Very friendly staff. 10 parking spaces for 37 rooms; first come first served policy. Definitely older rooms with nothing fancy. Was quiet all night. For the area the price can’t be beat.Rooms: Nothing fancy at all. Definitely older rooms that have not been updated in awhile.Walkability: Within walking distance to lots of food and shops

This is a bare bones hotel in an excellent location. Despite being in downtown Berkeley, it is quiet, which is good, because there is little-to-no sound insulation. The bed was comfortable, but although there is AC, there does not seem to be heat. The room is very bare-bones. I would love to give this place a higher review, because the woman at the front desk was very nice. However, this a place you would stay in because of the low price.

Fantastic service, great commodities, and affordable too. Way better than a motel 6 and only a little bit more

Perfect location, clean, friendly staff no issues at all would stay again. Good walking distance to the Greek for a concert.

This was one of the cheapest options that we had on our trip to Berkeley. It's a hotel but a pretty low standards one at that. Two stars at best. The maintenance wasn't great, and the styling is no good. The location nearly made up for all that though. The staff was all right, but they kept the office closed during check-in and check out, so we had to do it via the drive-thru style window. Felt kind of like a motel 6, but without breakfast and with bad quality Wi-Fi.Walkability: Extremely walkable, all of downtown Berkeley is a block away .

Decent experience, good location quite close to the Bart station. Nice and quiet. Nice size roomThe cons were the carpet was quite stained, the room was dark and we never got fresh towels, even though we stayed for 5 days.

You get what you pay for? This was the least expensive hotel and I decided to give it a shot. First, it's a motel. Second, it's old, musty, and third there are literally no amenities other than the basics (bed, bathroom, towels, linens, coffee, blow dryer, tv and shampoo/soap. Several things that made me realize I won't stay here again...outside of the fact that I haven't stayed in a motel since I was a poor college student. I woke up with a sore throat (with my allergies that usually indicates some kind of mold spores), I also had a very bad headache.. more than anything normal, no ice machine (even though I can drink tap water, I really like it cold), and the bed platform stuck out so I dinged my legs a couple of times. I think if you are looking for a deal, with a place to lay your head at night, a good location, don't mind a musty smell, bad air, and are ok with tap water to drink this will work for you. Oh and they had free parking which is a premium if you have a car here. While the location is really great, I'll be sure to spend the extra to stay in a hotel with amenities and good air.

This place deserves to have higher review scores, the only "problem" I see people having are with the parking but it's not that big of an issue. Rooms are nice, comfy and not terribly expensive as most other places are. Would definitely reccomend

I took a chance and found a little gem in downtown Berkeley. The rooms are clean and it is a very safe location- run by a lovely owner who provides the personal touch. No frills other than a coffee maker so be prepared with a small cooler for incidentals . Ice available onsite. Great restaurants just footsteps away. Spent 7 nights there and feel I got a great deal.

Pretty clean. Only 10 parking spots for 37 rooms, first come first served. The TV was on the wrong settings so I couldn't get it to connect and nobody was available to help after 9 pm. Also, there was a pretty strong scent of chemicals for me (I am extremely sensitive so this may not bother others). The bed was comfy. The room was quiet. I like the early check in time. I paid more than I wanted, but it was a large room.

Tired, worn out carpeting and decor. Front desk is a tiny office, with unposted hours. If you want to get help or leave luggage before or after checkout, make other plans because they won't respond to the doorbell. I wanted to leave at 7am, leaving my suitcase at the front desk but there was no one there and the office was locked up.I don't recommend this place.

Staff is friendly and location is convenient, but the rooms themselves are really dilapidated. I paid over $200 dollars for my room and the bed covers had cigarette burns and curtains some sort of stains that looked like blood. The carpet was pretty nasty as was the bathroom tile floor. The walls had lots of badly touched up paint spots that contributed to the overall disrepair of the room. I'm not that squeamish but my stay was uncomfortable. If my wife had been traveling with me, we would not have been able to stay the night. The only reason I toughed it out was because I had some important meetings nearby and I just had a one nights stay. Its too bad that they aren't able to refresh these things a bit, because with a little care, it could be a good place.

GREAT VALUE. Quiet and had little extras like memory foam mattresses and remote control heating and cooling. Staff was very friendly. Great for solo business travelers who don't need a lot of glitz and glamour. Close to BART station - only 8 minute walk.

Location is great if you're looking to explore Downtown Berkeley and/or the university campus. The building itself is a bit run-down with basic features, and the amenities might be damaged (I found burnt holes in my bed sheets and tears in the curtains), so I would suggest this place for those who are looking for short stays.
