pricy) solid wood furniture from this place.
